eatsleepdrinkfootbal Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Love to hear the public's opinions on this one.
BTI Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 If it's dry, its a game! If it's wet not at all. X is one of the best when dry, water is their kryptonite.

Chuckle, I was thinking exactly the same thing when I saw the thread title. If St. X is going to win I would think it has to be on the defense. Their offense is not as good as Male's, but if they can contain Male's attack and make it a low scoring game then they have a decent chance. Still, tough test for the tigers. Those Bulldogs mean business, and I know they won't overlook a foe like St. X.
Oldercoach Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Have felt C. Wolfe is one of the best defensive coaches in the state. 26 points in 7 games certainly is an eye catcher! Match this defensive juggernaut with the skill talent they have on their offensive side and it will be very hard for any Ky. team to outplay them. Only externals (weather, injury, sickness, cockiness, etc.) can lead to Male not running the table. Believe Wolfe has all the controllables under control. IMO
LongTimeReader Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Everything being equal, it will be very hard for Tigers to stay within striking distance for 48 minutes. There are two aspects that can allow the Tigers to pull the upset and win the district; first QB play. If Ridder can perform like has in X's big wins this year it will keep Male's offense on the sideline and limit short fields for Male's offense as well. Secondly is TEAM defense for the Tigers. They don't have a super star that can take over a game from the defensive side, but if they can get the 11 guys on defense to play as one, they give themselves a chance.

IMO its been male's to lose the past few seasons and lose they have when it counted. It should be an interesting game. The loser should get Trinity in the 2nd round of the playoffs......There is a lot at stake here when you are talking Playoff opponents. Manual or Trinity to the loser
Riverside 157 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Well this is a BIG game to say the least! St. X needs to play a very inspired, focused and opprotunisitic game. IF ( yes I know thats a big word ) X can prepare well, through in some wrinkles, have a very good game from the coaching perspective, X CAN win this game! With the game at X, the Tigers should use this to their advantage!!! Seven weeks of film and scouting should be enough to put together a game plan to get the W. Even in a close game, X should hold the cards! Yes I know Male has been the team all season. We are talking one game folks!!!! I'm taking the Tigers 24 - 21.
Ham Bone Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 The JV and Freshman games will go a long way for St. X's confidence. If X can win one or both of these games they should feel good about their chances scheme wise. Could be a trap game for the Bulldogs. Off a bye and arch-rival Manual next week might have Male looking ahead... Seriously doubt that, but we are talking about kids. X has a dangerous offense with so many formation variations, but dominated by the run game. The Tigers are going to have to at least try to pass or it will get ugly fast. In the end I think the Bulldog defense continues its streak of stellar play. I see H moving the ball through the air quite a bit on the X secondary. Line play is always huge in a match up like this between two big-time programs. H - 48 X - 10
Purple88 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 The X QB is the key to this game I think. He played flawlessly against BG and Manual and garnered BIG wins. Against T, wet ball caused him problems and not really sure what happened at Central. Also the X D must keep things in front of them. They didn't give up any big plays in those big games and it stabilized them. Ultimately, I think its Male's to lose. Their lines are huge with always great skill guys and have been impressed with their QB. How can you not be impressed with their D. H - 31 X - 17
Old-School-Football Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Agree with Purple and Ham Bone. Male will score somewhere in between 30 - 40 and X will be in the neighborhood of 10 -17 points. I just don't see the potential for an upset. This Male group is in another league...playing on another level. I would like to see Ridder on a dry field with a dry ball. Can't help to see flashes of Colin Kaepernick in his game. Lot of similarities.

Guest Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Male's not looking ahead. Next Up ! Coach Wolfe not gonna allow that to happen.
Ham Bone Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 How many passing attempts would X have to have in order to "try to pass"? At least 15-20 passing attempts. If X comes out and runs right, runs left, runs up the middle it will play into Male's favor. They will go man to man on the outsides and bring major pressure. X is going to have to stretch the field or it will be a long night.

It's not the attempts that matter, it's the completion percentage that will tell the story. High percentage means X has a chance, low percentage, it will be a long night.
