I'm going with Ryle in this one 3-0 or maybe 3-1.

CCH first score was between 20 -25 seconds into the match and then I think again around the 6 minute mark. Bad marking by the HC midfield allowing players to run free through the middle. 3- 0 halftime score and CC didn't really sub much in the first half until about a minute left before half. HC did have I believe 2 decent opportunities to score in the first half. The CC keeper laid out to push the first shot just wide of the post and the second shot was just high & wide right. No other significant attempts if any after that. The HC coach did switch their best defender to striker after the second goal just to have some sped up top but HC was able to play many balls forward with accuracy to allow for scoring chances. The second half CC did sub more frequently. Day & Litzler still had significant playing time in the second half. The last goal by CC came with less than a minute left in the game and the HC coach had already switched out a significant amount of his starters in order to get some final field time for some seniors who normally do not play during crunch time.

I just hope they have a good officiating crew for this one. I didn't see last years game but recall seeing posts on here that HC had 6 or 7 yellow cards to Cov Cath's 1. So, hopefully this is a clean game with no injuries for either team.

I don't see HC having much if any offense in this game because their mids will be concerned with playing defense and never transition quick enough to offense to create any threats. I think HC's defense has been pretty solid this year with the exception of the Cooper game but Cov Cath brings a totally different team to the field than anyone HC has played this year. I don't care how good HC's defense is because if their mids do not keep pressure on the ball and mark others players closely, Cov Cath will have plenty of opportunities to score. The D can only do so much so they need help out of the mid. I expect a minimum 4 or 5 goal difference in this one.

From what I was told, this sounds like the same shot he had against HC that went off the post and ended up getting him an assist. I haven't seen Ryle play this year so how would you compare Roe with HC's best defender? Does Ryle have more experience in their back line? I believe HC is playing 1 senior, 1 junior & 2 sophomores back there so I don't believe they have as much experience as some of the better claimed defenses in N KY.

Agreed. I could get as ugly as the 10 - 0 loss Cov Cath just put on Holmes if HC doesn't keep pressure om the ball in the midfield. HC has a tendency to sag off in the midfield by a good 10 - 15 feet.

Does BC have Ryle's number this year? They beat them just a week and a half ago.

I was also surprised by this since they were without the services of Randle and he will also be out the first game of the region because of the red card he picked up in the last game of the year against HC. Could the first round of regions be a third match with HC? HC appears to have their number this year.

NCC & Highlands only have 2 boys teams in their district so both qualify for region. St Henry only has 3 in their district and since they were the #1 seed, they also automatically will qualify for region. HC beat Beechwood in the 35th district semis tonight and will most likely play Cov Cath on Friday. Since HC has made it to the district finals, they are now qualified for the region.

Hopefully nothing serious with the injuries and they will be back in time for district and regional play.

I agree. It just depends on which St Henry team shows up to play. There are a couple of 9th region teams that could challenge CCH but that has it's own thread.

I was just throwing that out there because there are some CCH supporters who have no problem with tooting the horn of CCH players and trying to discredit other teams players for a bad game. I haven't seen either one of you (GP or GPR) do that but others have. Now, all of a sudden their silent.

It's a pretty sad state when you see players sitting in the stands and parents or coaches ball running.

So, neither were on frame and the free kick was from distance. Was there a wall of defenders that the shots deflected off? And, if so how far out from goal was the wall? Just asking because why wasn't the keeper able to stop the ball from going in? Could have a negative impact on his consideration for one of the top 3 DPOY. If there wasn't a wall and the deflections were off one or more of the prestigious CCH defenders that are having their names mentioned for DPOY, what does that say about them? I just bring this up because in another thread, there is mention of how many times a defender is able to win the ball in the air for consideration of DPOY. Or, better yet does any of this need to be taken into consideration for DPOY as you you watch through your blue tinted CCH player glasses? :banana:

Didn't get to see any of the above except for the pro goals replayed on TV but I did get to see a pretty good goal at a girls game. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know this is a boys soccer thread but anyhow here it is. HC girls varsity vs Conner. Young lady for HC bends a corner kick back post about 4 feet deep in the side net. I know that this was probably a miss hit (should have been in the box for her team mates to play) but it was still pretty impressive. Some parents in the stands were saying she was just a freshmen to boot. No pun intended.

I would not expect Beechwood to beat HC this year. HC has several of their players back that were out from injury mid season and just recently beat Beechwood 6 or 7 - 0. On a side note, I would not be surprised to see Holmes or Beechwood advance to the regionals as early as next year since HC will be losing 5 or 6 key players to graduation after this year.

Speaking of Clyde, did he make it to the Conner/CCH match last night?

I ranted about this a couple of weeks ago in a Scott thread - 1 ball runner for the whole field.

Only after the game because it would slow me down and my hands would probably be greasy = less accurate toss to the players.
