  1. Tavion has always had a strong surrounding cast with the exception of the start of his junior year when Dunbar had several players out for various reasons. He still did his thing but they did not win many games and it was much more difficult for him to get his shots. As I stated in another thread it will be different for him this year unless/until his teammates can produce and make teams pay for double teaming, etc. Tavion will still be the best player on the floor most nights but he will just have to work a little harder to get his.
  2. Sayre is overlooked and underrated. Sayre will be a top 10 team in the 11th and could end up higher than that. As for Jake Duby being a sleeper....the only one sleeping on him is the author of this article. Leading scorer in the 11th region and the best shooter in the 11th. Scores from every where on the floor. Gets face guarded, boxed, chased and/or doubled teamed most games and still manages to shoot 51+% from the field and 41+% from 3 pt range while getting 7.5+ rebounds. No other player in the 11th faces this night in and night out.
  3. Guess I see Dunbar a little different than most. I believe they will struggle some. I see it more like 2014/15 season before they got players back. Everyone seems to be missing the fact that they have only 1 player, albeit a very good player, with much varsity experience. They may have several seniors back but they don't have much varsity experience for a reason. Last year Hollingsworth didn't have to deal much with being double teamed, boxed, face guarded, etc. due to the strong players around him. I think he will find it a bit tougher this year without any of his starting teamates from last year. I am sure he will still get his and probably average 25-30 but not sure where the other production will come from yet.
  4. Some of this dialogue is a good reminder of how little some folks know about the things they speak of. Though I do suspect they actually believe what they are saying because they say it so matter of factly.
  5. .....and their usually right. By the way, turning 15 summer before your freshman year can go either way. I have a July birthday and turned 14 the summer before my freshman year and same for two of my kids. That being said, l really don't care either way. To each his own.
  6. Does anyone know if the two transfers were cleared to play? I believe one was from Woodford and one from East Jessamine.
  7. I would expect better defense from a top 10 ranked team. BS is by no means an offensive juggernaut and they racked up huge yardage. I was there and it was a close game and definitely in doubt until Station had some untimely turnovers deep in there own end. Both defense's looked undisciplined and lacked fundamentals. Maybe Lafayette was missing some players or had an off night but if not they have a lot to fix on the defensive side of the ball.
  8. Imo 1-2 of the players mentioned will not go high major. They are not big enough to be "bigs" and not good enough shooters and/or athletic enough to be guards. Not to mention their ceiling is lower because of their age. We are seeing more and more of this early hype and then tailing off as things even out maturity wise when they get to be a junior and senior.
  9. Having seen film of HC and having watched TC play I thought, and said to friends that TC should beat them and that it was possible it would be a blowout. HC came into the game over confident and unprepared. They made mental errors, looked confused, did not seem to understand the weaknesses of TC, much less have any plan to exploit them. In the past HC has been able to out athlete there opponents but this year TC had the upper hand. The TC receivers made big plays and even when well covered and double covered, Jackson Beerman just went up and took the ball away from the HC defenders. As for TC, Belfry was a terrible match up for them. Add to that the delays and 4 hour bus ride and it was a recipe for a smack down. Not saying that they could have beaten or even been close to Belfry but the circumstances certainly didn't help. That beat down seemed to refocus TC. The next week they came back and got an overtime win after being down by 14 and the starting QB replaced by the freshman. That win changed their outlook on the whole season and seemed to give them confidence going into the HC game. This is a fairly young TC team and they are getting better each week. The reality is, they are probalbly not as bad as the Belfry game but not as good as the HC game would indicate. In my opinion, HC had better get it figured out quickly or it's going to be a really rough year and if TC can keep getting better each week they can end up with a very solid season and have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
  10. Not that it really matters but Duby's 1st snap in the game, which also happened to be his first varsity snap, was the 80 yard TD pass play to Beerman. Duby is a 14 year old freshman. He did play the rest of the game. Also, contrary to what has been said, TC did sub in the 2nd half, not everyone, but they did sub.
  11. It was my first trip there last night and it was a great experience. Though I would like to have seen TC make it a more competitive game I have to say it was worth the long trip from Lexington. The facilities are excellent, the fans and people from Belfry were humble and gracious and the football team is disciplined, model great sportsmanship and are just plain scary good. Awesome job by everyone involved.
  12. For what it's worth, TC did replace their starting QB with a freshman (a true freshman...meaning 14 years old) at the end of the first quarter. His first varsity snap was the 80 yd TD to Beerman.
  13. Having seen both teams play, I would have to say the Rebels are in trouble. Lafayette makes plenty of mistakes and plays very undisciplined but they have so much talent to make up for it. I just can't see this game being close, but I hope i am wrong.
  14. Per your opinion/requirements then there are zero D-1 players in Kentucky.
  15. Last season was 2015/16 not 2014/15. No big deal. Congratulations to the kid.
  16. It is Chris McNeil that averages higher from 3 pt range than 2 pt not Sean.
  17. So you think that he would average more in D3 than he does in high school?
  18. Didn't the leading scorer for East transfer to LCA, or did I just make that up?
  19. Athletic but shoots a low percentage, poor shot selection and too many turnovers imo. Lots of potential though. It will be interesting to see how much he can improve over the next couple years.
  20. I doubt that Lex Cath would want to be on a nationally televised game any time in the near future given the current situation there.
  21. Jake Duby not a top 60 in 2017 class? 6'3" SG, 24.1 ppg, 51.8 fg%, 41.4% 3pt fg%, 82.8 ft%, 7.2 rpg. Draws opponents best defenders and is boxed, face guarded and chased all over the floor night in and night out. I know it's not all about stats and I am not knocking anyone on the list, but how many on that list have those numbers?
