  1. Why are you tap-dancing around the point, which is 100% germane to this thread given that a technical foul helped change the momentum in Beechwood's favor? If you're going to low-key say that someone is operating without class (the word in the quote, note mine), why not just call it out and go all-in? They aren't a student, so unless I'm misunderstanding the rules, I would think that is fair game. Again, in this case, it appears to be wholly germane to the discussion of the game and how it unfolded.
  2. I agree. You knew someone was going to lose minutes if and when Michael came back, and it looks like the lion-share of those are coming from Fleek. This team has a ton of solid front-court high school players, but are not blessed with the same talent level or depth in the back-court.
  3. Congrats to the Wood. Twice is a trend!! Hope CovCath likes that 1st round matchup with Cooper. Coach Goetz has to be over the moon.
  4. Would you agree that the most similar non-private school to Ryle in NKY is Highlands? Or maybe Beechwood? Both are also very affluent, which I think is the point you are dancing around. Can the culture / parental support at HHS and the Wood not be replicated at Ryle? If you're reply is "no", why is that?
  5. While I think both parties may be better off be separating, I think we need to be careful using wins and losses as the rationale for replacing a H.S. coach. Give the beloved Dave Faust as an example, in the 16 years since he won the Region in 2003, he has 8 winning seasons, 8 losing seasons, and is 17 games under .500. That is counting the 13-12 he has thus far and assuming he ends with a winning record, so it is in the 8 winning seasons. No one, rightfully so, has ever called for a change at SHDHS. He has had 3 straight losing seasons on two occasions over the last 9 years. Let's not make this move at Ryle about wins and losses, let's stick to the fact that for a myriad of reasons it was probably not a good fit. Especially for a young coach and a "very passionate" set of parents.
  6. You left out "ONE OF" in your sentence. They will be in the mix with CovCath, Cooper, Beechwood, St. Henry...to be sure. I don't think they will be, singular, "...the team to beat..." in the region.
  7. I believe this will be Coach Goetz's first trip to a Regional Tourney, is that right? If so, a hearty congratulations, welcome to the party at the Bank.
  8. Congrats to NewCath on a solid transition year, so many good young players on the Breds. Congrats to Coach Kevin and the Birds on a trip to the Regional.
  9. Hmm, a ballgame thus far. I assume the 2nd half will widen, but kudos to Holmes for being ready to play.
  10. Highlands has no choice but to take him back since they live in the district, and my understanding from those in the Fort is he will in fact be back at Highlands for the last bit of his senior season. The "ball boy" comment seems harsh and unnecessary.
  11. Kentucky by 12-14, and expect them to have a HUGE advantage in points in the paint. I expect UK to shoot worse than their season average from the arc, but make up for it with complete domination around the basket.
  12. I love those stories, not the star on the 8th grade team, keeps working and developing, and eventually it all clicks. So happy for him!!
  13. Thanks for sharing. Congrats to all of the young men being honored, particularly the three Player of the Year winners.
  14. His shooting percentage in their losses this year have all been very low. All part of the development of a young player figuring out his game.
  15. This reads just like the Patriots' attempts at making themselves the underdog. EVERYONE is saying, at worst, Cooper is 2nd favorite (I think they are THE favorite), but you take the "I hope everyone is underestimating us" angle. Next thing I expect is for you to start chanting "We're Still Here!!" over and over.
  16. Feel free to offer your own opinions, but IN MY OPINION, Beechwood, on a big floor with a lot of space, would beat Highlands.
  17. I would rank them like this heading into the post-season: Cooper CovCath Newport Beechwood Highlands St Henry Conner Lloyd
  18. Double digits. Offensive Rebounds. Second chance points.
