Girls Regional "Power+" Rankings

Featured Replies

? Derived from the latest Massey Ratings, sorted by Region.

"Power" - The point scores are totaled for the top 5 teams from each Region - teams most likely to advance to their respective semifinals.

"+" - Adds value to a Region's overall depth. [P+] denotes the number of teams from each, beyond their Top 5, that placed before the #5 team of the last place Region.

It’s kind of interesting that while the ninth region has the most in the top 10 by far they aren’t the “deepest” region if you go by how many teams are above the lowest top five  team.  Region 13 who is down in the lower quartile reed RC of region rankings has 14 other 17 teams above the lowest top five team.  I wonder why that is?

Regarding Region 9: There's also a measure of "Power" in its depth "+". The range of the second five ~ (22. Notre Dame, 46. Highlands, 64. New Cath, 82. St. Henry, 144. Lloyd) has three teams in the 1st quartile of the 271 teams Massey rated. The 9th's "reserves" would place #15 in this week's ranking.

Could you clarify the bracketed portion of your post? I think there's a good point in there, but I'm not sure what you are asking. Did you mean Region 4 - 13th place, rather than the Region 13 - 4th place? Trust me, I know the numbers can run together. I have to triple check them, and I operate the WOPR. ?

Region 4, right now, just has a solid grouping of high level midrange teams in their next 9 - #6, Metcalfe Co. to #139, Todd Co. Central. I'm thinking Round 1/semifinal District games there will be very competitive.

I have no idea what part of that means.  I need to stop using Siri on my phone.  Yes  region 4 who is in the bottom 4 of the regions has the most teams above the fifth team in the lowest region.  Aside from Bowling Green at they basically have a cluster of teams in the middle.  13 teams between 41 and above 146.  Only three really low teams.

You got it. Siri is scary. I don't even let a Roomba cross my threshold.

By the by, Tilghman, though the last "counter" at #146 is pretty much in the middle of the pack statewide.

Region 7 is also top-heavy, but their drop from their #6 team, 36. Male to #7, 138. Ballard Is the biggest gap in the state. They're the only two that are "pushers," raising the scores of other Regions.

Try clicking on the "PWR" column header on the Massey link to sort how big of a favorite Sacred Heart is at this time. You can also sort "Strength of Schedule," which I'm a big fan of.

Love the season Holy Cross is having.
