I've got a joke. You have a Highlands guy and a CCH guy in a room and they are bitter enemies . How do you make them friends?..............You put a a Beechwood guy in the room.

It s pretty nice facility. It has plenty of seating, but if memory serves me right parking may be an issue if you have older folks with you.

I understand Beechwood had an 8th grade quarterback, that was starting above the current quarterback at the beginning of the season. From what I understand the 8th grader broke his collar bone on his throwing arm early on and hasn't played the rest of the season. Is this true? If so, what does that mean for next year? Good problem to have for Beechwood.

In my opinion, generally speaking using the CCH/Highalnds score as a comparison when comparing to the rest of the region is not a good one to use. In my opinion this game is an anomaly. This is one of the most heated rivalries in the state and usually the underdog team that year (whoever that might be) usually raises the level of their game. Where as either team may not have that same level of intensity against a Conner, Cooper or Boone Co. team. There are times when Highlands has had a far superior team and CCH played way over their heads and made it a close game and vice versa. This year I think both teams are fairly evenly matched, but the game intensity for both teams was pretty high. Not sure this is a good representative for either team.

No. It's getting better, but they are still missing some significant contributors. The four that I can think of off the top of my head are: Krallman (MLB/TE), Link, (WR/DB), Suwinski (OLB/WR/TE), Lanham (WR/DB). There are more, but I don't know who the rest are off the top of my head. The four mentioned were in the starting lineup or had significant play time in the Elder game.

If I recall correctly his dad coached grade school basketball at Holy Family in Covington, so my assumption would be that parish. But if you are implying something else, what does it matter anymore. I encourage you to take a deeper look at some of the other schools and see what they might be doing.

Out 2-3 weeks with a concussion.

By my count they have 13 kids out. Six of them are two way starters or get significant play time which equates out to 8-12 positions on the field. I'm a little short on knowledge about the exact positions, but I think 3 of the 4 linebackers are out and two of those three are out for the season. Flip those three guys to offense and they are a tight end, a wide out and and offensive linemen. They were also missing 2 wide outs/defensive backs and a defensive linemen. I give kudos to the boys that were relocated into those positions this week. They really stepped up! I think even the kicker made a few tackles at linebacker. Also, want to give a shout out to CCH's defensive front three. I don't know their names, but they are tough.

Not a bad win considering they have so many injured players.

Campbell Co. and CCH will play this week. I've been told that Campbell has a very good team. This should be a good game and a great test for both teams. I'm looking froward to watching this one! I assume Campbell is 2-0?

This Cov. Cath. team is going to be pretty good. CCH was winning at halftime 12-0 on a pick 6 and a nice drive by the offense, resulting in a touch down pass in the corner of the end zone from Jackson Reardon to Oliver Link. I was most impressed with the defensive. The defense looked really good with interceptions and sacks at critical times of the game. This team is much better than most are giving credit. They went win less in the upper division of the GCYL last year but only had a few practices before they had their first game because of covid restrictions. The OH schools had been practicing for weeks. They also had a lot of first year players who were good athletes but lacked football game experience. I look for these guys to be one of the top teams in NKY.

CCH vs Elder at Cov. Cath. is Saturday 11:30 after the JV game is correct.

I know it's early, but is there any idea as to who will be the teams to watch this year. I've heard Beechwood, Campbell Co. and Ryle are supposed to be really good but haven't heard about Cov Cath or Highlands. Any insight?

I am told from my senior son at CCH that the school requested the move so more students can attend. I also understand that the allotment of tickets sent to both schools was sold out in about 20 minutes for both teams. I believe this was the right move by CCH. This will allow for a loud exciting venue for the players to play in with the most people possible. The players/students need this. The seniors for both teams deserve this as this year has been no where near a normal year for them. The atmosphere will be charged with two of the best teams in the state squaring off in the first round of the regional tournament with two of the best student cheering sections "bringing the noise". I am excited for this game to happen and applaud CCH for requesting the move. Unfortunately, these teams will not be meeting in the finals and even more so one of these teams' season will end tonight. I am thankful for all of the efforts put forth to make this happen and wish the winner to bring home a state title.

I can't comment on the public schools, but I have seen several of the 8th grade Catholic Schools play this year in their "non-sanctioned" league. St. Pius: Nolan Ruthsatz and Auggie Eillerman St Agnes: Dylan Ryan Blessed Sacrament: Andrew Bessler and Dylan Lanham St Joe (Crescent Springs): No team this year but Hudson Scheiver IHM: Jake Stewert and Reis Can't remember his first name. St. Paul No team this year Ben McEvoy and William McElheney (William is playing Freshman & JV at Holy Cross) St Thomas: has a very nice team with a couple of solid players whose names I am not familiar with.

What is in the pipeline from the 7th and 8th grade levels? I understand the 7th grade won their league but I have heard nothing about the 8th grade. How did they do and what are some names to be watching for?

Those are two nice wins. Congratulations! How long have they been able to practice? My son plays for the CYF (Colonel Youth Football) Program. We just started practicing last week with hopes of getting games started soon.
