Conner scores on two CCH own goals.....headers off of restarts.

 

First time CCH gives up more than one in a game and they score both.....

 

Very small field tonight......one yard wider on each side than the football lines, and approx 5-8 yards shorter than the end zones........

OTB... You could always refer to this field as "Cooper North" or "Boone Co West".

Not sure why the dimensions are what they are......width perhaps could be squeezed a yard more on each side, but the length is what puzzled me......why leave 10 to 18 yards off? Maybe it was like that 2 years ago when we were there last, but I don't remember it.....

Pretty sure it's always been like that and I think districts are there this year.

For the most part, the Colonels showed good effort in this game, especially in the second half. The own goals were bad luck really, both coming off free kicks and skipping off the head of CCH players. Despite 5 goals, it's still a bit of a struggle offensively for CCH in putting away chances. I also thought it took too long to adapt tactically to the narrow field as they tried to posses way too much instead of much quicker attacks. All in all, a solid effort on a difficult field.

I thought the same thing. Smallest soccer field that I have ever seen.

 

Kudos to the Cougars for putting up 2 on NKY's best. :thumb: (Even if they got an "assist" from the Colonels. :lol2:)

Maintenance got a good deal on a tape measure at the flea market.

Conner missing 3 starters tonight plus 2 injured 1st half. Would be interesting to see outcome of game if all their starters present. We keep harping on field size, would Conner not be able to host games if their field was not regulation size? I was at the game, not sure Conner's first goal a direct kick was an "own" goal. Hard to tell.

^i think in the big boy leagues if the ball was on frame when it is misplayed or deflected into the net you credit the attacking player who played it on frame as the goal scorer... If it is not on frame when misplayed/deflected by a defender then it's an OG.

 

Alternatively you can credit OGs to the closest leading scorer on the field (he said kiddingly).

Neither were on frame......both were headed backwards from some distance into the goal.....

 

Hopefully both players were not injured too badly.....looks like the same player (possible cramps) from the first half, left with cramps in the second half, but up to that point, I hadn't noticed him having much impact on the game....

 

CCH's starting outside defender went out extremely early in the second half and did not return, so the what if's are on both sides........didn't know Cougars were that short handed......perhaps would have increased their shots on goal for the game to be over 5.......

So, neither were on frame and the free kick was from distance. Was there a wall of defenders that the shots deflected off? And, if so how far out from goal was the wall? Just asking because why wasn't the keeper able to stop the ball from going in? Could have a negative impact on his consideration for one of the top 3 DPOY.

 

If there wasn't a wall and the deflections were off one or more of the prestigious CCH defenders that are having their names mentioned for DPOY, what does that say about them? I just bring this up because in another thread, there is mention of how many times a defender is able to win the ball in the air for consideration of DPOY.

 

Or, better yet does any of this need to be taken into consideration for DPOY as you you watch through your blue tinted CCH player glasses? :banana:

I can't believe that none of the CCH faithful have responded to my questions/comments in thread #11. I guess they have moved on from this game since they played against Summit Country Day tonight.
