This thread is completely awesome in so many ways. Thank you to so many for being who you are. You provide endless comedy throughout the week! Beechies - 35 Colonels - 17 Accept it. Beechwood is a better team on paper this year. IMO, they would be without Hergott returning. He is no doubt a difference make but this Beechwood Senior Class is loaded. Take away a wide left FG last year and BW wins, and returns much more than CovCath. Good luck to both teams Friday. Some great kids on both sidelines. Ft Mitchell will be electric, and I love it for all the kids to experience after the mostly empty stands a year ago……..

Crone had the greatest fake I’ve ever seen in High School football. Players, coaches, refs, fans. No one saw him cruising into the end zone. He is a very, very good player.

Wibberly is a problem for everyone. ?

Most impressive to me is the Tiger Defense. There is a wall upfront, with a ROTATION. O’Shea, Gibbs, Vanderpool, Jackson, Campbell, Slusher……. First time in a long time that 2 way players are getting rest on D and the team not missing a beat. Heck, Slusher isnt even starting. How about that coming off the bench? These fellas are stout as a unit. Get past them and you meet a LB core 2nd to none. With off season champion Austin Waddell roaming the Middle, with Berger and Hatfield flanking him, good luck. If you happen to get past all that, you meet a Defensive Back unit that is deeper than I’ve ever seen in HS football. My point? Time for focus and accolades for this Tiger team to shift from the Offense to the Defense. We all know what the Offense can do, and should do this year. But what the Defensive unit has done thus far preparing for and playing this season, well, it has positioned BW for a historic run. Time for folks to take notice. Go tigers……..

Can’t speak to the other Freshman teams, but saw Beechwood touch the ball 4 times against Cooper and score 4 TDs in an abbreviated scrimmage after the Varsity/JV last week. Much to the dismay to many on this thread, the Beechies look to be reloading for quite some time to come. ?

I also believe that Fairdale’s QB went down on 2nd or 3rd play of game, Due to intense pressure from Beechwoods D-Line. Fairdale had plenty of talent, Beechwood just too much up front on both sides for Fairdale. RB Avery Courtney also shined. On to Paintsville…….

I know nothing about Fairdale, but Beechwood is loaded. Very deep. My only question marks coming in this year were at QB, OL replacement for graduating key guy Nachazel who plowed with Slusher, and kicker replacement. QB - check. Cam returned. OL - Check. Austin Waddell obviously hit the weights hard and slotted in beautiful in the 2 scrimmages. K - Check? New guy (hear a soccer player?) looked good against Cooper. Every kick looked better. Gonna be a fun team to watch. Go Tigers…….

Gonna be a big year in Ft Mitchell. It was clear that Mr. Football returning was icing on the cake to a stacked team.

Hilltoppers pick up 3 recruits tonight, 2 O-lineman from NKY. Big night for Beechwood and Dixie Heights programs. Congrats boys. #kyboysstayinghome

Research the O-line coaches at schools close to you. get a feel for who has some stability in position. Typically, 80% of the noise/hype at these camps are around the position players. Don’t get distracted by it. Focus on the lineman. The OL / DL always end up going through 1 on 1 drills at the end. They get great instruction 1 on 1. In our experience, lineman friendly camps were: -best of the MidWest in Indianapolis (combine, so as someone else said here you can gauge where you’re at). -Western Ky - great staff -UK - the big blue wall mantra lives on through new coach was very engaged entire time -west Virginia University- hands down best camp we attended from start to finish. -UC - good camp - Marshall - new staff in place and big culture change happening I see The Herd making a long run of success Other tips: -always take a camp chair -pack a cooler long days sometimes in hot environments remember, school is out during these camps and seasons haven’t started, so generally no concessions -stick around after camp breaks. Majority of kids walk away. I always made mine go up to head coach and introduce themselves, thank them for the opportunity, and tell them they want to be a part of the program. Sell yourself! -explore explore explore doors are all open and all schools are inviting explore the stadiums and enjoy -take pics for your kid they may not admit it, but they love it Remember, none of this matters if you don’t hit it hard in weight room Dec - May. You can tell who has used the off season to bulk up when the drills start. That is where kids “stocks rise”, the dedication when no one is looking. Good luck!!!

If I’m not mistaken, BW ruling to play mandated staying for entire school year or diploma withheld. Either way, all you experts on here speaking on Cam’s behalf are cracking me up. Maybe, just maybe he went for a camp, workout, visit, ended up really liking the program and coaches, and wanted to commit. Is that possible? Move on folks. He will be back. Let it go………

Beechwood didn’t return to school until March. I can assure you with 100% that BW kids were affected academically. That’s coming from a parent. Is what it is folks. congrats Cam! Keep grinding!!!

Will Hummel get more reps this season? Kid is way under utilized IMO. Pound for pound toughest player in NKY for years IMO. Would love to see him become a more focal point of offense. And before anyone cites his size, refer to Julian Edelman .... ?

Cam Patterson (‘22) had a great showing at UC’s Midnight Madness camp. Select invites from all over the Midwest and he shined IMO. Looking for big things from the Howelit > Patterson combo this season........

Slusher and Wibberly were both selected to participate in the UC Midnight Madness Camp to kickoff NCAA’s open recruiting period. Camp was invite only and maybe 20 participants overall. Scott’s Cam Patterson (‘22 WR) also was spotted among the 20 or so kids from all over MidWest. I’m partial to these kids, but all had great showings. Patterson in particular had a Randy Moss TD catch that brought the coaches downfield to greet him. Great night for NKY football, and expect big years from all three.

That I do not know bud. Evan has been hitting the circuit hard, so very possible.

Wanted to start a thread for the boys in the trenches. Got two that I know of getting great offers, probably more out there. Give the big fellas some time in the limelight! Bottom line to me is I keep hearing folks complain that these kids are “taking” a spot for another kid. I don’t buy it. Coaches need to win to keep job. To win, you play best players. You want to be best, work harder than anyone in the off season. Talent helps, but hard work will persevere in most all cases. Guess I’m just from a simpler era.....

I can see your point, but no different than I was in high school and a kid showed up from St Louis, outplayed us, and earned a starting spot. We weren’t “owed” anything, we shoulda worked harder in off season. Look, I see all sides. But my point is its April, and you got months to prepare for the upcoming season. That’s a good warning. Does is suck? Maybe. But ask that kid returning how it was not attending school in person, not going to prom, not having a graduation. Then ask them how it feels to have the NCAA give all their kids an extra year, take those potential scholarships they would have earned in an otherwise normal year, yada yada yada. It never ends. man up. Take the job from them if you want it.

As “planned”? Come on, you gotta earn your position and that starts on day 1 on any season. Out work then, out play them. If your coach is guaranteeing spots to any kids that’s a problem IMO. ?‍♂️
