First team to 13 wins. Central Hardin will have to play ball control & hope to score first to make their running game that much more effective. In the end, Central is capable of big, one play scoring strikes & I'm not so sure Central Hardin is as much. For that reason, I’ll take Central 13-7.

Turnovers and penalties will kill any team for sure. Lunz is a good ball player with a bright future. As for Boykins, I don't think it's the nagging groin injury that might keep him out of this week's game.

This actually looks pretty good. Every team ranked above another team has either beaten that team already or not played yet. The only X factor at this point is Manual. They've played pretty well, even in the absence of RB Zeke Washburn.

I can't speak for anything going on with their program and don't ever want to run any team, coach, player, etc. down, but I can say they seem to turn out some pretty good football players and multiple D1 commits, year-in and year-out, with underwhelming or disappointing team results. There is no denying that there is a ton of talent at North Hardin.

The Bullitt East Chargers will take the trip down to Radcliff on Friday to take on the North Hardin Trojans. North Hardin leads the all-time series (3-1). The Chargers are coming into the game with a record of 4-1 and off of a shutout victory over Central. North Hardin comes into the game off of a 42-26 defeat at PRP with a record of 1-3. The visiting Chargers bring a fairly balanced offense into this contest, averaging 375.6 yards per game (199 passing and 176.6 rushing) and 35.6 PPG (14 passing TDs & 13 rushing TDs). On offense the Chargers are led by QB Jack Zwernemann (SR) who has accounted for 943 YDS passing (14 TDS / 4 INT) & 390 YDS rushing (4 TDs). WR Tyler Spalding (SR) has 16 receptions with 335 YDS and 4 TDs. On defense, the Chargers are starting to find their stride with back-to-back shutouts. At the beginning of the year, what was thought to be the strength of the team, finally came up huge last week, holding D1 prospect Cortez Stone to 98 YDS rushing on 29 attempts. For the Trojans, scoring points this year has not been a problem, but stopping teams from scoring has been another matter. The pass heavy Trojans are led on offense by Louisville commit Shaun Boykins who has accounted for 578 YDS receiving and 9 TDs (8 receiving & 1 rushing) through 3 games (no stats posted yet for PRP game). On the defensive side of the ball, NH is led by Mason Howard (17 total tackles, 4.5 TFLs & 3.5 sacks) and D1 prospect Darius Wiley (12 total tackles & 5 TFLs). North Hardin has enough athletes to make this one interesting for sure, but word on the street is Mr. Boykins may not be available for this game, which would definitely put a huge dent in North Hardin's chances. Will North Hardin come up big and defend their home turf or will the Chargers avenge back-to-back, running clock losses to the Trojans from 2019 & 2020?

I agree with everything @BEChargerssaid to a degree. I think they do have enough offense….if they choose to use it is the question. Once they get into 3A play, their defense will keep them in any game, but they’ve got to spread the ball around a bit more on offense. I’d like to see their QB pull the ball every once in a while. I think he’s the key. If they start leaving the ball in his hands a bit more, it’ll really help to open up things for Stone.

Yes, it’s a magnet school & one of the best academic schools in the state. They’re also known for their performing arts program/school (YPAS)

They haven’t beaten Male or St X since 2020. They are 4-6 against KY schools the last 2 years. This is not what Trinity fans are used to & quite frankly, not what any of us are used to. I’m sure Coach Cobb can coach…Trinity fans just don’t want it to be there anymore.

I’m a firm believer in giving someone or some entity what they’ve rightfully worked for & earned….and JCPS has definitely earned their look.

I actually agree with this. Crayton is a good ball player, but Boykins is probably a bit better. Even if they “offset” each other, PRP doesn’t have anyone like Ronald Lunz to pick up the pieces.

HS football has changed quite a bit. 20-25+ years ago, freshmen didn’t play varsity at schools like St X & Trinity and only one every few years would even play at Male. In fact, I remember that if a sophomore played at St X or Trinity, they were the real deal. If someone like Brian Brohm played for Trinity today, he’d start as a freshman as well. That’s not taking anything away from Zane Johnson though, it’s just a fact. The young man has the tools to be a top P5 recruit.

The young man can play. As long as the Trinity fans are patient, they’ll reap the rewards in the very near future. He’s a good kid as well.

Does the strength of schedule component only apply to teams that a team has play to that point or does it apply to their entire schedule, including the next 5 or 6 teams still left on their schedule (hopefully that makes sense)?

I appreciate the work and effort, as I know it has to be a lot, but some of these are head scratchers for sure.

The Central Yellow Jackets will take the trip to Mt. Washington on Friday to face the Bullitt East Chargers. This will be the 11th meeting between the old Class 3A District 3 rivals. The series is currently tied at 5 wins each. Central comes into the game with a 1-3 record, but as usual, their games have been against tough competition with the likes of Manual, St. X & Cincy LaSalle. They are led by All-state RB and Division 1, FBS P5 recruit Cortez Stone, who is currently averaging 145 rushing YPG. The Yellow Jackets are a run heavy team, running the ball at almost a 3:1 run vs. pass clip. On the defensive side of the ball, they are led by Avaion Johnson-McNeal who is averaging 8.5 tackles per game. The Chargers are currently 3-1 on the season, coming of their 45-0 win over Bullitt Central as they opened their new stadium and re-dedicated Mike Egan Field last Friday. The Chargers are led by QB Jack Zwernemann, who has passed for 584 yards this season, while running for another 243 (no stats turned in for last Friday night as of today). The strength of the Bullitt East defense is their front 7. Can the BE defense keep Mr. Stone in check on Friday will be the main question. Will this be a long night for the Chargers or will they move to 2-0 at home in their new stadium?

Unfortunately, no I don’t. Until the other two programs invest in their youth program the way that BE has, I think these results will become the norm. I will say that I think NB is in better position to improve than BC is currently.
