  1. And I'm certainly not taking the comments from Coach J as an insult. I know he has a great deal of respect for the T program. Just tired of hearing this isn't the most talented team all the way back in the preseason. Not sure what people want with wins over Ensworth and Brentwood - blowout of a Lafayette team with 4-5 Division 1 players, ANOTHER win over St X etc... Just hope the kids get the recognition they deserve when post season honors are announced like all district - in a district Trinity won by outscoring opponents 219-7.
  2. A group of kids from Trinity that "weren't the most talented" according to many people last year brought home State Championship #23. It will be a great day when the kids start getting the credit they deserve. Add 9 more wins to the school total, the 35th District Championship and #1 seed in a playoff bracket. First district championship since 2012. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we are blessed with the best damn coaching staff in the state and one of the best in the country. But we have as many "talented" players as anyone in this city or state and if you choose not to give them credit then shame on you (whoever you might be). Part of being an exceptional player is buying into what the coaches are teaching, commitment in the weightroom, in the classroom and out in the community (don't get me started on community service hours). This group of Rocks is just as talented as any we've seen over the past three seasons.
  3. Anyone care to take a stab at Male, X and Manual in the event Manual pulled off the upset tomorrow night? Would be a 3 way tie.
  4. Steve Guillaume (X) has a couple of monsters coming up through the St Edward program right now.
  5. Yes sir...Comstock's son is QB at Manual. Dad was also a member of state championship Fairdale bball teams. Chad O'Shea (x) is the WR coach for New England Patriots. I still keep in touch or often run into a bunch of guys on this list.
  6. What game? Are you talking about the East vs West Jefferson County game? The attachment is a list of all district selections in 1990 - not the roster for the Senior All Star game. Plenty of underclassmen listed all over from each district. But, no matter how you dice it, that is a solid list of players from Jefferson County. Stoney Mack from Jeffersontown was one of my favorites to watch back then (all district both ways in a tough district loaded with talent) - along with the 50 game win streak bunch from Trinity (special group).
  7. Wakefield not in the discussion. Spent some time on sideline with injury and not enough reps due to blow out victories. If anyone from Male was in the discussion, need to consider the QB Shelton.
  8. Only 2 pages and 1 comment today. Why is everyone so quiet? Why so serious (in my best Joker voice)? Celebrating the 100th X/H game tonight!! Nice article by Frakes. Redman out hunting and Glaser dropping off video. Funny stuff!!
  9. Not bad for a former WR/DB!!! Even better, just like Ryan Young last year, Jake is pretty impressive in the classroom. He received the T/X pregame academic excellence award. Nice addition to the trophy case.
  10. In addition to the #1 seed and sending Male to the other side of the bracket with Trinity, we ARE talking about the 13th Ranked team in the Country (Male). I can only imagine a win by St X would mean so much to the Tiger faithful. I'm still sticking to my previous thought and feel like Male will win by 3 or more TD's. The Bulldogs are worthy of the 13 ranking in the US. But like I said before, I was impressed with the grit X displayed in the T game and you never know what will happen in a game like this. I hope for a competitive game!
  11. Last year, Male was the #1 with home field advantage. In the event X can pull off the upset tomorrow, X will most likely get the #1 with home field - and send Male/T to the opposite side (advantage St X). Although it might seem to be the same path to most, in my opinion it isn't even close. A win by the Tigers tomorrow would send Male to Trinity in the 2nd round. And in the event Male won that game, the Bulldogs would travel back to X for Regional Final. A lot on the line for both teams tomorrow. In my opinion, it would be by far the biggest win of the Wolford Era.
  12. And he would most likely secure a #1 spot in the playoff bracket on the opposite side of T and Male. That by itself would be the best thing that happened to X in many years in my opinion.
  13. I'm under the impression the Cards were young last year and have majority of the starting lineup back. Same thing for Trinity. Big portion of the starting line up back from our team that beat Colerain last year. I would love to see the tiebreaker between T and Colerain more than anything. Male would match up with any of the teams on that list. And I wouldn't bet against them.
  14. I love it that part of the conversation is turning into a WKU vs Marshall battle. Pretty awesome that we have 2 teams in and next door to the state playing at such a high level. Not to mention the kids from our state going to play for both schools. Turning into a Hatfield - McCoy rivalry. You have to love it!! Hope for many years of success for both schools. Would love to see one or the other own CUSA every single year.
  15. Big picture, 7 total teams from the state of OH and KY. Pretty impressive - doesn't that fall right into the Stoops recruiting game plan? In this area (Louisville), outside of Wakefield (Male) and Burns (Trinity) could it be possible some of the teams and coaches are missing really solid opportunities? Male is loaded with talent and Trinity is right in the mix. Where is EKU and Murray State...how about Cincinnati, IU and Purdue? If anything, is anyone watching the formula for success at WKU? Coach Brohm is snagging an amazing crop of kids and we can only hope he will choose to stay at WKU. He really seems to get it. If EKU and Murray ever have any aspiration of doing something in football (now), why are they missing the boat on so many in state prospects? Congrats to Male and Trinity. Hope both teams can hang around the National Rankings and we get a big rematch. I know we all agree it is good for the state. Not only do we have Nationally Ranked teams...we have a great group of Nationally Ranked players (Kash, Landon, Drake, etc, etc)...just can't help to believe we have much more to offer. Guess we will see the finished product in Feb when we compile the list of kids going to play in college.
  16. Didn't see this one posted from over the weekend. Couldn't make the game so no details. Noticed the score on school website this afternoon. Freshman Rocks are now 6-1 with wins over Highlands, Brentwood TN, PRP, Butler, X and DeSales. Lost to Male 20-12 Remaining games against Ballard and Moeller.
  17. Agree with Purple and Ham Bone. Male will score somewhere in between 30 - 40 and X will be in the neighborhood of 10 -17 points. I just don't see the potential for an upset. This Male group is in another league...playing on another level. I would like to see Ridder on a dry field with a dry ball. Can't help to see flashes of Colin Kaepernick in his game. Lot of similarities.
  18. Pick your poison...right? You want the #1 or #2 team in the state in the 2nd round? Don't want to go in that direction on this beautiful Friday but the bracket is HORRIBLE. Best of luck to the Tigers and Crimsons tonight. Can't wait to see the outcome. Will be more fun to watch over the next few weeks when both teams play Male. Man, I miss the Super District.
  19. Thanks! Best of luck to the young man. Hope he can eventually find his way on the field.
  20. Best of luck to both teams tonight. Looking forward to the updates. Hope for another classic battle. Looking forward to the Frosh game tomorrow against the Rocks. Had the pleasure of coaching guys on both teams. Can't wait to see them in action. Have fun tonight Colt and CAL fans! Enjoy!!
  21. The Davis Mattingly kid from Male isn't too shabby. Walk on Freshman. Plenty of talent on the roster at QB with a lot more coming. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis work his way up the depth chart over the next 4 years. He was the best looking pro style passer I've seen around Louisville in the past decade. Regardless, congrats to Walker and his family. Many more to come - keep up the great work. Enjoyed watching him against the Rocks.
  22. I know, Champ! Kind of stinks but I guess we can only hope that Coach Beatty will take a page out of the J -Town game. Again, Beatty and the JT coaches did a great job of getting us in and out of the game quickly. It looked like an honest effort to keep the score down and keep kids safe. If we can make the Seneca game happen, pretty sure we can expect the same. I gather Male did the same thing by pulling starters in the 1st quarter. Just hope the Seniors can enjoy one final regular season game and be recognized on the field with Mom/Dad. That to me is the most important part. Get the JV and 3rd string guys on the field ASAP.
  23. Thanks Pete. Other schools in the area need to pay extra special attention to what is going on at Fern Creek. The school and community have gone through as much adversity as anyone in recent history. You just can't say enough about the way the Administration, Teachers, Coaches and Students/Players have rebounded this past year - on and off the field. Especially all you folks that have been entrenched in all things Fern Creek your whole life. Way to go - glad to have you back and love the fact the kids are playing at a high level in football. Keep it rolling Tigers.
  24. I wouldn't call it a separate roster as many of them dress on Friday nights. Majority simply don't get the reps they need to stay in the 2 deep or 3 deep rotation (although more than capable of making significant contributions). It really is a strong JV group this year. I'll admit that most of them have seen significant time/minutes in the JTOWN, Lafayette, PRP, Brentwood games. Lot of varsity action on top of the undefeated JV games!! Good stuff in my book.
