  1. 1A ... Beechwood vs. Paintsville 2A ... Mayfield vs. Danville 3A ... Elizabethtown vs. Corbin 4A ... Western vs. Ashland 5A ... Bowling Green vs. Covington Catholic 6A ... St. Xavier vs. Trinity
  2. Solid showing in defeat by the Scotties.. I could see them making it to the semi's in 2a with an outside shot of getting to the carpet.. E'Town's a very solid team..
  3. Paintsville makes a statement tonight.. I think they're definitely the team to beat in 1a, coming out of the east side of the bracket.. Hazard is likely the only other team that could keep them off the carpet this year.. Them and Beechwood would be a heck of a championship matchup..
  4. Mayfield's definitely a contender.. I can't say enough how sharp they were tonight. On the road, poor weather conditions and against a good defensive team.. They took control early and never let up.. Even the JV unit moved the ball well.. As far as Caldwell is concerned, I feel they're ranked about where they should be in there class, 6 to 7 range.. I think the Top 5 of Belfry, Boyle, Corbin, ETown and Central are all a couple of notches better.. I'd rank them as the best of rest along with Lex Catholic and Casey Co. right there, as well.. They simply made too many mistakes tonight when they had opportunities to stay in the game, but, outside of this lopsided loss, there overall resume is pretty solid..
  5. The Cardinals were very sharp offensively in this one, scoring on several long pass plays and also moving the chains on the ground.. The Tigers had several other scoring opportunities to keep it closer early in the game, but, got stopped on 4th down once, botched a couple of snaps on a couple of others and got picked on another.. Each time they were inside the Cards 30.. You can't shoot yourself in the foot like that against quality opponents.. I don't think they win even if they converted on each of those chances, because they had no answer for Mayfield's potent attack, especially thru the air.. Caldwell is a good defensive team, so, the 55 the Cards put up was especially impressive, especially with the wind and rain.. Didn't hear final stats on this one, but, I'm sure Mayfield had at least 500 total yards with over 300 thru the air.. Stinson and Guthrie both threw the ball well in this one.. Mayfield looks to be peeking at just the right time.. I look for Caldwell to make a good playoff run as well.. Good luck to both teams, going forward..
  6. Mayfield's JV unit adds another score on a Tony Parrott run to go up 55-14 with 2:11 left in game..
  7. Mayfield scores again on 5 yard Kyle Hurt run to extend the lead to 48-14 with just over 7 minutes left in the game.. The PAT was missed..
  8. End of 3rd qtr, still 42-14.. Mayfield has the ball at the Tiger 24 yard line with a 3rd and short coming up to start the final qtr..
  9. Caldwell moves the ball inside the 20, but, Mayfield's D steps up and gets a big 4th and 1 stop to take the ball over at there own 15..
  10. After a defensive stop by both teams the Tigers have the ball again in Cardinal territory at the 43, 1st and 10..
  11. Stinson hits Harrison for a 25 yard gain to midfield.. Then on the next play, Stinson hits again for a 50 yard TD strike... 2 plays and 75 yards and the Cards extend the lead to 42-14...
  12. A couple more negative plays makes it 4th and 35 so the Cards do force a punt.. 1st and 10 Mayfield at there own 25..
  13. Caldwell fumbles on next play but they recover it but lose 7 yards in the process..
  14. Caldwell recovers a Mayfield fumble on a pooch kick by Caldwell..
  15. Caldwell scores on its 1st possession of 2nd half on a 60 yard run by Jamere Riley... PAT is good... 11:09 to go in 3rd qtr, the Tigers cut lead to 35-14..
  16. 35-7 at the half Mayfield has 353 yards to Caldwell Co's 85 in 1st half..
  17. Stinson hits Harrison for a 59 yard TD pass on next play... PAT is good, so, the Cards answer the Tigers score to go back up by 28... 35-7 now..Still about 5 minutes left in 1st half..
  18. Cards pick up 4 on 1st down, add another 5 on 2nd down and then squeaks out 1 yard for the 1st down..
  19. 1st and 10 Mayfield at there own 31 yard line after ensuing kickoff..
  20. Correction on the score, apparently Mayfield was offsides on the PAT and on the 2nd try Caldwell makes it, so, it's 28-7 instead of 28-6..
  21. The Tigers pick up 4 on 1st down, then completes a pass for another 1st down inside the 3..Caldwell scores on next play, so, with 5:54 left in 2nd quarter, the Tigers cut the lead to 28-6 after a missed PAT..
  22. Caldwell picks up a couple of 1st downs and has it at the Cards 14 yard line.
  23. After a nice pickup by the Cards they get picked by Caldwell on next play, so, again, the Tigers will have great field position and another big opportunity.. If the Tigers want to get back in this game, they're going to have to take advantage of these type opportunities.. 1st and 10 at the Cardinal 41 yard line..
