No one is going to just give you money, you have to go get it. You can have a team sponsored little league, host summer camps, having preseason scrimmages...etc...Work Work Work. You will be surprised what a girls team can earn in one season. The only thing that can hold you back, is whether the athletic dept. will allow you to do so, and will they take "your" money due to what ever reasons. I seen the latter, and its not pretty.

Looking at Graves schedule, they are playing their best ball now. They redeemed their losses by winning their region with wins over Murray and Paducah Tilghman.

I guess we will find out how good Boley is against HC.

My son played on a All A State Championship soccer team a couple years ago. Great experience, fun times, but weeks later played St X in sub sectional and lost 4-2. Can a co-ed school compete with a all boys school? We have 100 boys in school, they have 600 boys, so chances are slim. So our little All A championship trophy means one thing, and that is, we can compete on a level playing field. Same in basketball, these teams who win, have a chance to see how they compete against schools the same size. Some of these teams even make it to the bigger stage and do quite well, in all sports. You can split all the hairs you want, it was meant to do one thing and one thing only, and it is a success. According to a few posters on here, using the same logic, the team who wins the 2A football championship really didn't accomplish anything. The ones who get a chance to play in the All A understand what it's about, the ones who don't, well, are the ones who start threads asking why its revelant.

Strange things has happened during the Sweet 16, thats why you have to play it. HC will try to keep the game in the 40's and slow the game down to a snails pace. If they shoot a high percentage and control tempo, who knows. What I do know, Mercer had a horrible game plan. Maybe shooting 3's is their thing, but thats not going to work on this stage.

If Btown means Bardstown, you are correct. They been playing football in 2A for years and playing basketball in 1A. Pathetic I think, but finally was made to move out of 1A.

I would say Mercer leads the tourney field in 3 point attempts. The question is, can they hit a high enough percentage against the 1-3-1 zone they will have to face. Mercer hasn't shot them well this past month, maybe they are due.

I agree, seems common on this site to talk about "whats coming", as I been reading threads on this site for a few years without commenting. It rarely works out the way you think it will, but makes for a thread filler.

Goodin played 1/2 a game due to foul trouble, hence the reason Btown hung around. It's sad that Taylor has to be "mouthy" the whole game, as it is a trait they had all year.

I did some research too, Milby's 4 wins all came with Epps Goodin-Rogers teams. Milby lost before they got there, and after they left, so that 7-4 record is skewed a little. Face it, Milby showed up at Marion with Taccara Hayes who was from Caverna and knew what was in the pipeline. Once the well ran dry, he left town as fast as he came in. 1 championship team with all that talent was a bust, and one can't deny that. I'll take Mudd all day long over any Milby coached team, and so would 99% of the world. Nice try though.......

Yep, the ones you see in the regions are the best of the best. If you don't believe me, ask one, they will tell you how great they are.

Marion County 2 years ago was the best I ever seen, hands down. This team is good no doubt. I thought last night, they didn't use their size in the half court. I KNOW this will be emphasized Monday at practice, as Nelson had no one over 5'10 that could stop them. How about the play of the guard for Nelson, what a performance! She put the team on her quite small frame and IMO, was player of the game. Lastly, a shout out to Coach Woods, look at that team he put on floor, and no one thought they would be in the finals, what a great job he did with all those soccer kids. My all time favorite Etown/Nelson game was down at Hart Co with a Samantha Drake led team losing in the final seconds to a undermanned Etown team.

The infamous over and back call against Etown/Iroquois Sweet 16 final was made by a 9th region official. No one call ever decides a game, but SHE was horrible all night on both sides of the ball. I agree with Panda, and the format used in regions is asinine.

The flaw in this is, why have a 7 and 9pm game on Sat night? Move the times up where the last team playing doesn't finish after 11pm. If your looking for rest, try a 1pm and 4pm semis, so both teams get rest, not the one who plays at 7. Ask Etown girls how well that worked last year.

Bardstown isn't the same teams as in the past. They have no height and struggled with Bethlehem their last 2 meetings. With that said, they have defenders who will shut down guys such as Faulkner. If Caverna has guys to step up, maybe they pull this off, I don't see it though.

If they do that, they are in the finals........

The 5th region has made some noise in the Sweet 16 since 2008. What a run on Ms Basketball winners too, Epps, Brown and soon to be Boley, 3-4 years isn't shabby.

dg21, you have some good points. When I made my post, I made it after looking at Holmes schedule and their opponents wins and losses. I think some get confused when they see a glossy shiny record and assume that is a good team. I'm not one who does that, as I look at quality wins or close losses and where the win or loss came(home/away). Of the teams you mentioned, only Shelby Co has one quality win, being Male. Any poll you look at, there is a large gap between 1-25, Im talking 25+ points, so I don't put much stock in being a Top 25 team. Good luck in your post season endeavors!
