Glasgow (8-3) blasted Covington Holy Cross, 64-0, in the 1st Round. NewCath quarterback Paul Kremer accounted for three touchdowns as the Thoroughbreds defeated Metcalfe County, 37-12. Newport Central Catholic (6-5) will now make the long road trip from Newport to Glasgow for what should be one of the state's most intriguing 2nd Round games.

I'm pulling for NCC on this because that will give my Juggs another home game.

No respect for the Scotties in the poll, so far.

Should be a close game. Long drive for the Breds. I think Glasgow wins a close one.

Homestanding Scotties backed up by the pipes and drums of the kilted Scottie Band take this one.

When was the last time a New Cath team lost in the Second Round?

Yes, lost to Bellevue 28-6. NCC had lost in the first round in 1997 and 1998. The Thoroughbreds have played in at least the regional final every year since then, winning eleven times. In fact, in each of the eleven years where they won the region they also won the semi-state. Newport Catholic is 14-2 all-time in the state semifinals, with the only losses coming to Middlesboro in 1965 and Somerset in 1983.

Scotties are big, fast, and strong, but have had some Jekyll and Hyde moments. This should be great game.

Two Jekyll & Hyde teams could make for a good game. Because NewCath has had the same issue. Hopefully a good game and everyone stays healthy

I’m really pulling for the Breds but I’m not very convinced they will win. They have been inconsistent to put it mildly and Glasgow has a solid football team. Glasgow is also a very long ride. Between everything, I think that Glasgow wins in a close one.
