In 2005 the CCH hiring committee recommended to principal Clines not to hire John Rodenberg. As Coach Ray put it, "If you hire him, he's just going to move on down the road the next time he sees something bigger and better." Clines went against the recommendation of the hiring committee and hired Rodenberg. We won state in Rody's second year, and then like Coach Ray said, he moved on down the road for something he saw as bigger and better, a door into the GCL. Then we were back searching for a coach again. Clines was a non-football guy. Coached track a couple of years if memory serves. Turns out the decision on the football coaching hire was his exclusively. That was also a hire that effected the school, community and the kids just like the HHS job does. I hope for the sake of the Birds that Bertasso listens to the input of the right people here, but to think that there's never been a principal who likes to flex their principal muscles and make the call that they want even if it goes against popular opinion, well, you're mistaken.

Sorry about that. I didn't have a chance to hop back on here but like CCHFC said, Agee primarily played DB and receiver at Campbell. Probably more accurate to call him an 'athlete'. Started at QB in a couple of Campbell's games last year. Took snaps in most of their games. Top scorer on the team, 54 of their 131 points in the '20 season.

I heard Crone was looking at CCH and Beechwood both and that it appeared to be Beechwood where he was leaning. Sounds like Agee from Campbell is going to be resurfacing at CCH though for his senior year. Think he has a younger bro too.

Reading between the lines I think Sweeperboy is saying that in reality, the people who are going to make the final call on who gets hired at HHS don't value the opinion or recommendation of their hiring committee.

Not alleging that Woolley is bound for Beechwood at this exact point. But yeah, I think your question about who would leave the current staff at Beechwood is exactly why he ended up back at Scott this past season. I'm confident he's applying at Highlands. Why wouldn't he? But I'm also pretty confident Highlands won't hire him.

I've heard more than a few times that Woolley is hoping to follow up Rash at Beechwood when the time comes that Rash retires. Seems like making his way onto the staff in Ft Mitchell would be a good start if Woolley is hoping for that job. I thought I heard at some point last year that he was on Beechwood's, or at least tried to get a job on it. Then the next thing I knew he was back as an assistant coach where he had just quit as head coach. Tom Roell is a great guy. Absolute salt of the earth.

Which school are you referencing? I always thought if you had voc students, they were included in your enrollment just like any other students.

Looks like JC currently has an enrollment of 576 boys. The KHSAA uses a 4 year average for their reclassification, like I said, but their current enrollment would make them 6th smallest in 5A, just behind South Warren and just ahead of Douglass.

Agreed. I think Beechwood will have a slightly more difficult handling the mud, but I expect them to win by 2 or 3 touchdowns. West Carter's D is tougher on passing than it is on rushing, which is Beechwood's offensive strength. That should have some impact on the final score too.

Do we know that Highlands is headed to 4A? Are any of the proverbial powers that be at Highlands saying they are considering opting to stay in 4A for the '23-'26 alignment? Would the move to 4A be expressly with the intent to stay out of CCH's district? I know CCH's enrollment has been trending down a little. The KHSAA lists CCH's enrollment this year at 545, and the website for the diocese says 512. The football alignments take a four year average. Will CCH be moving down to 4A for '23-'26? The 4A school enrollment range is usually ≈ 420-559 boys, 5A is usually ≈ 560-754 boys, and 6A is usually ≈ 755 boys and larger. Anderson County is currently the largest 4A school and had a 4 year average of 553 boys. Looks completely possible that CCH could be sneaking back down to 4A if their enrollment numbers stay where they are.

Correct. After the KHSAA gets their take, as they would with any playoff game, the schools are splitting the video ticket sales 50/50, also as they would with the "admission" tickets for any playoff game. Can you believe that CCH would actually try to sell tickets to pay for the KHSAA fees and to split profits with Bowling Green instead of letting another broadcast crew issue their own livestream gratis? I'm more than confident that the "might be generous enough" bit of the statement you were given was an ad lib from someone on the BG end of things and not from CCH athletic director Mr. Bacigalupo. I get it. Not getting to go to the game sucks. Not getting to watch your own broadcast sucks. All due respect, though, CCH is a private school and doesn't get to petition any school district for financial help when the athletic department budget takes a nose dive because of coronavirus. The broadcast costs money because CCH is trying to recoup money they haven't been making all season long at the gate. If your public school is able to weather the coronavirus storm without having to make any changes to their usual way of doing things, that's awesome. Our school isn't so lucky. As a result, they charge $15 for the broadcast, just like a good handful of other schools have done. Gripe about the $15 if you want, sure, but "pretty much a disgrace"? Give me a break. It's a good broadcast. And they provide a free audio broadcast. And it sounds like they may well be allowing BG to do their own audio broadcast. I'm gonna be paying $15 just like you to watch. And I'm gonna be glad I'm not stuck reading about the score in the newspaper on Saturday morning instead.
