NDA Pandas
Curious if anyone else has made it 14 years in a row? Product this year of 3 good teams in district. If Bellevue and Dayton would just shut it down already and merge with Newport, it would give NCC and HHS some competition. Otherwise I would say NCC and HHS are Regional locks for the foreseeable future.

Well shoot, I know it is way early......
I'm sure she is a fine player and we'll be hearing great things about her for years to come. That said, Dixie went 15-20 last year and was only 4-10 in the region, which tells me no matter how explosive 1 player is, if she doesn't have the team around her, it's not going to matter much. Just ask Kaity Smith. As far as club, right now the AES Power rankings has her team ranked 720th in 16's in the Nation. They went 1-5 in their only appearance playing in "open" so far. I doubt they play open the rest of the year. In 16's, they appear to be very average. Meh. The JV teams/benches at schools like Mercy, or ND, or Assumption would easily defeat most HS Varsity teams. I think size of school, competition for team, competitiveness of team needs to be factored in. And what does "starter" mean? You're either in the rotation or you're not. Some players "start" on the sidelines and then rotate in as a sub - no difference than starting on the court.

BOKC Why I won't be at the Regional tourney shooting photos!
Maybe they are.. playing in a big arena is a thrill most of these kids will never forget, or ever get to do again. Playing in there does make it more special. So if there's a "price" to be paid either in $$ or accomodations, some may think it's worth it.

This was for the Holiday Camp over Christmas, not the main one in the summer. Still an honor, but the fact is most of the top players in the country sit this one out and the participation in this from across the country is a fraction of what it is during the summer. And even then, many, many top players in the country don't do HP for a variety of reasons. Not a huge fan of these coaches' selections because they have to include someone from every school, which I think discounts the list some. There's also no taking into account positions played when selecting these teams either. This is all true. She would be better served being on an Open level team in her own age group, than playing up on a team that isn't at the top level, nor facing top competition. NKJV just isn't one of the top local clubs.

Were you expecting one based on previous years? Sounds like they made accommodations for non-media like yourself to still shoot if desired.

What 9th region draw would you like to see?
So far in the first round we have... Highlands vs Holmes, or Boone Co, or St.H/Dix loser Holy Cross vs NCC, or Boone Co, or St.H/Dix loser Ryle vs Holmes, or NCC, or St.H/Dix loser St. Henry/Dixie winner vs Holmes, NCC, or Boone co I'm not so sure the St.Henry/Dixie winner gets any better draw than the loser. Highlands has a 33% chance of drawing Holmes first round.

Is she staying at Dixie?

Holy Cross v Holmes 35th District Championship Predictions
I think what you are saying is this gets interesting if NCC upsets HHS.

Oh How They've Fallen....
Does the fact that NDA dominates in several other sports have anything to do with it?

Coaches of the Year
NCC went 0-4 against the "Big 3" Highlands, Holmes, Holy Cross. No way that gets you COTY. Probably had to beat at least one of them to be considered.

Covington Holy Cross 65 Beechwood 36
If in fact they were up 30 with 4 mins left, then I think HC missed a chance to let their bench get a bucket in a District game, which is fun for the whole team. That was probably the 1 and only opportunity to do it this year. Disagree that you leave your starters in, especially now. You can't replicate playoff experience for your bench anywhere else. You're one ankle twist away from needing your bench. If you can, (and it can be argued that was the case here), they need to get in for valuable minutes that may help you later.

I suppose "impact" is a relative term. I've seen Freshman make an impact at a smaller school or smaller program - maybe gets them a few more wins. But the bar is high for the Cru - 4 of last 5 years in Regional Champ Match. Not a ton of Freshmen make an impact at that level because of the amount of talent.

Who did not get a Senior night? List school here....
Would like to compile a list of every school that was unable to hold a Senior night due to closure.

Notre Dame Academy 51 Boone County 45
Final per KHSAA. It's been almost 24 hours and no one had posted the score, sort of shows you the interest level right now.
-
Holmes 105 Lloyd 48
For everyone that did and did not have a problem with this score...what side of the fence were you on in the 162-2 Girls HS BBall blowout that was widely discussed earlier this season? Same or different? What's your threshold? Do you have a hard number?
- What one piece of advice you would give Coach Eviston at Covington Catholic?

Well shoot, I know it is way early......
Anyone offseason updates? Heard Morgan leaving Beechwood for NDA is a done deal. Saw in paper NDA Junior committed to Seton Hall..Notre Dame Academy volleyball standout Madison Salkowski commits to Seton Hall Saw Ryle Soph Bush committed to Purdue.. Where is Smith going to play in college? If the NDA roster is accurate it shows they only lost 2 Seniors. I think they are the team to beat, and I wouldn't expect anyone locally to surprise them.

The All-A Tournament is . . .
How many times have you gotten to post that massive #? You're welcome.

The All-A Tournament is . . .
You've said twice this thread has taken a wrong turn, yet posts like that are keeping it alive!!

The All-A Tournament is . . .
Actually, small schools are the ones thanking the All-A...they get to claim a "State Championship", plus go play for another one. At least if the KHSAA went to classes, it would be equal opportunity for all. Explain to me the purpose of the All-A again, because I don't see the tournament winners having any problems competing in Regionals once the KHSAA tourney comes around.
-
The All-A Tournament is . . .
No. They are not KHSAA member schools, do not play other KHSAA member schools during the season, and do not play in the KHSAA post season. Teams in the All-A do all 3. Now we're kind of comparing NCAA to NAIA. But I do know this scary thought - the KCAA also has their own All-A tournament, in fact it's called exactly that. KCAA schools probably average 60 kids total grades 9-12. Why someone feels the need to have a separate KCAA All-A tourney, when the numbers are already that low, is beyond me. What's the enrollment number to qualify to play in the KCAA All-A? Below 25? Below 12?

The All-A Tournament is . . .
If you believe that the All-A winner is indeed the State Champion and has the right to call themselves State Champion, then is it fair to be allowed to participate in both? 2 chances for some schools, but only 1 for everyone else?
