Shout out to the young men from Newport who continue to show up and strap it on despite odds being way against them.

Agree! This is all abour our kids, whether we lose or win. Since I'm an eagle parent, I am happy to see Scott won, but shout out to all the Newport players as well - playing in this heat and they didn't give up.

Can anyone give us details of this game? Did Pleasant play for Scott? Who played QB for Newport, I heard they were making a change going into this game. How and when did Newport score?

Pleasant did not play, or even dress. Scott did whatever they wanted on offense. Couple long passes, long runs, a punt return by Perrin. It was 55-6 at halftime, 42-6 at the end of the first. Newport's only score came on a kickoff return. #2 (according to the roster, Tyler Porter) played QB for Newport. Apparently, he's a freshman. Hard to see how good he was, because he just got pummeled by Scott. Newport did zero on offense, and just didn't do anything well. They were not running the triple option, mostly running out of the I formation.

Scott can no longer play newport? really? Newport is down this year due to situations out of the kids or the admin control. Could that statement have been made last year? Scott's program is on the right track however that is a very bold statement to make. I hope ludlow, who beat newport like a drum last week as well, did not make the same claim.

 

I believe that person made the comment based on today's game...like the game needs to be over. I don't think they meant anything negative towards Newport or their players. I could be wrong, but that's how I interpreted the message.

As far as Scott can't play Newport anymore... When did Scott become such a 4a powerhouse that there are teams they can no longer play. Newport is down and Scott is UP. Newport should be removing Scott not the other way around

What about NewCath?

A coach who changes everything these kids have learned about football with less than 1 month until the start of the season is a poor hire. A great coach can adapt to his talent.

 

That is the most rediculous thing I have heard today.

 

Hats off to those kids who could have written off the season but are continuing to work hard to make the best out of a difficult situation. There is a lot of talent in that group and it will take all of this season to become make use of thier strengths.

 

I for one am behind this coach who walked into the worst possible situation and making the best of. Congrats on Scott's win, but my hats off to the Newport players and coaches. Keep working hard and the wins will come!!!
