Dang I took two weeks off, I didn't realize there was an overall standing.. looks like ill go vote this week and see if I cant regain some status.

I am going with Holmes on this one. It seems the Tigers aren't the same team since their loss to Brossart. Not sure if the injury bug got to them or if they just need to refocus and get a confidence back but I believe this is Homecoming for the Tigers so if there was a game to get it going again this would be it.

I see it as 1.Highlands 2.Cov Cath 3. Grant 4. Dixie But none of these teams have been impressive yet this year. But its still early and there is a lot of football left to play. And definitely a lot of district play left. Its anyone's game.

See now im confused.. 8 votes to 0 votes that Brossart will win but in the 1A undefeated thread 8 people have Brossart being defeated this week. Oh well. Mustangs should be able to continue their roll. Keep it up!

Any word on if this game got going or what the score is if so?

They never have. This is both the first time they have beaten bellevue and first time they have gone 3-0

I will say this much. It seems so far that District 5 will be a bit more competitive than expected. Bracken County played well against Ludow, Brossart is 2-0 to start the season, Berea seems to be put together well, Nicholas County put a smack on Pendleton, and Paris is clearly off to a good start. I thought that district would be a little more lopsided but its seeming like its anyones game.

Both teams enter this game at 2-0, both beating a common opponent by comparable margins.. who come out the victor and why?

1. I do know what it takes as I have a background in biomechanics and anatomy. 2. If you read my comment I clearly state I think its important to have Trainers there, I just express that there is much left to the opinion of the Trainers and that there are SOME things that can be played through and SOME that cannot. Having a trainer that is familiar with Football and the pains that come with the sport and things that someone can play through without the detriment of further injury is important.

While I completely think it's important to have Athletic Trainers on site, I think its also equally to have a Trainer that understands football and the difference between being hurt and being injured. Sometimes I see trainers hold kids out for things that are playable. Football is a contact sport and players are going to play with bumps and bruises. Most Trainers are good about this but there are a few that would rather play Momma bear and hold kids out for minor things.

Newport is fairly down this year. A lot of sophomore and freshman. They also have a new head coach and are running the triple option. Ludlow though it sounds like has some good numbers this year and if they gained more athletes from last year should be a competitive team this year.

This game should be an interesting. After Brossart comes away strong with a win against Dayton they should have some confidence coming into this game. The difference here is that the speed that carried Brossart to a win will be met with the Speedy team from across the River. Aiken is said to have a much larger team this year, but with them learning a new offense and this being their first game of the season will they be prepared enough to take on a team that looked rather solid this past Friday? Only time will tell but I think Brossart comes away with this one as long as they continue to spread the ball around and don't give up big plays on defense to a rather electric QB for the Falcons.

After Ludlows routing of Newport its hard to imagine that Bracken comes away with a W. But with many of their younger players finally becoming upperclassman they may finally have enough leadership on the team to battle at the very least. Hopefully its competitive, Bracken should have some confidence coming into this game after their win against Switzerland which could atleast carry some momentum to make it a fun game.

I would say this comes down to the run game. Both teams can air it out, but Ryle struggled in the run game this past week. Lex Cath seems to be a little better at spreading the ball throughout the field and that includes up the middle. I see Lex Cath taking this one by a small lead because of Ryles lack of an established run.

Who do you think will win this week 0 matchup and why?

Scrimmages are a good test to see how well the team fundamentals are. Most teams go with their basic plays and packages. And may stick with the ones but as a better "performer" I would say if your team can perform the fundamentals and little things correctly you will win the scrimmage. Which is all the coaches are hoping for. At this point in the season all of these things should be ingrained in the players heads. On a rare occasion there may still be position battles that now with live competition can help push one player over another.

Was at the Ryle 7v7 last saturday and saw a few players from Brossart working pretty hard. A couple stood out but of them Jake Martin seemed to stand out more. Check out film on this kid. Sophomore Year - Jake Martin highlights

I agree. I asked because I was hearing word that QB depended on which offense they would run. Bellevue will likely be a run heavy team, though they will be a large underclassman filled team. The Dayton- Bellevue rivalry should remain a great one this season.

Something to keep in mind with 7v7s is that many team use them to look at position battles as well as extra practice at putting together a passing game. Most coaching staffs don't put much emphasis on winning the tourneys more so just getting solid reps against competition. People care way too much about who wins 7v7s. Don't. Just pay attention to your teams development and how competitive they are as a whole team. Cause some 2s and 3s may be playing against another teams 1s just for reps. Don't over think all this people. Don't worry real football is just around the corner.

Who did bellevue have at QB? I know they graduated a large class including top WR, RB, and their QB.

Teams that are rumored to be coming are Lex Cath, Bourbon Cty, Grant County, Woodford cty, Brossart and Owen Cty.

Spoke to a D-1 head of recruiting recently.. his exact words to me were "If you feel like spending money on hotels and the registration fees for combines feel free to. Just keep in mind that College coaches and recruiters are NOT allowed to attend these and though we may get the "results" we take it with a grain of salt. Each combine uses a different method of timing 40's and such. Its funny they will be timed at 4.5 at the combine but when they show up to our camp, they can't seem to break 4.7. So sure you can try to get stars at combines but those stars don't mean anything to us unless we see you ourselves. And that means at our camps or film you send us. " So keep this in mind parents who are spending lots on combines each year.. College recruiters dont value them. They are more for the "scouting sites" and hype.
