100% agree. We went through this with my son. His dream was to play (another sport) in college. Injuries happened but he still got an “offer” from a smaller school. Well they had an unrealistic amount of kids already at that position and like most small schools half the kids has no real expectation of ever getting playing time. “Increasing enrollment through athletics” is what one AD told me. We had a discussion with my son “if you don’t play or decide to give up sports is this the college you want to be at. If the answer is no, move on to another school that is a better academic fit”.

It wasn't worded well. Not trying to tell any coach what to do. That was just the formula that won the All A and many games throughout the season. And while I'm a HC fan I have no dog in that fight just observation. Spreading the floor with multiple threats seemed to open up the paint a little more. They will need every tool they have to beat Ryle.

I think HC needs to go to their bench more. In the past few games they have really only played 7 with one of those being an 8th grader still gaining experience. Their three point sharp shooters in Bottom and McCoy played very little against Dixie or the district championship game against NDA. IMO they need to use the depth they have been using all year to keep everyone's legs fresh and up the intensity on defense. This game is hard to predict. It could go alot of ways. It should be a close one.

My guess is that they are still there from all A state. The girls and boys both had them.

The Indians shooting was just bad. They couldn’t get their offense going. Their free throw shooting was off. They got a lot of steals and deflections that led to transition plays but then couldn’t finish. Credit NDA’s defense for doing a good job and Sophia Gibson played really well hitting a bunch of free throws. I was surprised she didn’t make all tournament team. When she wasn’t one of the first two announced I thought she was getting MVP. On to regionals. good luck to both teams.

Any reason why the drawing is so late? I know this is the boys thread but the girls will find out their opponent basically 24 hours before their game and the boys aren't much better.

I tried relistening to the broadcast it just said technical on Ward, but I didn't hear an explanation.

What happened with the technical? It sounds like that was a turning point.

We just found out that Holmes will be forfeiting the game against Holy Cross.

The Indians were losing by a point or so at the beginning of the second quarter then went on an 11-0 run before the half. They were missing Nejai Lewis which hurt underneath not having the double threat. The Pioneers hit their free throws at the end to stay in it but the Indians were able to hold on despite not shooting well for the night. The Indians end the regular season 24-6

I think it was something like one for 12 or 13. I think Bottom only shot one or two Aleah Arlinghaus shot maybe two or three. They are our highest percentage shooters from the three that have actually shot a fair amount. I don’t know the exact stats, but Mercy did not shoot particularly well either Number 34 who normally shoots about 41% was well below her average, Macy missed five or six free throws and she is 84% on the year so that it is very uncommon. It was just a very physical game

She and McCoy did not play much maybe a few minutes. They are not hurt. I can only guess that Arlinghaus was going with a more defensive/aggressive lineup.

Shout out to senior Michael Weller the Indians manager. He has been the manager for four years and for senior night Coach Casey let him suit up and didn’t just play him for ten seconds in the beginning of the game for a ceremonial layup. He got to play about four minutes at the end of the game when the Indians had a significant lead. He got a basket and completed the plus one. When he scored everyone was so excited especially the bench. I love watching kids who do so much for the teams get recognized and get to take part in some of the fun having all his friends supporting them.

The Indians win easily on senior night. Lots of threes by senior Sarah Bottom. It was a great night to send off our four seniors, three of which have been playing for HC since the 7th grade. Next up Louisville Mercy in Monday.

I have no idea what part of that means. I need to stop using Siri on my phone. Yes region 4 who is in the bottom 4 of the regions has the most teams above the fifth team in the lowest region. Aside from Bowling Green at they basically have a cluster of teams in the middle. 13 teams between 41 and above 146. Only three really low teams.

It’s kind of interesting that while the ninth region has the most in the top 10 by far they aren’t the “deepest” region if you go by how many teams are above the lowest top five team. Region 13 who is down in the lower quartile reed RC of region rankings has 14 other 17 teams above the lowest top five team. I wonder why that is?

I was thinking the same as I was reading this thread. I do not follow hockey at all. I could probabaly name all the players I know on two hands, but I sure as heck know who Gretzky is and even chose to watch the ESPN special about his trade to the Kings because he of his noteriety. He made people who don't care about hockey actually watch from tie to time. I have no clue who the other guy is. I think Gretzky will always be the greatest at least to the general public.

Sam is the key IMO. Meyer will score 30+ basically whenever he wants. Ward can put up some numbers also. Dreas will lock down the defense and Smith will contribute. We need the big man to step up and do what we know he is capable of every night. He already is a deterent underneath but when he is playing aggressive, blocking and really battlng on the boards it is tough for teams to pick their poison. The Indians also need to stay out of their own way. Focus, keep their heads in the game and play smart and they can have a very successful post season.

From the previous thread, this was a really good game. The final score doesn’t give it justice. I wasn’t paying attention to how much Cooper subbed but HC had the second semi game giving them only a one game break and their bench consists of a freshman, 8th grader and 7 th grader along with a sophomore coming off a bad soccer injury in only her third week back still trying to build up her legs . I think of the Indians could have given them a better run for their money if they had a little more rest. Kudos to cooper. They hit the shots when they needed to in the second half to pull away. Having the best JV team and best varsity team just shows how deep they are and will be a force for the next several years.

Way to go Addie!! She also did well playing a ton in the JV semifinal.
