Regular Season Records: PT 9-1  / Taylor County 7-3

Offensive PPG:  PT 45.4  TC 24.5

Defensive PPG Allowed:  PT 17.1  TC 11.7

Senior players on roster: PT  21  TC 15

These two last played in the 3A playoffs during the 2022 season with PT winning 37-0. Oddly enough, that's the exact score Taylor County lost to Letcher County Central by last season in the first round of the playoffs. Taylor County ended up losing 3 in a row to end the season after a 7-0 start. A year ago they ended on a 3 game winning streak to end the regular season.

Taylor County's defense had 3 shutouts on the year and had 6 games where they allowed less than 10 points. They will need to play big and take some chances in this one.

As good as PT's offense has been, the last game against Christian County was really interesting, considering PT's starting QB Stone Crowe threw 3 passes and starting RB Demarkus Wilson ran for 3 times. PT ran 15 offensive plays the entire game. Been a while since I've seen anything like that. Tilghman scored on a kickoff return, fumble recovery, punt return and a pick-six before the offense ever had a chance to do anything.

This is the time of year where PT coach Sean Thompson has made some noise since taking over in 2021. In his first 4 seasons, he has been the semi-finals or further 3 of the 4 years, including 2 championship games. The lone season they didn't, they made it to the quarterfinals against a sensational CAL team in 2022 and lost by 6. CAL blew everyone else out. Their closest game that whole season was 37 points, and they won the championship game 38-0.

Saying all that, Coach Thompson has done something when it counted that previous PT coaches lacked in. He has made adjustments. He used what he had and if a certain game called for something a little out of the ordinary, he was game for it. He will pull it all out of the bag when the need arises. So, given his history thus far, I am expecting him to get his version ready as well. It's no secret they didn't look their best on several occasions this go around, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt from what I've seen so far that maybe he can get it going once again. To have a chance with this 4A field, he'll have to. This class is loaded yet again. It's going to be tough sledding for whoever is fortunate enough to come out on top.

Did Taylor have some late-season injuries?   They were cruising the first half of the season!

Yeah, really hurt what they were doing after having a great first half.

Taylor has had a bunch of injuries at the end of the year. It has been fascinating to watch District 1 play out this year. I would say that every team in the district is very similar in talent level and had a chance to win each district game. Very curious to see the scores between these 2 districts in the next 2 rounds!

Tilghman will likely roll in this one against a very beat up Taylor Co team.

I saw the Kentucky State University band is playing halftime.  Interesting!!!

I believe some Tilghman/KSU alumni put it together. I’ve seen a few of their halftime shows over the years and they put on a heck of show!

All I know is that this PT team can be a handful when clicking and playing up to their potential. That hasn't always been the case this year, but, when they're on, they're a scary match up for anyone they may come across.
