It was on our sideline. It looked like he had a little bobble when he first got his hands on it that caused him to hit out of bounds before he got full control. But the video might have had a clearer view. It would have been up higher and not had to the players interfering.

The football broadcasts are mostly done by the girl's basketball coaching staff. They do a great job.

Turnovers were the difference, and not just the number, but the type. Kentucky had 14 turnovers, and 11 of those were steals by Louisville. Louisville only had 6 turnovers, 4 on Kentucky steals. A difference in 7 live-ball turnovers is huge in a game between two fairly equal teams. The result is much how I thought it would be with this matchup being this early in the season. If it had been at Rupp, I suspect it would have played out the opposite with Kentucky coming out on top in a close game. How it might work out in March, on a neutral site, who knows. Too many unknowns and variables between now and then. I'm just glad this is a rivalry again. Neither one of these programs should be good enough to win 13 out of 17 like UK had done before tonight.

To say Monroe County's run defense is lacking is being generous. Against Campbellsville and Somerset, the Falcons gave up a combined 807 yards on 79 carries and 12 touchdowns. LCA has a balanced offense, but I think they gash Monroe County on the ground in this one. LCA jumps out to a running clock and wins 42-14.

I just wasn't impressed with Paris when I watched them play Somerset early in the season. They had some speed, but weren't very physical, and weren't very good on either line of scrimmage. Sayre isn't what they were last season. But I think they've got enough to move on to round 3, 35-13.

I think he's talking about Beechwood, Mayfield, LCA, Belfry and Owensboro Catholic. They've been ranked 1-5 in some order all season. Most people have them in a well above the rest of 2A.

You certainly put a lot of work into this. So teams would not know which division they were competing in until the playoffs?

I've been very impressed with what Coach Stonebreaker has accomplished at Danville in less than a season. And they will come ready to play, and won't be intimidated by Somerset. They could certainly come into the Briar Patch and pull off a victory. What gives me pause in that scenario is this: Meaux and Cruver seem to be they keys to the Admiral's offense. As 8th graders last season, they were largely shut down by Meece Middle in an easy Somerset win. I know it's a year later and they have certainly grown, gotten stronger and matured. But they're not just going to against the Somerset freshmen that dominated their team last season. They're going up against the Somerset upperclassmen that beat Danville 42-10 last season. Several of those freshmen play very little due to the older players being better. I think that due to Meaux's speed and ability, the Ads will break off some long runs. I just think they'll have a hard time sustaining drives. I think Danville makes a game of it, but ultimately comes up a little short. Somerset 35-14 in a game that isn't settled until the 4th quarter.

Barring any upsets, the winner of this game would be the 4 seed in the West, and would travel to Owensboro Catholic in round 3.

Going into the game tonight, Kris Hughes, and his brother Kam, had a combined 6581 yards for Somerset. The Hughes brothers carried the ball for against 4 miles for the Jumpers over their careers.

I don't think the ejected anyone. The white hat never gave the motion signaling an ejection. They must have called multiple fouls on Washington County on that one. Because Somerset squibbed the ball, and the Commanders would have had it around their own 45, and they ended up about the 18.

It was actually a bad snap, no kick, so Carroll is still 59-59 on the year.

Danville (9-2) travels to Somerset (10-1) to take on the Briar Jumpers. These two are very familiar with each other as they have met at least once every season since 2009. The Admirals jumped out to a 20-0 lead against Green County in the opening round and hung on to win 20-18. Somerset gave up a touchdown on the opening kickoff against Washington County but settled in and pulled away for a 49-21 victory. Danville has had a remarkable turnaround under first year Coach Steve Stonebreaker. After losing 23 games in a row the Admirals scored more points in the opening game than they did all last season and have only suffered two setbacks all season, one to 2A powerhouse Lexington Christian Academy. The Briar Jumpers lost their starting quarterback, and the game, in their opener against South Laurel, but have won 10 in a row. Danville leads the all-time series 54-29, but those 29 losses are the most that the Admirals have against any program. Since the rivalry picked back up in 2009 the Jumpers are 14-9 in the matchup. Somerset Coach Clay Clevenger won State Championships at Danville as both a player and a coach, and is 2-0 against the Admirals since taking over the helm at Somerset. This one could be one of the better matchups in the 2nd round, and will add another chapter in the long history between these old rivals. Who moves on to round 3?
