"Bad Weather" Football Games

Featured Replies

The mud bowl, snow bowl, fog bowl, monsoon madness, crazy wind, way too hot... as much as I love the fall and early winter, not everyone loves the weather that comes with it, especially if your team has an awesome passing attack hampered by heavy rain.

What is or are some of the best or worst nasty weather games you and your program have been a part of? Could be rain, snow, extreme heat, cold, fog, wind etc.

Let's just hope the season doesn't start out like 2014. Lightning on Friday delayed many games to Saturday when extreme heat took control. A crazy weekend for sure.

Son's team played 2nd game of a bowl...kickoff didn't go until around 9:30. A hundred or so combined pass attempts, over 100 points scored and a couple of lightning delays later, I think we left the field around 3a.m. That's taking into account waiting for son afterwards to come out of fieldhouse after the game.

Frankfort vs. Trimble in the Flood Bowl.

Cant remember the year, but was before Trimble fixed the drainage issue. Several days of rain. The field had 2-3 inches of water on majority of the field. The visitor side from the hash mark to the sideline easily had 4 inches of water. Frankfort scored first on a bad punt snap. Later in the game Trimble scored and needed the extra point for the win. Snap was bad and after the ball squirted around for few seconds Trimble ran in for 2pt con.

At one point in the game the officials spotted the ball and it floated away.

I remember showing up to Trimble County one year when it hadn't rained for a week and there was three inches of water on the field. :lol2:

I think it was 2003, Belfry came up to NKY to play Lloyd in the state semis. There was some snow on the ground, it was so cold i lost feeling in my feet and had trouble leaving the game. I've been to games where it was colder temperature wise, but that was one of the coldest games I've ever been to

That was a cold night. The wind was whipping, it snowed sideways for a good bit and it was brutally cold. The only saving grace for me was @gametime saw to it that I found my way to the hospitality room and the white chicken chili at halftime. :D

I was travelling by myself that night and I had to stop in Lexington and spend the night on the way home because the interstate was snow covered and i assumed the Mountain Parkway would be worse.
