  1. A little early but, what are some of the better AAU Teams/Organizations in the state?
  2. Not being argumentative either. Just friendly debate and just my opinion. I have seen all of the teams in this tournament play multiple times this year and in previous years. I am also up to date on their respective stats. That being said, I would list them in the following order: 1. Matt Rose - LCA 2. Drew Trimble - LCA 3. Quinn Pergande - Sayre 4. Jake Duby - Sayre 5. John Stein - LCA 6. Malik Frank - Frankfort 7. Kyle Rode - LCA 8. Tre King - LCA 9. Jalen Washington - Frankfort 10A. Alex Chen - Model 10B. Ephraim Otieno - Model 10C. Anthony Robinson - Frankfort
  3. Good preview, you had me until I got to the top ten players. What is the rating based on?Eye test, hype, potential, stats?
  4. It's a joke and an embarrassment that this is becoming the norm. Sure it is within the letter of the rules but definitely not the spirit of the rules. Used to be if there wasn't a legitimate reason (academic or social) for holding a kid back you couldn't do it. It's not the kids fault but it's on the parents. What message is this sending to the kids? Guess I am naive and old fashioned for thinking High School was about otaining an education.
  5. I have seen Woodford and Scott Co and really thought Woodford would give them a game and could possibly win it if they got a few breaks. Woodford is a very well coached good TEAM that plays hard nosed basketball.
  6. Why do you care? Riverside has a team and the kids want to play. Most teams play their bench only against them. The Riverside kids play hard and deserve the opportunity to play.
  7. Apparently Lafayette plays well at home and not so good on the road. If this trend holds true they are are in for a tough stretch of games.
  8. I have been through the process with KHSAA with 2 kids. I found it to be cumbersome but fair. If you are 100% up front and are changing for legitimate reasons, in my opinion it works out the way it should. Not implying in any way that the young man that is the topic of this thread did not have a legit reason or wasn't honest, etc. as I don't know anything about his situation.
  9. Don't know about "could not have won" but I do agree that Morgan was a better team. Sayre is very young and should get better the next couple of years. Gonna be a really tough stretch for the next couple weeks for them.
  10. 2 pt game at end of 1st quarter. Duby and Pergande go to bench half way thru the 2nd with foul trouble and the lead expanded to 13. Not saying that Sayre would have won the game but it's really hard to compete from the bench. Wonder how Morgan Co. would do with their two best players on the bench?
  11. Lets not kid ourselves about the ACT scores or any reference to academics. The reason the majority are held back is because of sports. Say that out loud, I think we should hold little Johnny back so he can maybe be better at sports than the kids in his grade. Yeah thats a good idea, good for his self esteem to dominate younger kids, etc. In my opinion, if the child does not need to be held back for social or academic reasons then it's not the right thing to do and should not be allowed. I don't blame the kids though, it's entirely on the parents and school systems that allow it. Again, just my thoughts and opinion.
  12. For Sayre, Duby played less than 2 quarters and Pergande played just a bit more than 2 quarters. Foul trouble and Duby turned an ankle in the 3rd and never came back in. It's tough for any team to compete without there 2 primary scoring options but for Sayre with their lack of depth it's almost impossible.
  13. Absolutely, congratulations to DeSales. They are a very good team and fought back and won the game. I just think the game should be decided by the players. 33 to 10 free throws! Sayre had multiple players in foul trouble and their leading scorer played just over 2 quarters total before fouling out finishing with a game high 18 pts. It was a 2-3 point game into the 4th.
  14. Final from Henry County Invitational Championship game. Sayre Spartans led by as much as 13 pts early but couldn't hold on. Foul trouble really slowed them down the stretch. DeSales shot 33 from the stripe with Sayre only taking 10.
  15. Final from Henry County Sayre 59 Atherton 56
  16. Brossart led by 17 in the 3rd and 13 at the start of the 4th
  17. I would hope for a different foe come March because Cov Cath does not match up with Boyle Co and I don't see that changing.
  18. From what I saw Boyle was just a better team with better players/athletes across the board. Unless you shoot the lights out it's hard to compete when that happens.
  19. This comment is not specifically about the young man mentioned above rather it is a comment on what is becoming more the norm with high school athletes. A 17 year old is not really a sophmore. I was 17 when I graduated from high school. A year or two makes a huge difference at this stage in life. What is the cut off date for how old you can be to play high school sports?
  20. In my opinion Scott County is definitely ahead of Lafayette. I also think Dunbar and even Madison Central will move up when all are full strength.
