Were there many underclassmen that started last year? from top of my head scott - ohmer, dunlao cooper mcneil, hendrix (kunkel - partial) SK - did cottrell start Dixie - Meyer Covcath - vonhandorf Connor - Hemmerich any others. each of these guys will have excellent years and could be on any list. Some are shooters, some basketball players and some athletes. Will be interesting to see them develop.

Both players great offensively. If energy was spent on defense they may be good defensively.

You could make the list of best player for each team in the 9th as this list is about to morph. Everyone is beginning to rep their school. some of the list above is the best player, then best scorer, then best shooter. Analyzing the above, very few, do it all.

My take. Cooper and Connor - depends on who else connor has other than hemmerick and scott. Dixie and SH - This may be a toss up. Does dixie has any bigs to help meyer? Who does SH have to help Goetz? Covcath and Holmes. Holmes is more of a question mark than many on here want to admit. Their second best player is gone. This is the year HC may sneak up on them. if HC is hot they can beat anyone in the 9th. Newport NCC - If holmes transfer is eligible and newport can make everyone happy instead of most of the offense going thru their shooter this will be a very dangerous team. They could be a darkhorse to win the 9th. Caveat - chemistry means alot.

This thread seems more of an "axe to grind" than anything. Several current 9th region coaches 1) took the job or 2) remain at the job to coach their kids. You are giving them a free pass.

Sounds like Holy Cross is the winner to me. These type things happen more than we think. Parent wants the child in the best position for success. Are you saying this is about the parent and not the kid? Again, happens everyday. This case just happens to be with a high profile parent.

i think it is clear that the bottom five maybe six may be interchangeable. Biggest questions for bottom 5 to move up are: 1)who can help Adam Goetz at SH 2)can Hunter Myer and Ian Brolley from Dixie step up and dominate games. i think Myer started approx 20 games for dixie last year and brolley transferred from holmes. 3) Can connor develop and inside presence. 4) Ryle will play hard. 5) Can Holy Cross play defense when they are not hitting? the Schrand boys and Bezold can shoot.

Covcath by 4 Tds. Dixie will need a load of skilled players to be successful next year. It appears that all the young players are in the trenches.

I am assuming Holmes in at #2 or #4 (less mullins) is more about a weak ninth rather than a strong holmes.

Great addition for newport. 6 -8 very aggressive for him. He wont be the best basketball player or the best athlete on that team. But, i agree with you. Newport will be hard to beat.

i do not think kids are any lazier than they ever were. i do believe less kids are playing football because of the risk of concussion (parents perception as well). I bet similar studies would show an increase in baseball (several years ago on the decline) and basketball. However, it is tough to measure since baseball and basketball teams "tryout" and football does not.

Does anyone know is Barrett is back for Dixie. Dixie may not have enough horses but Barrett definitely helps the cause.

Both teams are not very good especially by recent standards. Is Dixie's running back Barrett back yet?

Scott may be a team that can beat almost anyone and can lose to almost anyone. They will rely heavily on the 3 point shot.

Glad to see Dixie has a freshman team. It had been rumored that they may not. Good news for the program.

Is Cameron Barrett playing in this game?

Scott can no longer play newport? really? Newport is down this year due to situations out of the kids or the admin control. Could that statement have been made last year? Scott's program is on the right track however that is a very bold statement to make. I hope ludlow, who beat newport like a drum last week as well, did not make the same claim.

Most schools have middle school programs. What is the correlation? turkeyfoot normally put 40 - 60 kids in uniform.

Does anyone inside the program have any insight? For a school of Dixie's size this should never happen.

is Racke now healthy?

I will go with Dixie in this one. Everyone keeps saying how young Dixie is. Are they really that young or just inexperienced? I have heard they may start 3 Sophomore on the offensive lineman so that makes the offensive line young. Can someone shed light on this?
