All the players mentioned above are great players. Boyle is going to be a really good team next year and the years to come. This 2020 class has been in the works since middle school and a lot of time and effort has been put in for this group to be successful in high school. With this 2020 class not winning state the last two years I think it may be a while before another Boyle team wins state. Doesn't mean they won't have great teams and it is extremely hard to win a state title. I just think this was their best chance to win state for a while these last two years. Brandon Smith is a great coach and he could get them on another run though.

Yeah I don't disagree with it being IMG but timing when he decided to go there wasn't good.

Kid seems like a great player. With him leaving FD a few weeks before the season started does that cause any issues with coaches/players welcoming him back? There is no doubt about what he brings on the field just wondered about the locker room.

Sounds like a bad situation. So to fully understand does Garrard dress 17 guys on their varsity bench? If so the other 9 guys dress but can't play in a game? How are they going to play a game Friday if they can't play Tuesday?

I saw where the Garrard vs Mercer game was cancelled for tonight and not being rescheduled. Any Garrard folks got the inside scoop on this?

Rankings look good. Still too early to figure out what everybody has especially a team like Somerset and Boyle. I saw in another post that Kaelin Drakeford for Mercer is averaging 38 points and 11 rebounds so far. Mercer will have their starting point guard Jamisen Lewis for the 1st time this season tomorrow against Garrard. Hoping Sebastian gets back quick. Hate to see anyone miss games their senior year.

How about DCA beating Burgin? Burgin beat DCA pretty bad last year. DCA looks to have several middle school players on their roster with some 7th graders playing meaningful minutes.

Mercer got beat by 1 I think. Their defense and rebounding looked pretty bad. They were without starting PG Jamisen Lewis. Drakeford had a big game scoring wise.

Mercer has their roster on KHSAA now. They have 9 seniors, 2 juniors, 2 sophomores and 2 freshmen.

When we played CAL in the 1st round I thought they got away with a ton holding that was not called. They also had several plays that could have been flagged that were on the line of dirty play and not called. We don't have any history with CAL and I just chalked it up to just that game. It looks like others feel CAL has a history of it. I think CAL was better on that night but the non holding calls definitely were a factor in the pass game.

I agree both could be good players. I would be surprised if Bottoms gets any playing time. Dunn will get to play but not going to be much of a difference maker this year.

Who are the good young players you are talking about with Mercer & Garrard?

I think it was more like 2. But if somebody could name 7 starters that didn’t play would love to hear their names.

It's all good. The reason doesn't matter. We just like that you would rather play Mercer. We hope we get the opportunity as we have to beat the 3 seed in our district and defending state champs in the 1st round of the playoffs first.

I love all the picks for CAL. Mercer was a big underdog the 1st time against CAL and have been most of the season which is what they like. I also love that Desales would rather play Mercer. The 1st game was back and forth the whole game with Mercer up 10 with under 1 min to play. CAL is a great team and this one could go either way.

Yeah you never know. Cline probably would have preferred a dry field to cut on also. Good luck to you guys in the playoffs also.

I agree with you on 3A. West Carter is not a bad team which is what I was saying earlier in the year. They did score 14 on you all on a muddy field. We shut them out.

Who was the poster from Russell that kept saying Mercer wasn't a good team because we beat West Carter 21-0 1st game of the season? Seems like they said all year they were going to show it at the end of the season against West Carter.

Have to give Desales a lot of credit. Mercer was up 23-20 with 9 minutes left in the game. Desales goes up 27-23 with 5 minutes left in the 4th QTR and the rest is history. Mercer had a good game plan in the 1st half and were balanced with the run and pass game. Seemed as though Mercer came out a little conservative in the 2nd half and Desales completely stuffed the run on 1st and 2nd down putting Mercer in 3rd and long and they were unable to pass block in the 2nd half. I was extremely impressed with Desales upfront on both sides of the ball. Nobody has lined up and ran the ball on Mercer like that all year. Desales seemed to run 3-4 plays the whole 2nd half. It didn't matter that Mercer knew they were running or where they were running they had no answer or adjustment for it. Was this Desales highest rushing total of the year?

PP92 is right if you want chain restaurants such as Applebees and that type of thing Harrodsburg doesn't have any. Harrodsburg does have great local places that you can't find in Danville such as Kentucky Fudge Company on Main Street downtown Harrodsburg, Old Owl Tavern (within Beaumont Inn) and Shakertown. Shakertown if you have some time to kill before the game. When I travel to a new town I would rather eat a unique local place rather than a chain if I have the choice but that's just me.

Mercer running clock 7 min left in the 2nd qtr

SW had two of the top 10 players in the region playing in that game against MC and also on a team that had a losing record for the season. I sometimes question how good players really are that play on teams with a losing record.

Yeah I agree 100%. This list of teams and players to me is all over the place. How is SW the #5 team? They had a losing record last year and get beat out of the 1st round of districts by a 9-24 McCreary team. SW and Lincoln are the only teams with two players on here. Lincoln won Region and SW did what I described above.

Both are great QB’s and deserve all they get. I hope everyone understands how much easier it is to play QB and how much better you look when you have time to throw without pressure in your face every play and also when you are throwing to open receivers. It is really hard to compare QBs because pass protection and throwing to open receivers makes a huge difference in production and stats.
