What does Nicholas County need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Dangerous team and should be very good...

Theres alot of chatter going on here and there about Nicholas County this year. Many think they could potentially be the spoiler that Paintsville was to Pikeville in '14. They should be solid and they are most definitely NOT the same NC that was essentially a door mat that when they were still in Raceland's district.

Anyone have details? What is going to cause them to make that big a step forward?

They have a pretty good offensive line. Two really strong linemen. Really came on strong at the end of last year.

This team loses 7 from 2015.

 

They return 3,209 yards of total offense and 43 touchdowns. They also return a team with 10 INTS and 10 Fumble recoveries. They will be looking at a new QB but are going to be a running team so just have to have an accurate QB to keep defenses honest...

They return there two leading rushers who put up over 2000 yards last season in Zach Richarson and Dalton Dailey. They return 4 of there 5 receivers with stats but lose the top stat kid who accounted for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns.. But the other four account for 6 touchdowns and 466 yards out of an passing game that put up 683 yards last season.

This Sr group has been solid from middle school on. It may be the best group as a whole the school has had. They will need to fill a couple of holes, especially at QB. They also are not going to sneak up on anyone like they did a couple of times last year but I do think they win their district and host a playoff game or two.

I like this team and I think they are a dark horse.. If they win the first game this season then I predict a 10-0 season if they beat Bethlehem and if not 9-1...

How does this team stack up against Paris? (I, admittedly, know little about what Paris returns)

Looking back through some records, Nicholas County has won six district championships (1976, 78, 81, 83, 99, 2000). The 2000 team was the only district winner to win a playoff game, beating Dayton before losing to Bellevue. The Blue Jackets also won playoff games in 2011 and 2012 and are 3-21 all-time in the postseason. Here's hoping Nicholas can add some more awards to the trophy case and a can win a couple playoff games for the first time! :thumb:

I think most are in agreement that they'll be the favorite in their district, so how do they stack up with the other half of the region (Raceland, Paintsville and Fairview)? Could this team make a deep run in the playoffs?
