One question from it.....It mentioned that the formula uses win/lost and home field......

 

....that makes sense with some of my questions from earlier posts.....ie..CCH plays most of their games (2/3) ast home this year.....just worked out that way......so if they had the same results at away games, they may have moved up a little faster.....(not questioning where they are, just an observation.)

 

.....another observation.....if the post season is rarely played at a teams home field, do you see the accuracy going down when the post season/ regional play starts?

Home field is overrated in many instances. If Dixie plays at Simon Kenton.........is it really different than if Simon Kenton had come to Dixie to play? Of course not.......and that's the case with most games.

 

I would say that if a team is travelling a substantial distance to play, that is a factor at that point.

I agree with most of what you said but would add that the home field advantage can increase when the visiting team that you are playing has a different playing surface for their home field.

Good point, the difference in playing surface... and don't forget the field size... is probably the biggest factor.

 

As for the pitch at Cooper, I would classify it as the visiting team has an even larger disadvantage, this is not a field that benefits either team. So far this season, I would say that I have seen at least 8-10 good scoring chances that were taken away by the condition of the field.

Since OTB left just one important thing out of his post, the actual rankings, here they are. Bowling Green retakes the top spot after Trinity played two weaker teams this week. Dunbar drops to 10th after losing to Lexington Catholic. Ryle moves into the top 20 after tying Cov Cath. Madison Central makes a jump to #11 after beating West Jessamine, Cooper, Boyle County, and Woodford County this week. Any thoughts? What would your top 5-10 be?
