Really the only "upset" I could see is p-burg over LCA. But i think its not a great match-up for LCA. If Dalton Frasure gets going its hard to stop him.

This system is fine. It doesnt make sense to put that kind of travel on teams. Or the schools even financially. There are many schools that struggle to try and come up with gas money for buses. If you're Phelps or Jenkins and you're doing your best to field a team you sure wouldn't want to fit the bill to drive to Russellville or Beechwood to have a running clock put on you in the first half.

I don't seem Raceland moving up anytime soon unless they're forced to by enrollment. 1A is a relatively small class anyways and will be losing a couple schools to consolidation in the next year or so anyways. The same as in any class the top of 1A can compete with just about anyone. Last year Pikeville beat 3A state champ belfry. The reality is that most teams in the state are week. In all classes there are maybe a handful of districts where every team is good. There are far more districts that every team is BAD.

I'm not sure if he's committed but last I heard he was leaning toward Western Kentucky.

Like I said 10.79 100 Meter dash, (in case you're not sure how fast that is its roughly 21 MPH) State Champ, Also ESPN has a reported 4.47 40 yard dash. Which isn't 4.29, but is absolutely smoking. Especially listed at 190lbs.

Either kid is a great choice for Mr. Football. I know many see Kash as a front runner right now but I think a lot of that has to do with his popularity because he's going to be a wildcat. There haven't been to many defensive Mr. Footballs, and I know he plays both ways but LB is what Kash is first. If Ashland can beat JC even if Baker doesnt run for 250 and 4 Td's I think he has a better shot at it because people love offense. Like I said either is a very good choice both are without a doubt two of the best to come through EKY in a while. Something I think is lost in the discussion is (correct me if I'm wrong) but EKY hasnt had a Mr. Football since Tim Couch. The fact that both of the consensus front runners this year speaks volumes for what these coaches and kids are doing.

Baker is the current 2A state champion in the 100 meter dash... 10.79...I'd say he has plenty enough speed and quickness to keep up with anyone.

I picked Paintsville in the poll but I do believe Raceland can win this one. For me this comes down to "can you block Kash Daniel?" which is much easier said than done. The Rams will also have to bring their best defensive efforts to keep this low scoring. If they allow the Tigers to put up big numbers I don't see the Ram offense being able to keep pace.

LCA hasn't beaten anyone good...Also shutting Corbin out, at Corbin is super impressive. Danvilles Defense is for real.

Depends on which Knox team shows up, they have been so inconsistent it's hard to say.

Pulaski is a well oiled machine right now. I think it could be close early but Pulaski pulls away late.

Usually the best TEAM wins, Johnson Central, but sometimes the team with the best player wins, Baker. This one is hard for me to call. There's is a lot of pressure on JC to not just win this game but to win a state championship because of the exodus of other perennial powers. I would really like to be at this one!

Questioning the job status of a coach that has his program respected statewide and talks of contending for a state title....is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

The messer kid was the type of kid that you just cant replace. My junior year of HS we had several joint track practices ( @ Russell) because neither school had a pole vault pit at the time, I think he was in the 8th grade and had never pole vaulted before so I was trying to teach him how some and I think after two day he was as good as me and was beating me by the next year. Just a phenomenal athlete.
