Sacred Heart, Assumption, Notre Dame, Mercy. One of these 4 will be State Champs in 2015. How would u rank them?

That not much of a prediction there Capt. Obvious. There's only 4 Championship contenders in the Commonwealth - Mercy, Sacred Heart, Assumption, Notre Dame. Will Mercy win their region? Of course. And if the bracket lines-up the right way, they can cruise right into the Championship. But the real question is where would you rank them in the Big 4? I would put them 4th.

No one at the collegiate level cares about HS Volleyball because for the most part, it's terrible - but they do care about Club. PU HC Shondell came from Club ranks too.

I would says there's been none. NDA website says they are 51-1 over the last 4 full seasons vs teams from Region 8,9, & 10 which is all of NKY. Let's be honest - Region 10 is much weaker compared to 9. Anyone expecting a return to dominance by NCC in 9 the way it used to be in 10 is going to be disappointed. Angie is a great coach and will do the best with what she has, but being in 9 means having to get past St. Henry, Ryle, Cooper, and NDA every year. I'm pretty sure Coach Angie's plan isn't to wait to see who NDA graduates, because she knows as well as anyone - NDA doesn't rebuild, they reload. For example, I think about the great team NDA had in 2011 - went 32-6 and lost in the state semi-final. NDA had 5 seniors from that team continue to play in college. I'm sure a lot of people thought, well... that's it for them. All NDA has done since then is win Region 9 every year and finish as state runner up twice. Waiting for NDA to be "down" is not a great plan.

First, I would say you want to be in the highest level, most competitive club you can. You only get better when you practice with, and play against, teams and players that are as good or better than you. KIVA has 18 girls from the class of 2015 getting scholarships - do you think all of them are on the 1's team? or even seeing significant playing time? No and no. That's the power of being at a good club. You always hear about favoring certain high schools in so many clubs...and it's mostly not true. Clubs have so many players from so many different high schools that it really doesn't matter. Everyone has a spot in club until someone better comes along - the club isn't going to care where they are from. If you have specific concerns about LUV I would address them with the Club Director or Owner.

Not yet, but by Junior High - yes. 7th or 8th grade sounds about right. I have a simple theory on all of this: 10% of kids playing sports are gifted. They can play multiple sports and be good at all of them. Being gifted means they don't have to focus on one sport. 10% of kids playing sports are not going to get any better no matter what they do. Focusing on one sport isn't going to matter. 80% of kids have some athletic ability and by focusing on one sport they can elevate their game into or near the "gifted" category through hard work and training without being born with the natural gifts. For 80% of kids, it's better to be great at 1 sport, than be above average in 3.

Go to the KHSAA scoreboard. There's no list, but you can change the years and go back and see all of the district and region info. It's all there, you just have to do the work. And the State Champ list is easy: Assumption. In almost every sport except football, scholarships are driven by the club/travel/AAU/select teams and not the High School teams. 99% of all volleyball scholarships come from club volleyball, so you would be better served checking club volleyball websites and not High Schools. Go look under "recruiting" "commitments" or "alumni" for Lexington United, KIVA, Union, NKYVC, and MAVA for starters. Not a joke to them. If the State Champ is also going to be in the All-A, then what's the point of having the All-A?

I've been consistent in my opinion that any award that involves coaches voting is inherently flawed. Coaches are inherently biased - they are too close to the situation. They can say they are not biased and offer proof that they themselves are more critical of their own players than others. But that doesn't make them any more or less biased. And then throw in some long standing bad feelings about one school or another, or something that happened during the season, and no wonder these selections often get sideways. Would rather have an unbiased panel of media vote, but there's very little media left covering HS sports. Just my 2 dollars.

I get your point from a fans' perspective, but I'm going to hope that the fact that she was already committed did NOT factor into the coaches voting.

All-A schools already have a choice - playing in the All-A is optional. So why do schools like NCC, Holy Cross, Brossart, and Owensboro Catholic choose to play in it? What is the relationship between the tourney and these schools? Or, asked a different way, what would happen to the tourney if those schools chose not to play in it? And on a different note, I invite everyone to explore the (now closed for unknown reasons) Boys Basketball thread about mostly public schools rumored to be boycotting the All-A. I can definitely see small public schools boycotting the All-A if they have to go up against the KHSAA State Champ. Or even the Regional Champ.

You are completely wrong! HHS won it back-to-back in 1999/2000 and 2000/2001. And they may have won it even more earlier than that.

Are you talking about just 16's for both clubs? Verbal commitments should be on their respective website rosters, but I think the only player verbally committed on either 16 #1 's team is Bush. 16's club season is still a little early for most, a lot of offers will come over the summer.

There is a mountain of factual evidence that says it is and needs some adjusting, at least for Girl's Basketball. Again, people keep bringing up other sports - I have no clue how well it is, or is not, working in other sports.

I can't imagine WKU games are broadcast from that side, so why they wouldn't use the same broadcast set-up that WKU uses is beyond me. I did ask your same question one time and I was told it's wherever they park the production truck, the easiest way to run the wires, blah, blah. Sounds like lazyness and not thinking about the end product to me. If you can give me a legit reason why the cameras have to be on that side of the court, then fine. I've also seen them do this for other girls' sports like soccer and volleyball, but will the boys be upside down at Rupp? and what about football? We could have a title IX issue.
