  1. On Hancock's next possession, the Cardinals get a pick 6 by Alonzo Daniels and the PAT is good... 14-0 Mayfield with 6:14 left in 1st quarter..
  2. Matthews picks up 12 for a 1st down, then Stinson hits Daniels for another 1st down.. Stinson hits Cade Neely down to the 1 and then a QB keeper puts the Cards on the board 1st... PAT is good, Mayfield 7 Hancock Co 0 ...
  3. Hancock loses 1 on 1st down, loses 3 more on 2nd down and then loses 3 more on 3rd down and forced to punt..1st and 10 Mayfield at own 47 yard line..
  4. Hancock picks up a big 1st down on a 3rd and 13 pass and its 1st and 10 at the 38..
  5. Hancock gets the ball 1st and has it 1st and 10 at own 24..
  6. Coopers stats need to be added before CCs.. They, at least had a couple of finals appearances
  7. Hancock's not a bad team and I expect them to hang around for a quarter or 2, then Mayfield pulls away.. Look for it to be a 21-7, 28-7 type score at the half with the Cards scoring 24 more in the 2nd half to just 7 more for Hancock, leaving the score 45-14 or possibly 52-14..
  8. 35-14 Panthers.... The score could be closer if the turnover battle goes PTs way, but, too much E'Town in this one.. The thing with Tilghman is they play themselves a very tough schedule and won't be awed in this one as they've seen teams as good, but, I just don't think they have enough offense to keep up in this one..
  9. IMO, football is supposed to be a competitive sport and not everyone deserves a participation ribbon or in this case, a playoff game. The majority of these 1st round games that require some travel will have poor gates, so, from a financial standpoint, I don't see the advantage of having all or the majority of teams earning a bid.
  10. I'd say S. Warren will be favored next week. Christian has won every game, but, haven't played anyone as good as they'll play next week and they've not exactly been dominant against that schedule.. I know comparing scores vs common opponents is far from an exact science, but, it's about all we have.. Christian Co 21 Graves Co 14 S.Warren 38 Graves Co 12 Christian Co 15 Hopkinsville 12 S.Warren 35 Hopkinsville 14 Christian Co 54 Barren Co 6 S. Warren 50 Barren Co 6 Both teams dominated Barren Co and who knows who called the dogs off first, so, I don't think that game tells you much, however, S. Warren dominated the other 2 common opponents while CC struggled with both. It would appear that SW is maybe a TD or 2 better, but, I'll admit, it wouldn't surprise me to see either one win this one..
  11. Mayfield 55 Todd Central 0 with 5:00 minutes left in the game..
  12. Greenwood 21 Apollo 14 with 9 mins. left in 3rd qtr..
  13. After a Rebel fumble setting the Cards up in good field position, they score again right before the half to go up 42-0..
  14. With 3:12 left in 2nd qtr, it's now 28-0 Cardinals..
  15. Mayfield 21 Todd Co 0 with 6:18 to go in 2nd qtr..
  16. Mayfield 14 Todd Central 0, scoring on there 1st 2 offensive possessions, after holding Todd to a 3 and out on it's opening possession and forcing a fumble on it's 2nd..
  17. Van Cleave has been, by far, the most productive player in 2A and Most Valuable to his team, at least, to the teams that have a chance to make it a long ways in the playoffs, which, imo, should be a prerequisite for an award like this.. Wright is a higher ranked college prospect, but, as far as what you've done as a HS player for your team and this should also be a production award, it's Van Cleave, hands down. I don't think who has the best offer sheet should come into play for something like this..
  18. CAL ... With Carr in the line-up, still as talented as any team in the class, but, after loss to NCC, have been somewhat an after thought in many eyes...
  19. I like Mayfield's chances.. Overall, I don't think they're the most talented team in 2a, but, here's why I think they can win it: 1) OL Pass Protection - Stinson and Guthrie have hardly been touched when throwing the ball.. Mayfield's strength is there WR core and when the QBs can get them the ball relatively easy, it makes them extremely dangerous, as they have 3 or 4 kids capable of taking it to the house at any given time... 2) Experienced Coaching Staff that always seems to have a solid game plan and the kids ready to play.. They always seem to make solid adjustments during the game, as well.. 3) Composure.. This team has been down and smacked in the mouth a few times this year, but, always seems to just keep coming at you for 4 quarters and never gives in to it.. They don't get rattled and always expect to win, regardless of the circumstances or what's being thrown at them.. I suppose you could throw this under coaching above, but, honestly, this is more the way these kids are.. A lot of big hearts and determination.. 4) Home Field Advantage throughout the playoffs.. Mayfield is tough enough anywhere, but, especially tough at home and they have that this year all the way to the Title game.. Plus, Mayfield's a long haul from Louisville, (4Hour bus ride)when they finally face a team capable of knocking them off.. That can be tricky for the opposition, regardless of who you're playing and you never really know how a team will react to it..
