Since being drafted in the first-round out of high school back in 2017, I have been openly critical about the move, and to be honest, until last year when Greene showed signs of being a consistently reliable pitcher, I've stood by my criticisms. While it shouldn't take a MLB baseball player 7 years to mature into a championship caliber pitcher, it is what it is, and if we an get a few outstanding years from him, at least we will have salvaged something from our initial investment. I was happy to see Francona give him the chance to pitch the complete game last night, instead of Bell lifting him after 6 and turning our fate, and his, over to our inconsistent bullpen. Hopefully, Greene has matured into what we had all hoped that he would become. That would give us two Championship Caliber players on this team.

It has been an announced that several programs will be changing their levels of play for the upcoming 2025-26 seasons. This encompasses all sports across the board, and somewhat explains some of the moves. Bowling has been the most recent addition to the slate of NKAC competition. Both Holmes and Newport will join Division III from DivII, which will totally disrupt the format that has worked for Division III teams since the turn of the century. Knowing that they are not Regional contenders, these DivIII members have formed their own entity, playing a round-robin, home/away schedule, and conducting an in-season Division III tournament. It is safe to say that Holmes and Newport will not play the double round-robin schedule, nor welcome a mid-season Division III tournament. At least for the short-term, Newport and Holmes will become the dominant entities in D-III on the Boys side, whereas their Girls’ teams will welcome the class relief. The changes don’t stop there. Highlands will elevate from Division II to Division I, and Boone County will now join Division II from Division I. Outside of Division III, over the years the NKAC Conference has lost much of its luster, and to be honest has pretty much become a second thought among member teams. The Conference has made an effort to broaden its exposure by providing each member team with the banners shown below for display in each program's gyms. These banners reflect the present format.

Seven of the nine slugs in our lineup are carryovers from last year. - WITHOUT JONATHAN INDIA. How are we expected to get different results from the same mediocre players. Perhaps Francona is on a "wait and evaluate" plan, but when we hired him, I was thinking that surely he wouldn't be here unless he thought he do something with this team Nobody can fault our starting pitching. But our relievers are the same Gibaut, Moll, etc, bums that haven't been getting it done for the past few years. Today was expecting them to trot Cessa out there. Who is Barlow, and where did we rescue him from? Elly's still striking out. We ae still making base running blunders, and overall we are simply not championship caliber.

As a coach I always wanted to be in a position to WIN or go overtime in that situation. In this case the Cards were in a Lose or Go Overtime situation. It hasn't always worked out for the best for me, but if I were in that situation tomorrow, I would have fouled them, going for a steal, and allowed myself plenty of time 10-15 seconds to respond to the new situation - never just sat back and taken a bullet - but that's me.

Proud of our guys who went down fighting Monday night in Mount Sterling. With 11 days to prepare for our 10th Region Tournament date with Mason County, Coach Ben Franzen devised an effective game plan that put us in a position to win. Brossart led 25-24 just prior to the half when the Royals scored seven points on two 3-Pointers (plus a free-throw), giving them the advantage going into the second half. Both teams put up 11 points in the third period, as the Mustangs continued to trail by five. On a few occasions in the final stanza, we cut it to a one-possession ballgame, but while trailing late, and having to come out and get them, Mason took advantage and drew off to the 8 point win. Brossart closes the book on the 2024-25 season with a 15-16 record after coming off of a 3-26 campaign a year ago. We won the 10th Region "A" Classic earlier in the season, and played in the 10th Region Big Show for the first time since 2022. We will graduate three seniors - our leading scorer Parker Mulberry, along with Dom Hadden and Alex Combs. Ben Franzen has been tabbed the 10th Region Class "A" Coach of the Year for the second time in his three year tenure.

This was GRC's fourth consecutive 10th Region Championship and their 18th overall. Kennedy Stamper, Teigh Yeast, Ciara Byars, and Jallenn Green were all named to the All-Tournament Team from GRC. Brossart was represented on the All-Tournament Team by Hadley Eviston, Kylie Smith, and Zoee Meyers. They will play a formidable Franklin-Simpson team Wednesday night at 6pm in Rupp Arena in the Girls State Tournament. Side Note: I remembered our old BGP favorite member Gold Sunrise (Royetta Stamper) on our broadcast of the game with a photo displaying the two of us, and by drinking an Ale8 in her memory.

This is the fifth year out of the past six that we have played in the 10th Region Final Four, having won it in 2021. Last year we lost in the first round to Scott.

I've looked at the video and our guy did make contact and did not leave his feet in doing so, which resulted in Davie going down, so I take back everything that I said previously. Knowing our player who made play he would not have intended to hurt him, and I mean it. He plays hard and my feeling is that he arrived too late to go up and contest the shot, resulting in what took place. Were it intentional I think he would have gotten lower in order to get under him, which is not the case. He hit Davie while in an upright position. I too would have preferred to see him go up and contest the shot, but he would have had to be a step quicker in order to do so, and I am convinced that would have been his first option. The fact that they were coming from opposite directions also contributed to what took place. I'm really sorry to hear that Davie might be injured. It would be a major setback to the Camels going into the regional tournament.

I will have to watch the film, but I saw the play entirely differently, and thought that he was barely touched, and simply went strong and missed it. There was no upper body contact at all.

Not our best showing. Overwhelmed by the Camels who posted periods of 19, 20, 26, and 16 for 81, and put 11 players in the scoring column, led by Garyn Jackson with 26, while winning their 12th consecutive 37th District Championship. The Camels improve to 22-9, and the Mustangs even their season record at 15s. Parker Mulberry was the lone Brossart double-figure scorer with 12 points. as we could only muster 6, 10, 14, and 9 on the night. Mulberry and Carson Hesse were named to the All Tournament Team from Brossart while Austin Davie, Xavier Fancher, and Garyn Jackson were so designated for the Camels.

With Campbell County being the district top dog for the past 11 years, and Calvary Christian normally brining up the rear, that leaves Brossart and Scott to battle it out for the other spot in the championship game and for a 10th Region Tournament berth.

Happy for this group of players, Coach Franzen, and especially our three seniors who have weathered some tough times with us leading to this point.

Bishop Brossart avenged an earlier season 61-27 loss to Holy Cross back on December 11th to advance to the Northern Kentucky Freshman Tournament at Covington Catholic. We are very proud of this group of freshman who exemplify the term TEAM. This game came down to the last shot, when Brossart's Brady Rowe found Cohen Trauth going backdoor for the game-winner. Brossart will play Beechwood in the Saturday at 1pm Semi-Finals. Beechwood defeated Lloyd in double-overtime.

Is Thompson in the Mr. Basketball discussion??? Being from a small school in an obscure Region, would be the only reasons that I can think of why he might not be being considered. I'd also like to meet the coach out there who might think that Sawyer could not start for him.

Sawyer Thompson is the best player that I have seen play this season. Quick, strong, finishes well, and can dole out a myriad of assists. Our defense cold not stop him, nor his teammates. Jerimiah Beck had nearly equal numbers, but was not nearly as visibly impressive.

Winning the 10th Region "A" was huge for this team, who had been through such a rough ride a year ago. I'm kind of feeling like the owner walking his 50-1 shot over to the paddock for the Kentucky Derby, but I do think we have a big chance to beat Pineville and get a win in the Big Show. Thanks!!! Bishop Brossart won our seventeenth 10th Region All "A" Classic Tournament, defeating Paris 77-63 in a contest in which the now 9-5 Mustangs led every step of the way, but warded off the Greyhounds who had closed to within 6 points late in the game. This one is special in that this team was 3-26 a year ago without a senior on the team an ousted in the opening round of the tournament. A summer of ASAP, Skills Sessions, and a full fall of primarily non-fall sports athletes is paying off, as we are now 9-5 on the season and will represent the 10th Region in the All "A" State tournament taking on Pineville in the Owensboro Sportscenter this coming Thursday at 10am. Brossart was led by Parker Mulberry with 23 points. Alex Combs added 18 and Ben Doyle 15. Parker Mulberry was named our All-Academic Award recipient, while Becket Kuntz, Dom Hadden, and Alex Combs were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Bluebirds, down seven at 66-59 with under two minutes to play in the game, fortunate to have returned to the City of Beautiful Homes with the win, their 11th of the season against 3 losses. Mustangs succumbed to the late-game pressure applied, tuned the ball over, and allowed dribble penetration and multiple free-throws with the game on the line, all of which contributed to the Bluebird comeback and the Mustangs demise. Mustangs trailed 23-18 at the first quarter stop, knotted it up at 37s at the half, poked a nose in front 55-54 after three, but were outscored 17-12 late, allowing the Birds to escape with the victory. On the night Brossart connected on ten 3-pointers , while Highlands hit 7. Highlands held an 11 point advantage from the free-throw line 18/31 to 7/11. Brossart had four double-figure scorers, led by Parker Mulberry with 14. Carson Hesse scored 11, while Beckett Kuntz and Drew Steffen added 10 each. On the Birds side of the ledger, they were led by Nathan Rickard with 13, Finn Bouldin had 11, and Cale Harris and J.P. Shaffer scored 10 each. Mustangs will await Robertson County in the opening round of the 10th Region "A" Tournament on Friday, weather permitting. The Birds head to Kentucky Country Day for the All "2A" Tournament
