Final

Running clock in the 1st quarter. The new turf at Newport looks great.

Scott can no longer play Newport. They have progressed the point where this is not good for either team.

We were talking about that at the game. Scott has come a long way in a few years.. This was a competitive game for Scott a few years ago. I see them dropping this and Holy Cross. I would love to see them add Beechwood or Cov Cath or maybe some more 4a out of district teams.

Agree!

Shout out to the young men from Newport who continue to show up and strap it on despite odds being way against them.

Life lessons learned.

Agreed, but its more a reflection of Newport IMO, they just dont have the athletes they used to to make games like this a good game for both teams.

Scott can no longer play newport? really? Newport is down this year due to situations out of the kids or the admin control. Could that statement have been made last year? Scott's program is on the right track however that is a very bold statement to make. I hope ludlow, who beat newport like a drum last week as well, did not make the same claim.

Agree again! They were left hung out to dry by the poor decisions of the previous coach and have to suffer the consequences of the poor hiring of the new coach. Feel really bad for this Sr class.

Great job Eagles!!!

Scott is 5-0 and has outscored Newport 203-26 in the last 5 meetings.

So are you blaming the loss of this game and the Ludlow game on the new coach?? That's a ridiculous claim. The New coach was hired and had to clean up the mess left from the poor decisions and life coaches the previous head coach made. The administrators hired the best candidate there was and he has an awesome resume as a football coach. I admire and give kudos to the football players that show up game after game for Newport despite their losses.

A coach who changes everything these kids have learned about football with less than 1 month until the start of the season is a poor hire. A great coach can adapt to his talent.

It is not the New coaches fault that the administration waited so late to hire him. Maybe the new coach has his own offense and defense and didn't want to keep the previous coach's plays, game plan, etc. If you want to blame someone, start with the administration, not someone who came here to help this team and these kids.
