Nobody said he was going to be the state DPOY, I mentioned I thought he could be top 3 or at least top 5 in NKY. Just keep stirring the pot just because some one doesn't have NCC on their jersey doesn't mean you have to try and discredit them.

Definitely a good chance for that. I just hope Gallatin has a couple of players for a bench. I heard Gallatin they played on Saturday against Conner with only 10 boys. Wend went for 5 against them.

Correct. I didn't have a chance to catch the game but heard that #7 had a good game and that the HC defense had an OG and also gave up an open shot to #7 on a badly cleared ball right back to the middle of the field just outside the 18. I was also told that it was a pretty evenly played match but the 2 mentioned defensive errors is what made the difference in the score.

You won't know until the end of the year if your team was disrespected. I would also like to throw out there that there are a few of the coaches that are friends and hopefully when it comes time to vote, they vote for the deserving players appropriately and not just for each others players.

Or only scoring of off headers after 3 - 4 passes.

I'll say Beechwood in a close one. A bounce back game after the CCH loss last weekend but I wouldn't be surprised if HC pulls out a win.

#4 is a good defender but he plays midfield - not in the back 4 on defense. You might need to get your vision checked or ask that the players have larger numbers on their jerseys.

I agree with most of what you said but would add that the home field advantage can increase when the visiting team that you are playing has a different playing surface for their home field. grass vs. turf or for Cooper pasture vs turf/grass:lol2:

So, do the coaches from each team submit players to be considered for OPOY or DPOY? If so, do they say which midfielders are to be considered for offense or defense? I would also like to ask how much peoples opinions reflect seeing these kids playing club soccer. Remember, this is a high school soccer thread not a club soccer thread. So, what they do in club shouldn't be factored in here. It should just be based on what they do for their high school team. Not all of your top high school players actually play club soccer.

I haven't seen any mention of any kids from the smaller schools on here and maybe they aren't top 3 for OPOY or DPOY but there is a defensive player for Holy Cross that has to be in the top 5 if not the top 3. I will let you figure out who it is. Yellow Card should have the next opportunity to check them out and provide feedback. I've been told that this player made Wend a non factor against Conner and really limited Morgan against Scott - drew a yellow on him because of frustration. So, that's 2 of the top 4 OPOY's on this thread.

I do not know but he was not on the bench at the Scott/Holy Cross match Thursday night. Could it be that he received a suspension or worse for pulling his team off the field last weekend? Rumor has it that he resigned. Is that because of KHSAA pressure, AD pressure or personal reasons?

I caught part of this game and would say that it was fairly evenly played. What I didn't like about the game was that Scott appeared to only have 1 ball runner to cover the sidelines and he was very slow to get the ball back to players for throw ins and corners. This actually cost HC a corner kick before the half. CR blew the whistle while the HC player was standing at the corner for a ball. He had been there for a while waiting. You could see that both teams were frustrated with the whole ball runner thing. Yellow cards - all in the second half Scott 3 or 4? HC 1 or 2? It also appears that the inmates are running the asylum at Scott. And, I say that because kids who were sent off for yellow cards didn't even go to the bench, they went right back to the center for the next substitution.

1/3 to half the teams in the 9th region are never very strong so it is harder to get the traditionally better schools to schedule them with the exception of senior night so they can guarantee a win. That leaves these lower talented teams to play each other and sometimes multiple times in a season. I believe that most of them try to schedule most of the other teams in the 9th region but some of those better teams will not schedule them because it doesn't present a challenge.

I agree, it depends on the ref but should be a yellow. I would like to see the ref's start carding for the intentional delay of game by players kicking the ball away after a foul is called. You might let them get away with it once per team but should be carded after that for delay. From what I've witnessed, the CR calls the foul and then turns their back to the play then the ball gets kicked away by the guilty team. Should the AR's signal for the delay?

They allow it in basketball and softball. Wait, I forgot those are not considered contact sports.

Correct. If the defender comes forward to play the ball, I believe they will be given a yellow card if contact is within 10 yards from where the kick was taken.

Wow, that stinks for Holmes. I'm kind of surprised that Brockhoff wasn't on the field since he anchors their defense. Did he have a yellow earlier in the match? Beechwood will be a totally different team without Moses for the next 2 or 3 games. I guess the good news (if their is any with this) is that at least the missed games because of the red cards should not affect the outcome of the remaining district games. Was Moses' speed to much for Holmes?
