Miss Basketball finalist (Alexis Brewer at Bardstown). State Champ Etown, and likely next year's Miss Basketball in Erin Boley.

 

The 5th is always strong, but the last few years and continuing through next, they have taken the cake.

 

Micah Jones at Green (now at WKU)

Epps and Goodin-Rogers (now at UK)

Ivy Brown from LaRue Co, Miss Basketball (now at WKU)

Alexis Brewer at Bardstown, Finalist this year.

Erin Boley at Etown along with the 4 other D1 commits on their team.

The 5th region has made some noise in the Sweet 16 since 2008. What a run on Ms Basketball winners too, Epps, Brown and soon to be Boley, 3-4 years isn't shabby.

I would have to agree with all the above.

 

When I think of 5th region, obviously I think of Etown, as everyone does right now. However, I can't help but notice that the records of four other teams in that region is pretty stinkin' good. Wow!

I've had the good fortune to watch a lot of really talented players during my time in the 5th Region. Some other dandies I've seen:

 

Taccara Hayes — Tenn. Tech

Cierra Drake — EKU

Samantha Drake — UK

Natalie Greenwell — Morehead

Alex Jones — EKU

Daziah Kimberland — Campbellsville

Sarah Beth Gillis — Lindsey Wilson

 

And many more whose names are escaping me right now.

I think the other schools mostly are considered afterthoughts because of the long shadow cast by the Panthers, who are heads and tails above everybody else in this region. But the others have all stepped outside of their regions and competed well.
