  1. I'm a little confused here...how would moving games to Beechwood do anything to alleviate heat index since it's turf as well??
  2. One good team in a region does not make the region good, and both Campbell and Scott benefited from great draws.
  3. One of the weakest regions in the state the last few years.
  4. Understand there is a difference between in-game pop times and showcase/workout pop times. Anything in game 2.0-2.1 is flat getting it done.
  5. And they still plan on playing the 2 semifinal games after this one is over. Gonna be a late night at the ol' ball yard.
  6. I said SINCE 2009, so the post I saw missed the 2014 win over St. Henry.
  7. This is correct. It's not like JB doesn't care about winning regular season games, but he sees the bigger picture, which is making sure his team is prepared to use everyone on the roster to their advantage come tournament time. I saw a shocking statistic the other day regarding Cov Cath. Since 2009 they have advanced to the 2nd round of the Regional tournament only twice. Those two wins came against Bellevue and Newport. That's shocking.
  8. 1000 percent agree with this. Pretty good chance St. X and PRP stay 1 and 2 in the state polls through the end of the season, and if both get through their regions, they will play in the first round. Same thing happened last year with Trinity and McCracken County. I'd like to know how many other states use a blind draw to seed any post season tournament. It's come to the point of being ridiculous.
  9. PRP - Schmeltz LHP Louisville, Glass RHP WKU St. X - Nicholson 1B Cincinnati, Scheler C Cincinnati, SS Sweeney Eastern Illinois. X has no arms committed to D1 schools though Nicholson does pitch but UC recruited him as a position player.
  10. The Birds lack of offense against above average to good pitching is definitely a concern.
  11. Baioni understands that the regular season is nothing more than preparing your team to win in the post season. That's why he plays a brutal schedule and plays a ton of players, which he did in this game. Other coaches play to win regular season games. Baioni could care less about that.
  12. Yes, in my opinion it's beyond time. Kids hate playing for him in addition to the other things mentioned.
  13. Glad to see Cooper getting some preseason love from PBR. They haven't had a lot of recent success but with a new coach and those arms they have, they should be a top 25 team in the state.
  14. 157 players are Preseason All State? Good lord, that's brutal.
  15. I would have to think Muhlenberg would be the favorite to repeat with a lot of their roster back. A buddy of mine who lives in Owensboro has a nephew on the Owensboro team, and he says they have a lot of young talent who got a lot of time at the varsity level last year. He expects them to be very good.
  16. The ONLY offer that comes in writing and is official is the day the kid signs his National Letter of Intent. For most players who have committed D1, that comes during the early signing period in November of their senior year. Until then it is a verbal offer/commitment that is not binding to either side. The junior year has nothing to do with a written/official offer. However, Sept. 1 of a player's junior year is when D1 coaches are able to begin contacting kids directly. Until then, the kid has to call the coach (coach can't call him back if he misses the call) or the coach has to go through a 3rd party to set anything up with the kid (unoffical visit, etc). Maybe that is what you are thinking about.
  17. I think you may be confused. D1's can make official offers to kids before their junior year. Now what is true is that most of those offers are contingent upon a kid having a certain gpa and/or act score. Of course nothing is official until the kid signs his letter of intent his senior year and either side can opt out of the offer until then.
  18. The only contenders will be Highlands, Cooper, CovCath, and Beechwood.
  19. Rom as well as a few other KY players will be participating in the PBR Super 60 Sunday in Chicago. Super 6
  20. A little birdie on the wall said he told his players, "I'm tired of dealing with your parents." No idea if that's true or not.
  21. Tuition kids vs non tuition kids...if that is actually how some parents look at things it wouldn't surprise me in the least. All the kids that go to Beechwood are Beechwood students regardless. If little Johnny isn't good enough to beat the tuition student out on his HS team then guess what, little Johnny needs to get better or he'll sit. That mentality is why kids are soft, lazy, and think they are entitled to something.
  22. It's baseball and anything can happen, but SK will need to play a flawless game while PRP has an off day for them to have a chance to win this game.
  23. Freaky? There are a ton of all turf fields at the college level and that number continues to grow.
  24. Completely agree with this. 30-35 game season and only 4 games really mean anything? That's mind boggling.
  25. Labrum tears are very difficult to diagnose because of how deep it sits in the shoulder joint. Most require a dye injected MRI to diagnose, and even then it is still difficult. Did your daughter get a regular MRI or a dye injected one? In either case, I would definitely err on the side of caution with going the surgery route for a 16-17 year old. Just my two cents, but if it were my child, I think I would choose the more conservative route from a very well respected doctor such as Dr. Kremcheck.
