  1. Bach will become a legend in Augusta and 10th Region lore. Here's my nomination for Bach for the 10th Region HOF in the first year of his eligibilty 2018-19 or 19-20. I think you have to be out five years - maybe not. Too bad we don't have an all-tournament team so the kid could receive a standing ovation from the entire Fieldhouse tomorrow night. Maybe they can have him run out on the floor with a towel to wipe up a wet spot.
  2. Bo Schuh was my player of the game tonight. Lots of KEY rebounds.
  3. Great game, effort, and season for the Augusta Panthers and Coach Jason Hinson. Hardly fair for Augusta to be asked to have to beat MoCo, but it was a 53-53 ballgame before MoCo went on an 8-0 run to solidify the win.
  4. A bigger question is if Scott would leave who would replace Nolin on the "Rollin with Nolin" show????
  5. A program can be on the way up because of an influx of talented players, but to add superior coaching to the talent mix, doing right things right and putting that team in a position to win are two entirely different matters. I think Dick instilled that in this team, who can only benefit by having played under him.
  6. That would be a shame on two counts. Most importantly that Dick Maile is having health issues, and secondly a shame that the Lady Tigers would be losing one heck of a coach who definitely has the program moving in the right direction.
  7. Ken Shields was right! This is a case where Title IX with all of its good intentions, creates a negative situation by overlooking the common sense factor of playing the girls games in a more cozy environment. And then there are the wasted costs.
  8. Clueless........ I think you can stop right there. Bj1 is making a big splash in the lack of creditibilty pool.
  9. The official eligibility sheet for post-season play is the roster posted on the KHSAA website, which is on the internet. If the player was on the eligibilty sheet as one number but had a number change for the game, it seems that should have been reported to the official scorer. Sumo was correct in taking the roster from the KHSAA site.
  10. That was my impression as well. Reminded me of the technical foul called against B.J. .......... of Campbell County back in the 1998 38th District Tournament that gave Brossart the momentum needed to rally to beat the Camels. Simply frustration with himself, but a technical issued nonetheless.
  11. We enjoyed our chat with McPapa tonight. Thanks for stopping up. Great to see you becoming your old self again.
  12. Don''t throw too much dirt on us yet. Mustangs JVs were 15-3, 37th District Champs and Co-NKAC DIV II Champs. Defeated Dixie at Dixie and Holmes at Holmes. Lost by 2 to NCC at NCC and narrowly to Campbell County and Mason County in the regular season, then came back and defeated Campbell County in the 37th District Tournament finals. Back are Spencer Hackworth, Clay Kramer, Blake Saunders, and Jon Zink who had an ill-fated junior year. We are high on the sophomore class and think they have a future as a contender. No doubt losing the six seniors signals the end of a very strong era of Brossart basketball and we will be in deep rebuilding mode, BUT we've been there before.
  13. Montgomery County looked like a different ballclub in the second half, and used their quickness/athleticism to advantage. We were getting shots swatted that don't normally get blocked, and our pockets picked on occasions that we don't normally give it up. It is simply impossible to duplicate that scenerio at practice. They also hit shots and lots of them including a pair of threes just before the half to give MoCo momentum and a 24-21 lead. Wallace was really good. I wasn't a fan of the geriatric official. Makes one appreciate what we have here in the 10th with the Bluegrass Officials Association. I felt we had some opportunities early that we didn't cash in on, and that MoCo played rather lethargically in the first half. They really shifted gears in the second half. Got us down 10/12 and it pretty much remained that way. Trentman and Burns fouling out and our having to extend our defense put the nail in the coffin and brought a pretty strong era of basketball orchetrated by these seniors, to an end. Alex Trentman concludes his career by stringing 30 consecutive (including 2 from last year) double-figure performances together.

  15. A few observations. First it pains me to see anyone openly critical of Josh Feldmann. The man pours his heart and soul into our kids and this basketball program. He teaches a full day in Fort Thomas, takes the second practice slot (4:45pm-6:45pm) in Alexandria and doesn't get home to see his wife and toddler in Erlanger until 7:30pm, and that is only on nights when he is not out scouting. He is extremely knowledgable of the game and does a great job of teaching it. Just listen to some of the old broadcast replays when Josh would sit with Andrew Kappas during the playing of the JV games and provide commentary. Josh brings 16 (or more) years of basketball coaching with him to Brossart to coach our girls program. He is in his fourth year with us and is light years ahead of the coaching debacles that preceeded him. We are extremely fortunate to have him. The reference to all of this "talent." We have indeed been fortunate to have had the services of this senior class who have formed the nucleus of this program all four years. But upon closer inspection we discover that maybe we aren't as physically overwhelming as folks might think and might look more appropriate in a prom gowns than basketball uniforms. I stand 6 foot tall, and am taller than Sarah Futscher who is of slight build. Stinky and Smelly, (Abby Stadtmiller and Morgan Verst) are petite in comparison to many of their counterparts. Kayla Young is an excellent defensive player and catlyst, but not a major threat to score. Madison Eisenman has been plagued with injury throughout her career, and is simply not the same player that she was during her freshmen season. Granted we have a nice sophomore support corps, who contributed substantially to our 22-7 record and will keep our winning tradition alive. When things got physical, we struggled. When we failed to hit shots from the perimeter we struggled. When we played superior opponents we struggled. Our three consecutive losses to Highlands, Simon Kenton, and Holy Cross should have told us that, while we were good, we were not up to defeating the blue-chippers night in and night out at this stage of their careers and perhaps were a second-tier contender, whether we liked it or not. Things don't always go as hoped for, as this one didn't. It was a tough game to go out on, becuase we feel that we were capable of better and dared dream dreams of greatness, however reality intervened. Take a trip back in time to a boys regional game in 2009 at the BOKC where we played and felt we had a legitimate shot at Mason County. At halftime it was 33-6 with us on the short end of the stick. God forbid we should bring up our loss to Bracken County in the 2004 District Tournament. My point here is that stuff happens, and it did last night for our girls. Disappointing yes. Cause for disparaging our coach, no. Hindsight is always 20/20, and if given the chance Coach Feldmann and his staff would have probably done a few things differently. However, you play the 32 minutes you are alloted and hope for the best. To our parents who are so bold as to post derogatory statments about Coach Feldmann and his staff, I'm going to leave you with the immortal words of Colonel Nathan Jessup in A Few Good Men: You want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
  16. Tough night for the shorthanded Polar Bears. Camels feelin it
  17. Nominations can come from anywhere through the present head coach. Cary Barr puts together the nominations and sends them to the members of the 10th Region Coaches Association (head coaches) and they vote on the nominees. For example: Two years ago, Eugene Puckett (Puck), himself a member of the 10th Region HOF from Paris High School nominated Tom Leach the voice of the Kentucky WIldcats, and a graduate of Bourbon County High School. The nomination went through the head coach and he was elected. Often there are a number of nominations with only a specified number elected.
  18. I'm sure that Sumoroyal could provide that info. It's a long list, goes way back.
  19. I concur, we never seemed to pick it back up after the Danville loss and said so tonight on the broadcast.
  20. Very disappointing night for the Brossart gals. Started flat, falling behind 14-2 while turning the ball over six times. Mason County was very agressive on both ends of the floor and did a great job contesting everything that we tried to do. Verst was the only one to hit from the perimeter. Futscher was held scoreless for three quarters. Following the 14-2 early game run, the Lady Stangs answered with an 11-4 run of their own, making it 18-13 at the half. Pulled to within two early in the second half at 18-16, but stalled out, only putting 5 points on the board in the third and trailed by seven 25-18 after three. Mason County hit their free-throws down the stretch and drew off to win 42-27. Tough way to go out for five Brossart seniors, who were instrumental in winning 90 games over the past four years. Mason County has now won 13 of their past 15 games and play Clark County Saturday afternoon in the semi-finals.
  21. The reason I might give Mike Listerman as a viable candidate credence is that he lives in Southern Campbell County. He also is a former head coach at Harrison County, but that's been a looonnngg time ago (mid-80's).
