My apologies if I offended (parent/player) anyone but I just call it like I see it. I didn't not point out the player's number or look up his name on the teams roster on KHSAA. Maybe the coach is to blame for the tired players (I guess he doesn't have the same mentality as NCC's head coach on conditioning):lol2:. As I mentioned earlier, HC did not appear to sub much. Why as a coach do you have 20 kids on the bench for a varsity game if your not going to sub them in. Even if it's only for 5 - 10 minutes at a time, you would be able to give your starters a much needed break. Yes, there are 11 players per team on the field for a game but all it takes is for one of them to miss an assignment and then everyone else has to switch up to cover. That obviously didn't work out very well for HC.

HHS has been playing better lately however they will be without the services of the boy who received the red card against HC last night.

I think Holmes will beat Beechwood - just more options on offense as opposed to only #4 Moses for Beechwood. Holmes better have some body that is very quick to mark #4 or Beechwood could get their first win of the season.

You are correct - didn't realize the Beechwood /HC game earlier was part of the All A tourney. I think that we can agree that Cov Latin will be the 5 seed and that nobody wants the 4 seed. Even though HC won against Beechwood & Holmes earlier, I think that the games could be a coin toss as to who wins the next time around.

Since there are now 5 teams in this district, I believe that the loser of this game will probably be playing Cov Latin for the right to play Cov Cath at districts. The winner will probably play Holy Cross at districts. I know that Holmes beat Cov Latin earlier this year but that was in the Calvary tournament and not for district seeding. Latin still has to play both Beechwood and Holmes for district seeding. HC has already beaten these 3 teams so I believe they will be the second seed for districts. Holmes is the only team that has played Cov Cath in district and the other 3 do not have them scheduled. From a thread from last year, I believe that the coaches in this district concede the #1 seed to Cov Cath for the district.

I just happened to catch this game with my cousin who was in from out of town He's a Highlands grad. The first half seemed to be evenly played. HC missed what should have been an easy goal early (shot over the crossbar) and HHS had several shots in the first of which only one was a difficult save for the HC keeper. Tied 0-0 at half. No cards that I can remember. Second half HC looked tired and didn't appear to sub much. HHS appeared to have the fresher legs with more frequent substitutions. HHS probably had 80% of the possession in the second half, mostly in the HC defensive half of the field. I wouldn't say that this was all that rough of a game but after the CR handed out the straight red (I heard it was for a low blow), he started handing out yellows for common fouls. I think HHS received 2 yellows before HC received 2 yellows in the second half. You could see the kids that received them looking confused. One of the HC players had the ball and was pressured by 2 HHS players. He split the two and then appeared to get tripped. When he got up the CR issued him a yellow. For diving? It wasn't in the box, closer to midfield so who knows. All I can say is that HHS deserved the win with their play and energy level in the second half. BTW all 3 HHS goals came from the right side of the defense. 2 of them while a man down. Bad marking and lack of hustle by the outside mid attributed to the goals. As for the CR (tall thin guy, with dark hair - in his early/mid 50's), I don't know what his name was but he definitely had no place on the center of the field for a varsity game. Maybe he had seniority or something because this was a 3 game night (frosh, JV & V). I hope the HC player that went out in the second half with an apparent concussion is okay. He caught a cleat to the head after a clean slide tackle on the ball.

Nobody really. When you look at their schedule on the KHSAA website, their upcoming schedule looks fairly week. 4 games remaining with teams above 5 hundred (North Hardin, Conner and Holy Cross twice). HC's schedule has been weak and they beat Conner. So what does that really say about NCC's remaining schedule?

This has the makings for a really good one. Is SK legit? ND will be the toughest team they've faced.

District seeding/bragging rights on the line. The district seeding shouldn't really matter as both of these teams will make it to the region.

I've heard that there have been quite a few games this year that have only had 2 referees for N KY high school games. :poop: I know that from reading other threads, referee numbers have been on the decline for the past couple of years. :down: Since it doesn't appear that there will be an over abundance of referees going forward, what can be done? If I remember correct, a few years back, it seemed like the boys would play on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the girls would play on Mondays and Wednesdays. This helped with the ref pool not being strained as much. Now it seems that you have both boys and girls teams playing on any given night which has to be an absolute nightmare for ref scheduling. Is this something that maybe the coaches need to work with the ref scheduler about?

I missed all of the games - got called back into work and then when I left work, I came out to flat tire. Maybe next week I can catch some games.

With the heat and the turf at Ryle, it's a good thing they have lights. They will probably want to delay the start of the game just so that excellent conditioning of NCC isn't that much of a factor:puke:

Thanks, YC. I don't know how I missed that one. I would really like to see how BB handles Moses with Beechwood. Then maybe I can catch one of the later games. It will have to be one that starts @ 7:30 or 8 o'clock because of the drive from Pendery.

I agree. Have only seen them play one game and they did work well together. One thing that did surprise me was how much they slide to play the ball. I was always taught that sliding was a desperation play. Granted, it does have it's place at times. It also helps that they have some speed back there along with a kid that wins everything in the air.

NCC better be well conditioned. It's hot on that turf and very fast.

Did Highlands have many students in attendance? And if so, where they as loud as when you play them at Tower Park?

So does WV have a reputation of playing really physical or dirty?

I heard that HC actually beat WV in PKs but that they did not count the PKs. The tourney was supposed to be two pools of 4 teams where each team in the pool played each other. Then 2 of the 8 teams dropped out and the Calvary folks had to scramble how to play the tournament without updating there tie breaker rules. With pool play, all teams would play the same teams so PKs wouldn't be needed at the end of a game. But, if you're not all playing the same teams, you probably should not allow games to end in a tie thus PKs should have been counted. But, what do I know.

Is that due to the way they play (ex.packing it in) or just good defenders. I have not seen any mention of specific players and don't believe that they had any players recognized by the coaches at the end of last year.
