9th Region District Pairings / Match-Ups

So we know a lot, but we don't yet know everything.  The 33rd and 36th Brackets are locked in, and you can see the info below, the 34th and 35th are all but done, but not officially posted yet.

33rd District:  February 21st at Cooper High School, 6:00 PM has Boone County versus Cooper.    Then, one of the GREAT district semi-final / elimination games in the state this year, 7:45 PM at Cooper:  Ryle vs Conner (Ryle beat Conner 65-48 in Union on 1/20).  This will be a terrific game, to be sure, and I have to admit, with no rooting interest, it would be great to see Coach Gambrel and her team at NKU this year.  As I mentioned in another thread, looks like Meredith Snider will be back by then, so that can only help the Raiders.  Either way, that will be a TERRIFIC basketball game with season and career (in some cases) on the line those young ladies.  Winners will play on the 23rd at 7:00 PM at Cooper.

34th District:  nothing out yet in terms of dates / times / location, but Dixie will be the one seed and St. Henry the two seed, and those two are very likely to be the combatants in the Championship Game / 9th Region Tourney.

35th District:  nothing out officially yet, but we know that Holy Cross will be the 1 seed, Notre Dame will be the 2 seed, Beechwood will be the 3 seed, and Holmes the 4 seed.  Not a lot of drama about which two teams come out of the 35th, but that game (HC and NDA) will certainly not lack for passion and excitement.

36th District:  February 21st at 6:00 PM at Highlands, the Bluebirds will face either Bellevue or Dayton (they play at Highlands on 2/20).  Then, at 7:45 PM at Highlands, you'll have NewCath and Newport (NewCath beat them 57-20 earlier).  The winners, presumably Highlands and NewCath barring something VERY odd and unexpected, will play at Highlands February 23rd at 7:00.  Highlands beat NewCath earlier 64-37.

35th's Official Bracket with days and times are out (as are the 33rd and 36th I have in the original post):

Tuesday the 21st, at Notre Dame, Holy Cross plays Holmes in the first semi at 6:00.  The nightcap at Notre Dame will have NDA and Beechwood.

Thursday the 23rd, at 7:00 PM, the 35th finals will almost assuredly be Holy Cross and Notre Dame, and then both will advance to the 9th Region.

Gracias!!!  Excited for St. Henry to have a great chance to return to the 9th Region Tournament.  I think, although I'm not sure, this will be their first trip to NKU since Todd Smart has been at the helm -- and if so, congrats Coach!!!!

We just found out that Holmes will be forfeiting the game against Holy Cross.

Tough for those kids.

A lot of youth and if they stick it out and stick together they could be good in a couple of years.

Tough task of coaching with that amount of youth as well.
