oldgrappler
Boone's defensive woes continue. Injured defenders out and personnel playing in unfamiliar spots lead to Highlands getting through and scoring early in the match. Defensive changes made and no more scoring though Highland's offense kept the pressure on. Highlands controlled the ball and the play was on Boone's end of the field most of the time. Boone couldn't put passes together and had few opportunities to score. Benjamin has been earning his keep in the goal for Boone. Many nice saves tonight. Refs did a nice job tonight. Sir!
Boone County stayed stuck in even after going down 2-0. Both sides competed hard, but stayed in control and showed very good sportsmanship. That was nice to see. Nick Brock and Joel Shutt both worked their butts off for Boone. BC is missing 1 or 2 higher end players that they've had in the past several years to connect things offensively. Hard to see them scoring a lot of goals even when they are playing well. I'd expect to see their defending tighten up as the season progresses. Highlands gets their first win in 2015 in the 6th game of the season. That's 4 games earlier than last year. Colton Wagoner still out on injury, but with Brady Gesenhuse now playing in a back four for Highlands, the defense is tighter and harder to break down. Goals by Ethan Mills and Ben Schweitzer. Mills has now scored in each of the last three games and is coming into his own in midfield.
oldgrappler
Nice post, Sir! Thanks for mentioning those two senior players on Boone. Brock is really good in the middle. His name has not been mentioned in the top ten list but he is a high end mid fielder. He is always under control, protects the ball, and does a nice job distributing to open players. I think Shutt surprises a lot of opponents because even if they get a step on him (or one of the other defenders) he will recover to disrupt their line to the goal or get a foot on the ball. He gets to a lot of balls that opponents think will go unchallenged. I think the rest of your analysis of Boone is pretty accurate. They need to find more ways to take shots on goal. BTW, I was taking money at the gate last night and must say the Highlands fans were very friendly as they came into the stadium. Congratulations to Highlands for putting together a complete game last night and lots of luck to the Birds going forward.
The Hamburglar
Did Highlands have many students in attendance? And if so, where they as loud as when you play them at Tower Park?

Never offsides
Refs did a nice job tonight. I just wanted to point this out... At least they have one good mark in the books this year!!!
Sir!
Hear that is happening on the girls side at HHS as well, what gives? No sure gate is down at girls games. Might be a few missing who are watching from shadows outside the fence or doing periodic drive-bys in their car. Maybe it just looks like numbers are down from your vantage point? Edited September 3, 2015 by Sir! To clarify that I am just jesting and know of no person who watches from outside the fence or drives by to check the program. Jack of all Trades
Did they typically have a big student section travel to away games in the past? I was told by someone that not even a lot of parents go to the games, thus the reason for the question.

Purely going on what I am being told. Hearing about it on both the girls and boys side. Probably away games I guess. Plenty of people watch from outside the fence as they have always done because they are too cheap to pay to get in. Me on the other hand will not support the program in its current state. I could really care less, but my kid still has an interest in supporting classmates.
