After looking at Aiken's schedule / record on MaxPreps, I'm not sure the best win is Aiken. Aiken shows being 4-4 with the combined opponent record of 10-30 for those 4 wins. I'm thinking I agree with you that it might actually be Russell or Conner.

If you like BBQ, then I would recommend Smokin This and That BBQ. It was recommended to me by @StraightShooter and @theguru. Went there Friday night of the CAL vs. Ryle game with @StraightShooter and was very happy with the choice. I would gladly go there again. It's about 15 minutes from Lloyd.

A lot of teams look forward to their opportunity of taking on the big boys and your assessment / formula sounds awesome but to quote the great Mike Tyson…. But I’ve been on both sides of that coin & there’s zero pressure when you’re the underdog so not a bad spot for Lloyd to be in if they beat Murray & CAL beats Bell County.

Bell County has forced 33 turnovers this year (2.53 per game), which is pretty impressive. However, CAL has only turned the ball over 4 times this year (0.31 per game). If Bell County is going to pull the upset, they have to force 3+ turnovers, have possession of the ball 2:1 & rush for over 200 yards. that's a tough ask. I simply think it boils down to speed & CAL will have too much of it. I don’t think CAL will take their running clock streak to 8, but I do think they take their win streak to 21. CAL wins 38-7.

The Bell Co. Bobcats head west on Friday to take on the CAL Centurions for a rematch of the 2023 class 3A state championship game. Kickoff is set for 7 pm. For the visiting Bell Co Bobcats, who enter the contest 12-1, it will more than likely be a run heavy attack to try to “shorten” the game & keep the high powered CAL offense off the field. Bell Co enters the game rushing the ball approximately 80% of the time & averaging 257 YPG. They are led by SR RB Kaleb Miller (1814 YDS, 152 YDS per game & 28 TDs). Bell County’s lone defeat this year may have been their best game they played, a 35-34 OT defeat at the hands of the class 5A semifinalist Pulaski Co. CAL enters undefeated & winners of their last 20 games; last 7 being by running clock. The 13-0 Centurions own wins over 4 teams who are playing in the semifinals for their respective classes (Pikeville, LCA, Owensboro & Ryle). CAL is led on offense by SO QB Jackson Burke (182/222, 82%, 45 TDs). JR WR Ja’Hyde Brown, who played on Friday for the first time since the last regular season game is his main target (1270 YDs & 21 TDs). CAL is led defensively by JR LB Micah Newsome (118 TKLS, 18 TFLs & 3 sacks). This game should be interesting. Will Bell Co run the ball well enough to shorten the game, keep the CAL offense off the field & pull the upset? Does CAL keep the train rolling to 21 straight wins & a 4th straight trip to Kroger Field?

LC’s offense scores about 29 PPG & Murray’s defense gives up about 19 PPG so I’ll split the difference & say LC scores 24. The question then becomes can the high powered Murray offense score more than 24 against a seemingly stout LC defense? that's a tough call, but I’m going to say they do. I’ll take Murray 28-24.

Correct; I coach high school wrestling. Union County is well known regionally, but Kentucky as a state is not. Most of the time, when KY kids go to out of state or top tier tournaments, overall, they don’t fare well. The Raneys are different altogether.

The Union County Braves will make the 3 hour trip east to Louisville to take on the CAL Centurions in a rematch of last year's class 3A state championship game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Union County enters the game at 7-5, fresh off of a 10-7 upset of previously undefeated Glasgow. The Braves run the ball just over 70% of the time and carrying a bulk of that load is SR Willem McPeake (1336 YDS / 16 TDS leading into the Glasgow game). Defensively, the UC is led by SR Cameron Webb (83 TKLS, 9.5 TFL & 3 Sacks). For the home Centurions, it was business as usual with a 48-3 victory over DeSales. CAL has multiple weapons on offense to choose from, but the leader calling the signals is SO QB Jackson Burke. Although stats haven't officially been reported just yet, Burke had another efficient night against the Colts, going a perfect 100% on completion percentage for the 3rd time in a game this year. JR WR Ja'Hyde Brown was out again against the Colts, but should be available this Friday if needed. Of note, prior to their victory on Friday against Glasgow, the Braves had played 4 teams in class 3A or higher who had winning records this year. They were 0-4 in those games with an average score of 47-19. Can the Braves continue their playoff run and knock off CAL for their 2nd straight upset win over an undefeated team? Does CAL run their state leading winning streak to 20 games and possibly their 7th straight running clock victory? **Interesting side note, although they don't play football, the Raney twins from Union County, who have won 9 individual wrestling state titles between them, have signed with Oklahoma St. For those unfamiliar with wrestling, that's like signing with Georgia, Ohio St., etc. in football. Huge accomplishment for those boys coming from a state not known at all for wrestling.

Only met Coach Weinrich once, but based on that interaction, he seems like a class act & if he decides to continue coaching, he’ll obviously be a great addition for any program. Campbell County’s loss if true.

They’ll have to establish some type of ground game as CAL simply has too many athletes for DeSales to just air it out as they typically like to do. I don’t think they can. I see CAL with another running clock victory but I’ll go 49-7 this time around.

Not too far off....the longest time to travel is about 6 1/2 to 7 hours as shown by Belfry traveling to Union County for a playoff game last year.

The DeSales Colts travel to CAL on Friday night for a 7:30 kickoff and rematch of a district 3 matchup from a month ago. CAL won that contest 62-7. For the visiting Colts, they enter off of a hard fought, come from behind 43-36 win over Garrard County. The Colts were able to score twice in the last 7 minutes of the game to advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Of note, for only the 2nd time all year, DeSales had more rushing attempts in a game than passing attempts. The Colts pass the ball about 60% of the time on the year. For DeSales to have any kind of a chance in this game, I believe they will have to establish some kind of running game, which they weren't able to do in the 1st matchup as CAL held them to -32 yards rushing, and effectively "shorten" the game. For the home CAL Centurions, it was business as usual after sluggish start against Mercer County last week. Late into the 1st quarter of the matchup with the Titans, the score was tied at 7-7. CAL then proceeded to score 33 points over the course of the next 18 minutes of the 1st half and put the game away. SO QB Jackson Burke had his typical "efficient" night going 16/17 for 285 YDS and 5 TDS. He is now 158/197 (80%) with 2528 YDS, 38 TDS against just 1 INT. The numbers become even more impressive when you consider the fact he split reps the first 3 1/2 games of the year. More than likely, CAL will be without leading WR Ja'Hyde Brown again this week (DNP against Mercer County), but I don't anticipate that being a hinderance for CAL. Can the Colts keep this game closer than the previous meeting and have a fighting chance in the end? Does CAL keep the train rolling into a potential, highly anticipated matchup against Lex Cath next week?
