BluegrassPreps Class 2A Football Rankings (10/30) Discussion

Class 2A

Following an action packed regular season that showed Class 2A flex it's collective muscle, the playoffs promise to bring even more drama and competitive football. The Top 5 teams in the Class have essentially stayed at the top throughout the season, just in varying order. All but Danville (who was open), closed the regular season with victories, the most impressive being Mayfield handling 3A Caldwell County. The back end of the Top 10 and the teams just outside looking in did not share the same fortune with Lloyd, Glasgow, Newport Central Catholic, Owensboro Catholic, Monroe County, and Prestonsburg all losing. Owen County and Green County each secured eye opening victories and will look to parlay that into First Round victories. Owen County will host Washington County, while Green County travels to Lloyd.

1. Danville vs. East Ridge

2. DeSales vs. Gallatin County

3. Mayfield vs. Todd County Central

4. Lexington Christian Academy vs. Leslie County

5. Christian Academy- Louisville vs. Carroll County

6. Somerset at Shelby Valley

7. Walton-Verona vs. Shawnee

8. Glasgow vs. Covington Holy Cross

9. Lloyd vs. Green County

10. Newport Central Catholic vs. Metcalfe County

I thought Owensboro Catholic might slip in ahead of Newport Catholic after last week.

There is a clear divide between the top and bottom half of the 2A top ten. It is hard to distinguish among the top and its hard to distinguish among the bottom as to where each should be ranked.

Walton Verona has not played anyone. Their schedule is way lite.

Played or beat?

They played two very good teams in KCD and LCA...

They have not beat any great teams.. their best win is East Jessamine

Going to be a dice roll when the regional finals are played baring any major upsets. Let the games begin!

I thought so, too. A close loss to S. Warren is better than most of this weeks wins. I think NCC is hanging on to there ranking simply because of 1 good week when they upset CAL, without there QB. Outside of that game the Breds have been pretty average, but, OB Cath. doesn't have any quality wins to hang there hats on, so, you can make a case either way.

Agreed

You also have to look that their blowout loss to Owensboro looks worse and worse as well.

Owensboro is 4-6 and considerably down by their standards.

Catholic beat Daviess who beat Apollo and Owensboro.

It's that time of year! Here's hoping for everyone to give it their best, no injuries, and may the best team win.

The most antipcated class IMO, should be a dandy of a playoffs. Many quality matchups.
