  1. Very surprised and disappointed. With the experienced, proven coaches that applied this is hard to make sense of. Seems predetermined with him working in the school and some of the more experienced applicants not even being granted an interview.
  2. Heard it's down to those "couple of assistants from the area".
  3. That's yet to be determined. It's going to get real interesting once the new school is up and running to see who actually ends up there.
  4. Hearing Matt Yates has his hat in the ring. He was formerly at West Jess, Danville and Frankfort and seems to make a lot of sense for this job.
  5. Has anyone heard anything new on this?
  6. Scott Co. being Scott Co.. Turn up the D in the 3rd and go on a big run. Turn you over, out rebound bound you and get 2nd and 3rd chances. I have watched them several times this year and that is the story line for most games. Disciplined, very good TEAM.
  7. Cooper Robb is Scott Co's point guard. Bryce Long is their 2. Long is more of a 3 pt shooter. Imo the young Fraley kid is solid for a freshman but not at the same level of Robb or most of the opposing point guards SC has faced. His time will come, but imo he is the second best point on the Pulaski team. Scott Co is not a great shooting team but they rebound very well and get a lot of 2nd and 3rd chances. Defense is the difference in this game and Scott plays it well while Pulaski doesn't. It's hard to flip a switch and start playing great defense. Scott by 12.
  8. Not accurate unless there are unexpected transfers. They will lose only 1 player from this past years roster to the new school/Carter G. Woodson Academy. They have a lot of young talent coming up. This past season 6 freshman played only JV and Varsity. The JV, again mostly freshman was competitive in most games beating Scott County and some of the city schools in spite of really poor leadership. There is no excuse for the record the varsity had but there is plenty of talent walking the halls of Tates Creek. They just need the right Coach to lead and change the culture. The football team has been able to turn things around and get things headed in the right direction under the guidance and leadership of a good Coach and there's no reason the basketball program can't do the same.
  9. The Sayre School opened in 1854 but I believe they began competing in basketball in the 1960's.
  10. For some reason this is listed as an OT game but it ended in regulation. Sayre led most of the game and was ahead by 10-12 for last 6-7 minutes before HC hit a few uncontested shots in the closing seconds. Another big win for the Spartans. Jake Duby with 37 pts and 9 rbs and RJ Smith with 17 and 11.
  11. Good win for the Spartans. Foul trouble kept this one a little closer than it should have been. Duby with 32 on 13 shots, 4 of 5 on 3's and 12 of 12 on ft's. Clutch bench contributions and good defense on TC's Patterson helped the Spartans get their 2nd city win of the season.
  12. Why do most seem to feel this way? Not saying I completely disagree, but what is your reasoning? From what I am hearing they will be getting plenty of athletes from Henry Clay and Bryan Station with the redistricting. They will also get the Carter G. Woodson Academy students/athletes that have been playing at their districted schools. I am also hearing that several kids are wanting to transfer there because it's new, great facilities, new equipment, their teamates/friends are going there, "grass is greener" type stuff. The coach is coming from the college level so I would think he could handle running a high school team. Again, not disagreeing, just trying to understand why most feel like they will struggle.
  13. They look the part but did not play like they look. Sayre has no size and the 2 bigs for PCC still struggled.
  14. The demands are significant but let's not make it out to be like a prison sentence. It is an honor and a privilege that comes with many perks that normal students don't get.
  15. McPeek is the AD. They have been talking to Coaches about various positions but I have not heard anything definite. The colors are suppose to be Orange and Green/Miami Hurricanes. Mascot is something horse related but I can't remember for sure what I was told. For this school year (2016/17) incoming freshman effected by the re-districting had a choice of current districted school or new districted school to start and finish their high school years. I do not know for sure how the juniors and seniors will be handled. The most interesting piece of this is the Carter G. Woodson Academy. Currently, students attending the CGW go to the academy during the day but play sports for their districted school. My understanding is that when the new school opens it will house the CGW and all academy students will go there and play sports there, regardless of grade. This will effect most if not all Fayette Co schools sports immediately and in my opinion could have a bigger impact down the road. New school, new facilities, good players wanting to play together (see AAU) could become a destination for the better athletes. The only "rubber stamp" tranfers in Fayette County are moving to new district (or a relative renting an apartment there) and/or attending one of the various programs the different high schools offer.
  16. Duby has zero D-1 offers. He will most likely chose not to play in college so he can focus on academics.
  17. Example 2: Lafayettes freshman class was made up of players from all over the city. At least 6 different middle schools that I could count. This is not exclusive to Lafayette but they have been the school of choice in the short term. I expect things will be shifting soon with the new school opening, re-districting, parents and kids looking for other options, playing time, etc. I was told the current group of freshman were dressed and played in one varsity game as a "reward" for impressing the coaches. The skeptic in me says there may be an ulterior motive, but that's just my opinion.
  18. I am just happy one Lexington team is advancing. How did the Knights team fair last night and in the Championship last year?
  19. Let's be clear I was not comparing the two players. I stated that no one in gets boxed, doubled teamed, face guarded more than Jake Duby. Someone else brought up Tavion and I responded that Tavion has not faced that as much because he was surrounded by teammates that could make you pay. That is not a knock on Tavion at all and I said he could and would get his. I even said in another thread he would average 30+. Sorry, I meant Sophmore year when Tavion played without his surrounding cast and I said "he did his thing". But just to be factual he averaged 25.1 pts not 30 according to khsaa and it was tougher for him and they did lose a lot of games. One player can't win every game. As for your questions about if they switched teams and schedules and the results and numbers. Again, I was never comparing the two players. I do know what they think of each others game and the mutual respect they have gained playing/practicing with and against each other. As for some of the other players on the list..there is no comparison between them and Jake Duby.
  20. Tavion has always had a strong surrounding cast with the exception of the start of his junior year when Dunbar had several players out for various reasons. He still did his thing but they did not win many games and it was much more difficult for him to get his shots. As I stated in another thread it will be different for him this year unless/until his teammates can produce and make teams pay for double teaming, etc. Tavion will still be the best player on the floor most nights but he will just have to work a little harder to get his.
