I thought maybe this would work a little better rather than having people list the best players from each school. Not to put ANY players down in anyway and I think it is perfectly okay to mention players that don't get much credit, but I would like this thread to be the best of the best. The top 3 players in all of NKY in each category offensive and defensive. Not top the best from each team, not players you think don't get credit, not the top 10, when listing a player understand this thread is about the very elite amongst all of NKY. Please just list your top 3 and any positive comments, as for my top 3 I don't think I need to list any reasons because I think they have all been voiced. ( THIS IS JUST ONE PERSONS OPINION ) in no way do I want to put any players down.

3. Day ( CCH )

Defensive

1. Wessels ( CCH )

2. Enzweiler ( HC )

3. Seay ( Scott )

After giving this some thought here is what I came down to. Others to mention include Wend, Litzler, Romes, Roe, Gesenhues and many more. This is just IMHO..... I could easily make arguments for other players in those spots but after giving it thought this is my conclusion on top 3 in each category Not an easy thing to do and I'm not complaining about that either.

Also think a GKOY should be added. Lumping the goal keepers in with defenders muddies the waters. Give the keepers (and defenders) their due, no harm in adding another category.

I agree with this statement, but unfortunatly when they do the official voting it isn't separated like that.

It was already being discussed in another thread, so I just thought it would be easier to make a separate thread about it.

The other thread is NKY top players, and OPOY and DPOY are state wide, so this is a good place to have that discussion and maybe keep both threads a little "cleaner"

NKY also recognizes an OPOY and DPOY. This discussion thus far looks like it's focused on NKY.

So, do the coaches from each team submit players to be considered for OPOY or DPOY? If so, do they say which midfielders are to be considered for offense or defense?

 

I would also like to ask how much peoples opinions reflect seeing these kids playing club soccer. Remember, this is a high school soccer thread not a club soccer thread. So, what they do in club shouldn't be factored in here. It should just be based on what they do for their high school team. Not all of your top high school players actually play club soccer.

Coaches submit the players they want to be considered for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Team as well as OPOY and DPOY, coach of the year, etc at the same time. There is no distinction of whether they are considered an attacking mid or defensive mid, the coach decides which category to enter them in. The coaches from NKY then vote and that determines who wins the award.
