  1. Greenwood driving the 75-ish miles to meet up with Apollo, who wins?
  2. I thought under the current format everyone qualified. The 5th place team in 6a district 1 makes a trip halfway across the state for a round 1 matchup in the Louisville area. Is that situation specific to 6a?
  3. The only team Henderson could beat at Rash Stadium is Owensboro Middle School. Play it 22 miles to the West and they would lose. Playing in Owensboro they lose by 4-5 TD’s.
  4. Apollo TD and failed 2 pt conversion DC 43 Apollo 21
  5. DC receives the kickoff in the 3rd Scores on the ensuing drive. 36-0
  6. Humphrey on a busted pass play runs it about 50 yards into the end zone. PAT good 22-0 DC leads
  7. County strikes first TD and 2pt conversion 8-0 DC with 2:20 in the 1st
  8. I’m a Graves Alum, was completely embarrassed by the behavior of their football team the last year Apollo played down there. The culmination of which occurred when a Graves player looked at an Apollo player lying on the ground and stomped on his crotch.
  9. Because anything can happen when those two schools meet up: what happens to Apollo if they beat DC Friday?
  10. Has Mayfield ever scored 70 points in a basketball game? When I was in school they were more of an also-ran to Graves, Tilghman, and Marshall.
  11. So basically a number that’s equally arbitrary.
  12. Case-by-case basis. Two years ago, Mcracken and Apollo went to an 81-51 score. With the way the two offenses were firing on all cylinders, I don’t know if I would have stopped pouring it on when my team scored its 70th point.
  13. I still say that one has the potential to be much closer than anyone expects. I could be wrong, but its true across all sports: when those two schools get together anything can happen.
  14. Obviously, I’m not going to condone taunting and flipping the bird if that happened, but as far as shaking hands…. Marshall County lined up tonight and Apollo didn’t shake hands. We haven’t had a post-game handshake in the Owensboro area since the start of the pandemic. Last year, I know, it was a KHSAA expectation that teams would NOT shake hands due to the pandemic. I’m not interested in a discussion about the possibilities of transmission shaking hands vs at the line of scrimmage. I just wanted to clarify that the non-handshake in and of itself might not be meant as disrespectful.
  15. Final score from a slop fest in Benton/Draffenville.
  16. I umpired baseball at multiple levels for several years. I completely lost my love for the game until I got out of it. It’s been 15 years; and At this point in my life, I’d rather be poor than go through the ranks of working up the ladder from freshman/JV etc. I’d rather be homeless than earn a dollar working rec league. The higher up the ladder you get, the more tolerable the coaches. If I had a nickel for every coach daddy I heard spout off some mythical baseball nonsense like “tie goes to the runner,” I could have retired years ago. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was a coach daddy physically assaulting a friend of mine in the middle of the field. He had been in my face more than once, but I poop turds bigger than him. My buddy wasn’t so lucky and he got bulldogged to the ground in a headlock. The ultimate karma: coach daddy’s kid never played beyond JV, and my buddy is a full time MLB umpire who has worked a couple of post season series.
  17. The shortage of officials is nationwide. Every month, NFHS sends their newsletter. For the last 2-3 years, it seems like 80% of the cover stories have revolves around the causes, effects, and potential solutions for the shortage.
