Yeah, my track coach believed in making the "Weight Men" from each school run a relay race after the official meet was over. We'd line up and run a 4x100 relay with 4 throwers from your team. I tried to make myself scarce at the end of the meets so he'd choose someone else to run.

Shout out to the "weight men" (an old school term used by my high school track coach. Did I mention I was in high school just after the first year of the modern Olympic games?). It really is heartbreaking for all the spring sport athletes and especially the seniors.

This is an impressive list of athletes. That's some God-given physical attributes and talent. If they can put that together with strong effort, character, and skilled guidance from their coaches the future is indeed bright for these young men.

This is why I said earlier in the thread that I thought the jump to NAIA would help TMU in recruiting the local area. They will be able to get some of the better athletes who would have looked elsewhere because they can get some money to play at an NAIA school or D2. While TMU always wound up with a bunch of local players, I think the caliber of player who stays near home will elevate a little because of the existence of scholarship money. I know of at least one player who barely gave TMU a look because he could get money elsewhere. Although being recruited by the Saints, by the time TMU announced its move to NAIA, he had already eliminated them from the possible places to go and narrowed his choices to two NAIA schools and a D2 program.

I agree with all of this except your likening the Mid-South to the SEC. I think that title belongs to the Mid-States Football Association. They boast the most NAIA champs over the past 10-15 years. Though, Lindsey Wilson did do very well this year, losing to the top MSFA team (Marian) in the playoffs by a score of 34-24. Then Marian lost in the championship game by 2 points.

See post #23 for Boone County: "Current band room will become athletic performance facility." I assume this means weight room. And you are right about restroom upgrades. I hadn't thought about that. Yeah, we need to get rid of the trough in the current restroom at Hauck stadium.

I don't know about that last sentence. TMC offering some scholarship will probably sway some local kids to stay in the area. The ability to offer a scholarship will is a big plus for a school to recruit. That would be Lindsey Wilson.

This is great news. The windfall will include many other upgrades and improvements of Boone Co's other non-sports facilities. This is what the Principal, Mr. Schlotman, announced at a recent pep rally for the Boone Cheer team. This is exactly my thought. It is realism. I would love to see the season wind up as some others have suggested. There are some really good kids on the team that will give you everything they got. For their sakes, I'd love to see a giant step forward this season.

Thanks for posting this, @Mr. Sixer. I remember Michael from the BCPWFL Knights. I think that was when he was in 4th grade. He had such a great competitive spirit. I remember a game against the Chargers that went into overtime. Michael, at RB, willed his team to victory. He would not be denied on the goal line. Great kid. Of course, he became a fine young man playing the game for the Cooper Jaguars. He and his family are first class people. He also was a heck of a defensive basketball player in H.S. Prior to that he did the circuit on AAU teams. He is an athlete. If I remember correctly, his father played D-Line at Alabama. Looks like it was a good move to go to Prep school. He actually graduated a year before kids his same age. His family moved him a head a grade at some point early on. He was a smart kid. He was on the Quick Recall team in middle school. I'm guessing a year at prep school allowed him to mature into that long body. As I say, a class act. I will be happy for him with whatever success comes his way.

Boone won the match-up with Holmes 20-6 in 2019, 49-0 in 2018. They had a common opponent in Scott in 2019. Boone lost to Scott 30-8. Holmes beat Scott on Oct. 25, 50-38. Then Holmes lost to Scott in the first round of the playoffs 29-40. You have a point. Maybe the game against Holmes will be more competitive than I first thought.

This is a good question. I think they beat Holmes and Dunbar, though I don't have any knowledge about whether Dunbar will be improved over last season. Boone beat them by 6 points so that is a toss-up game. If Lloyd is not as good as they were last season, again a topic on which I have no knowledge, Boone may beat Lloyd. There was an 8-point differential last year, though Lloyd was easily the more physical team and didn't seem to be in jeopardy of losing its lead at any time in the second half. So, I think 3 wins are possible, but a 1-win season is just as likely. The most probable result is 2 wins for a third year in a row. I do think Boone will be improved in the 2020 season. A second year under Coach Warner will help. Also, the juniors from the 2019 team were the strength of the team last season and they will be seniors in 2020, which is why I think Boone will be improved for the 2020 season. But that improvement won't be enough to add any wins beyond the three possible I mentioned above. To put things in perspective, I do not think the 2020 team will be as good as the 2018 two-win team.
