  1. Proud day for the Brossart basketball program as two of our best and brightest sign letters of intent - Burns with Centre, and Trentman with Christian Brothers. Congratulations also to Mustangs forward Erik Rieger who has been accepted on scholarship to the University of Louisville Engineering School.

  3. Crushed ice for your drink is another plus.
  4. You are right Nothern Kentucky is traditionally Campbell, Kenton, and Boone.
  5. I like their sandwiches, but find them somewhat slimy and have trouble keeping the meat and ingredients inside the bread.
  6. Greg Rose was a good friend. I always made a point to stop by the press box when attending a Camels football game. He did the same when we were broadcasting a Brossart-Campbell County basketball game. He was always genuinely intetested in our program, and complimentary of us. I knew him since he was a little guy playing Red Devils football. His own dad died early in his life. May he rest in peace. And that is a Campbell Counnnnnty Fiiirrsssttt Down!!!
  7. I'm beginning to feel as though we are ill-fated this year. Basketball we get beat at the buzzer by St. Mary in the "A" State after being up 5 with a minute to go. Districts we can only muster 44 going 1-15 from "3" and only get the the FT line four times, to a team we have beaten by 19 earlier, who then go on to win the region. Tonight we are in the best position we could possibly be in going into the Beechwood 7th. Up 3-0 and our ace Nate Verst in complete command having allowed only 0 runs/3 hits w/7 ks to this point and rolling merrily along. He gets the leadoff hitter - 1 out, and then like a bad joke Beechwood gets four consecutive singles to tie the game at 3s and then the leadoff hitter hits a two run (which would become a 1 run) home run to take the lead. We fight back with a leadoff single, a sacrafice, and then what appears to be a bloop single to right which would have least put runners on the corners with one out and Nate Verst at the plate. No wait - the second baseman makes a circus catch, they double off the runner on second and that quickly it's over, we lose and Beechwood is going to Lexington. What a gut punch. Congrats to Beechwood!!!! Good luck in Lexington.
  8. Great choice for the Pendelton County program. Belcher will infuse some new energy and excitement into the program. Will have the confidence of his players because he's been there/done that and has earned his rep from within the program. Likeable and personable young man who we wish all of the best.
  9. Mustang JVs not shabby. 15-3 overall with road wins over Dixie Heights and Holmes. Won the 38th District championship defeating Campbell COunty and Scott (twice) and were NKAC Division II Co-Champs. While we are not as dressed up on paper as sometimes in the past, we are certainly still contenders.
  10. Congrats to Bellevue and Briley Seiter!!! Seiter has come a long way since pitching for Silver Grove as a grade schooler. I'm sure the kid is a gamer.
  11. Beechwood and Brossart will square off on Thursday night at 5pm at St. Mary Field in Alexandria, as the two teams vie for a berth in the DerbyDay Weekend Touchstone Energy All "A" State Tournament at Whitaker Bank Park in Lexington. Beechwood comes in with a 14-3 record, sporting four Division I players, while the Mustangs are 7-8 on the season. We will broadcast the game live starting at 4:50pm via the BMustangs website.
  12. I would think that Paris has got to be favored. Our success (Brossart) in the event makes us a contender, BUT returning only one starter and losing six quality seniors on what will be a junior dominated ballclub certainly makes us vulnerable. I will guarantee you that here on April 22nd Mike Code has his attentions focused on Nicholas County who return two of their top three players. Will be interesting.
  13. The 2015 10th Region Touchstone Energy All "A" Tournament Brackets were drawn yesterday in a meeting of the Athletic Directors. The tournament will remain in a single site format with both the boys and girls tournament running currently at Robertson County High School. Boys Pairings: 1-09-15: Upper Bracket Play-in game - 8pm - Nicholas Co vs Bishop Brossart 1-10-15: Upper Bracket Opening Round - 12Noon - Calvary vs Robertson Co Lower Bracket Opening Round - 4:00pm - Bracken Co vs Paris Lower BRacket Opening Round - 8:00pm - St. Patrick vs Augusta 1-12-15: Upper Bracket Opening Round - 8:00pm - Silver Grove vs Nicholas/Brossart Wnr 1-14-15 - Upper Bracket Semi-Finals - 8:00pm 1-15-15 - Lower Bracket Semi-Finals - 8:00pm 1-17-15 - Championship Game
  14. Friday overnight traveling home from Mississippi, I filled up at Franklin, Ky., just across the Ky/Tenn border for $3.45. Four hours later as I refilled in Wilder, Ky., it was $3.89. That's a pretty big discrepency within the same state and within hours of each other.
  15. That would be it. We'll see what we can do about doing a internet broadcast of that game.
  16. That could be right. I remember seeing him play against Georgetown, when our Ryan Anderson pitched for the Tigers.
  17. Two blue Blue-Chippers right there. Curley was amazing playing for Beechwood and then had a great college career at Cumberland (???). Maile is certainly one of the finest to ever come out of Northern Kentucky. Great shot!
  18. Damn, I already miss the intellectual Dusty post-game interviews.
  19. Really, really, good stuff!!! Thanks for posting
  20. KHSAA Internet Broadcasting Happy Viewing!
  21. Just noticed this thread. I am not up to speed with the state of the football program. Any time I have asked the answer has been that they hope a few more boys will come out. At the moment I can confidently confirm the number of 18 committed to the program. Coach Teegarden is a non-issue. He has the confidence of the admiistration, the kids, the fans, and the parents. He ran a great program last season with what he had to do it with and the group showed improvement. Not being in the building is a detriment. Do I think we have football players walking our halls who could play and help the team??? Probably not. Do we have boys walking the hall that could play football??? Yes we do, and these are the guys who we need to get out for the team. There are a couple of guys who had played in the past who are making a return to the gridiron this year. The basketball team roster is not as loaded with basketball specific players as it has been in the past, and I think a few of these guys could make a contribution on the football field, and it might even benefit them come hoops season. Soccer is the two-headed monster that draws the majority of our fall-sport males. A few run cross-country. However, soccer players are soccer players and I'd be hard pressed to name 6 or 7 who would make major contributions on the football field. The fact that we are going back to 1-A is light at the end of the tunnel and may be the make or break factor that keeps the football program viable. Bellevue, Ludlow, and Dayton (or Bracken, Nicholas, and Paris) will all remain major challenges to our football program for awhile, but they are not NCC, HOly Cross, Lloyd, and Newport. I agree wholeheartedly with the comment made here about facilities. We need to make a concerted effort to provide our program with the space, equipment, and facilities to demonstrate support for this program. Now that we have a kick-butt chapel, state-of-the-art theater, and are a first class college prep high school, it is high time to turn our attentions to providing our athletic teams with the same opportunities. Significant improvements have been made to our gym, and short of building a new one, those of us who call the SyDome home have no complaints with the volleyball and basketball venue. Our focus needs to now shift to the Gilbert Ridge property and develop it into a first-class soccer, football, and track/field practice complex. Over $8 million was raised for the forementioned addition and gym enhancement project. More money continues to be pledged. The new facility will be completely paid for in a matter of a few years. IF we want to stay viable athletically, the next step has to be to bring our Gilbert Ridge athletic facilities up to speed.
