Newport Adds Transfer

Featured Replies

Former Holmes G Marcus Mullins is now at Newport.

No clue if he will be eligible or not (family did make a move from Covington to Newport), but adding him to what Newport returns definitely puts them in the conversation as one of the most talented teams in the 9th region.

Mullins averaged 10 ppg, 4 rpg last year as a junior for Holmes and is likely somewhere in the 6-8 range when the preseason player rankings coming out for the 9th.

If they moved from A to B then the paperwork really is just a formality at this point.

Bona fied change of address.

Not necessarily. Circumstances surrounding the transfer can be brought into question

Often but not always.

When did he enroll at Newport? Was it at the beginning of the school year or just recently? I know it doesn't matter for the eligibility part, just curious.

Which is why I said "no clue if he will be eligible or not..."

I won't go in to detail, but knowing Marcus personally, I'm hoping everything works out for him.

I understand all of that guys, just stating the baseline facts. Was an AD for nearly 7 years in Kentucky.

Plenty can come of a transfer even with a bonafied change of address; tampering, not moving with custodial guardian, & the list goes on & on. I've seen and heard it all before, but I never had a transfer get denied with a Bonafied change of address during my time over an athletic department.

I did rule kids ineligible on my end for grades after they were ruled "eligible" by the KHSAA & were ineligible by our SBDM standard.

I want to say it was September 24th that he officially enrolled at Newport...

Great addition for newport. 6 -8 very aggressive for him. He wont be the best basketball player or the best athlete on that team. But, i agree with you. Newport will be hard to beat.

If he is eligible then Newport is going to be tough to be beat.

Newports backcourt will be nice if he's eligible.

Tough loss for Holmes.

What besides Snapp down Newport return? Price was a Senior correct, as was Joesph?

Walter, I can't remember which kid he is. Throw up some video if you have it.
