If they played 10 times, Trinity wins 7 or 8. Top level talent is on par, but Trinitys depth is what ultimately gives them the advantage.

CAL was missing 2 defensive starters against Owensboro (S - Stone Perkins who just signed with Ball State & DL - Kellan Hall who is a top 10 national recruit for 2028). I would say that’s quite a lot to be missing & possibly more of a factor than Owensboro missing 3 starters. ?‍♂️. In addition, CAL was still rotating QBs at that point in the year, so they weren’t exactly in sync either. Anyway, Owensboro will get another shot against CAL next year & I'm sure it will return to another competitive game like it was in ‘23 & ‘24. Also, I wouldn’t call LCA nobody. The fact remains CAL running clocked 2 state champions this year. Congrats on the state title. Enjoy it as it’s been long overdue for the Red Devils.

That's bad, but I've seen worse. Saw a kid hit the portal two Decembers ago, go to another school, spring practice didn't work out so he hit the portal again. Went to a 3rd school starting in July, then after last season, hit the portal again in December. Basically, 4 schools from November 2023 to January 2025. It really is insane.

CAL beat the 2A state champ 47-7 this year. I can’t speak for other years, but this year, yes they would have.

It was solely to get a catch to the 2 seniors who hadn’t caught a pass all game. The intention was never to score & I’m positive the instruction was to go down if you do get in the clear.

It's not for a lack of trying. Unfortunately, it just doesn't make much sense for Trinity or St. X to play CAL. As @Tigerpride94alluded to, if you win, "you're supposed to" and it doesn't really help your RPI. If you somehow lose, well that definitely affects your RPI, plus you're often times trying to attract similar / the same kids so that is a detractor.

CAL has a few sophomores and a couple of freshmen this year that will step in next year and do very well. In addition, CAL has a couple of kids coming in that will make an instant impact. One will probably shock a few people.

I’m very comfortable saying if they played 10 times, CAL would win 2, Trinity wins 8. We’ll see how South Warren does Saturday, but I believe CAL is the only team in the state with an offense good enough to match Trinity.

He played for North Oldham as a 7th grader last year as well.

Just to be clear, I am not associated in any way with Franklin County. I’m just an educated, informed observer. I told @thegurulast year that that essentially Pulaski County was a dark horse with good days ahead due to their young talent & here they are this year one game away from a title. Ironically enough, Northern Pulaski MS has won a few MS state titles in recent years. I said on this message board, that early in the season 2 years ago, when Trinity switched QBs to FR Zane Johnson & a lot of people were calling for Coach Cobb to be canned, if they would just be patient, they would be rewarded because Zane Johnson & his fellow freshmen were that good. Here we are & they’re going for a 3 peat with that same QB. Sometimes it’s actually pretty easy to project talent. Kids like Jacob Savage, well those are no brainers & you could see it when he was a 7th grader. I’ve been at this a while & don’t pass out compliments like the one I did for the freshman class at Franklin County often, so as long as they stay together, which is always a big if no matter what school it is, that talent pool DOES HAVE state titles in their future. That is my opinion, but here are two FACTS I’ll give you….the 2023 Elkhorn 7th grade state champion team was the best 7th grade MS team in the state & it wasn’t close. The 2024 Elkhorn 8th grade state champion team was the best 8th grade team in the state & it wasn’t close. Take that for what you want.

that's a really good question but I’m pretty sure you can. Connor Hodge from CAL was one of 10 finalists last year & he didn’t win DPOY. That honor went to Cortez Stone who was also a finalist.

CAL doesn't play any 3A opponents other than what they're required to play (I.e. district games in regular season and then the playoffs). The last good 3A game they had was Central last year (Central beat CAL in the regular season).

I said in early September, I thought this would be the 3A state title game and here it is. I thought Murray could avoid CAL due to RPI, which they did. I also thought Murray had the athletes to somewhat matchup with CAL, which they do. I think this game is closer than most think, but I do foresee CAL winning their 4th straight state title. I'll take CAL 42-21. If CAL wins it this year, it will probably be 5 in a row after next year. They have a guy or two coming in next year that be a huge addition to an already stacked roster.

Agreed. There are state titles in Franklin County's future. Their freshman class is probably the best in the state overall. After seeing them in early August, I would have never predicted them to be at Kroger Field this weekend. However, the state titles are just that...in the future. I think Boyle County pulls this one out and I'll say it's 35-20.

After seeing Owensboro earlier this year, the fact that they are here is impressive to me. To get to this point after the showing the 1st 2 weeks of the season, is a huge credit to their players and coaches. To be honest, they are one of two teams that will be playing at Kroger Field that is a shock for me with the other being Franklin County. Pulaski County will bring a fight, but I think Owensboro is just playing so well right now, they ride that momentum to a state title. I'll take Owensboro 28-17.

I know it probably won't happen, but if Mr. Football is supposed to go to the best senior football player each year in Kentucky, then the trophy should be his this year. I know there are a lot of quality football players in the class of 2026, but he's the best in my opinion. I didn't get to see him play in person often, but in the 4 times I did, he never disappointed. I can't wait to see what he does at the next level when he's only playing one side of the ball. I don't think Saturdays are the limit for him either. There could be Sundays in his future as well.
