Who are the top linebackers in Kentucky for 2020?

This position looks much stronger at the top than it did a year ago. A handful of Kentucky-bred linebackers already have several FBS offers apiece.

 

To get things rolling, here are a few guys that every team in the state wishes they had:

 

Jack Dingle - Trinity

6'4", 215 lbs

Offers from UofL, Cincinnati, Miami(OH), and Western Michigan

Tristan Cox - Pulaski County

6'3", 235 lbs

2019: 94 tackles/20 TFL/3 sacks/1 int.

Offers from UK, UofL, WVU, Purdue, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, and Marshall, among others

Michael Lunz - North Hardin

6'3", 230 lbs

2019: 78 tackles/19 TFL/3 sacks/3 ints.

Charlie Ely - Trinity

6'2", 225 lbs

Offers from Army, Air Force, Kent State, and EKU, among others

Austin Gough - Owensboro

6'1", 210 lbs

Missed the first eight games last year, due to injury. Made 1st team all-state as a sophomore in 2018.

Brandon Stearman, senior, Trinity. He had a pick-6 against Male late in the first half in the 2019 championship game. He and Ely are tough in the middle.

 

The Rocks are loaded at this position. Probably the best linebacking corp in the state.

This is an impressive list of athletes. That's some God-given physical attributes and talent. If they can put that together with strong effort, character, and skilled guidance from their coaches the future is indeed bright for these young men.
