I think this team will surprise some people, especially if they can gel early, which could be tough if football makes a deep playoff run. I don't think they'll get past CovCath, but I don't think they take a big step back.

If you're talking about where the program is, I agree NCC is still a few steps ahead. This season they'll have a good QB, but NCC lost a good chunk. HC brings a lot back and in the regular season almost had them beat. I don't know about blown out, but until they beat NCC they stay behind them

Will this season be defined by their record, or how they play against CCH and Highlands?

was told Cooper is going to Campbell Thursday morning and a couple other teams will be there, but don't know who.

From 2012 to 2015, Holy Cross had Simon Kenton, Scott, Campbell County, Cooper, Conner, and Oldham County on their schedule at some point. Against those teams, they went 0-12 and the closest game was against Scott last season 56-39. In those 4 seasons they went 12-34 and the furthest they got was the 2nd round. The schedule they have is tough enough to challenge them in most games. These guys need confidence and to stay healthy. Getting clubbed didn't prepare these guys like it prepared NCC. This schedule reminds me of the one they had their state championship season. They didn't play a bunch of cupcakes or super stars, but playing teams similar to their talent level, meaning their starters played into the 4th quarter a lot, and built stamina.

Covington Holy Cross 2014-15 State Champions Very athletic, tall, well coached, aggressive. That team was fun to watch.

I think Ryle is doing the big 7 and lineman challenge on July 14 Newport is doing a 7 on 7 on July 15 with Bellevue, Brossart and Holy Cross Campbell County usually does a couple, but don't know the dates

I think most are in agreement that they'll be the favorite in their district, so how do they stack up with the other half of the region (Raceland, Paintsville and Fairview)? Could this team make a deep run in the playoffs?

I was talking to a coach from John Carroll in Ohio, he said if they get at least 30 freshmen on the team, the school gives each coach a bonus and he said that's becoming the norm at a lot of D3 schools

Great hire for Conner, Otte is a great coach. Glad he's getting a good opportunity to become a head coach.

When you have all that talent on the field, egos will clash, things will get a bit chippy. Yeah, sometimes it gets a little out of hand, but some of that intensity is what makes the game great for these players. I don't think they should change much, but here are a few suggestions 1. No rush on the field goal/XP attempts: let the kickers shine too, which also means 2. No fake field goals/XPs: if they can't rush, neither can you 3. No empty offensive formations: must have an RB in the backfield 4. No DB blitzes: just linebackers

A lot of great points here, but something I always tell my guys, no matter how smart they are, is that college isn't for everyone. Sometimes, college won't fit in to your life until later down the path. A lot of young men and women will go to school and figure out if this is what they want to do now or later or never in that first year. Football coaches know that, and will try their best to help the guys they want to stay, but know that if their family can't afford it, or the guy just doesn't want to go to school anymore, then there's nothing else they can do.

Last year they played Bardstown Bethlehem between Beechwood & NCC. Did they back out for this year? Holy Cross would've been traveling there

I think it was 2003, Belfry came up to NKY to play Lloyd in the state semis. There was some snow on the ground, it was so cold i lost feeling in my feet and had trouble leaving the game. I've been to games where it was colder temperature wise, but that was one of the coldest games I've ever been to

The mud bowl, snow bowl, fog bowl, monsoon madness, crazy wind, way too hot... as much as I love the fall and early winter, not everyone loves the weather that comes with it, especially if your team has an awesome passing attack hampered by heavy rain. What is or are some of the best or worst nasty weather games you and your program have been a part of? Could be rain, snow, extreme heat, cold, fog, wind etc.
