Well, as it turns out, Boone County had their spring scrimmage today because the weather looked threatening for tomorrow. The coaches will still host a meeting with parents on Thursday.

Boone County intra-squad scrimmage is Wednesday, April 24 at 7 pm. I suppose that is the same as a spring game. There is a "Meet the Coach" at 6 pm for the parents.

Here's an update from Lloyd Memorial. In addition to the fine young men mentioned above, Lloyd Memorial High School reports... TE/DL Bradley Turner signed with the Wilmington College Quakers. C/NT Ajay Pelep signed with the University of Pikeville Bears.

And, why not throw your hat in the ring, if you are Browning? If you want to be a HC, you have to first apply for the position. It's in Boone County school district so it would be an easy move to make for him and for his family. Of course, whether he has a chance at being hired is besides the point I made.

Regarding Peppers: he was selected in the draft to be a high impact player on defense. He is a freakish athlete, able to play LB at a Big 10 school or safety. Brown's former DC Gregg Williams wanted to use him playing deep in the secondary as someone who would be a ball hawk. It didn't quite pan out. Then they modified that role to more of a normal free safety. But Peppers wasn't ever comfortable in that role. For 2018, Cleveland brought in veteran free safety, Demarious Randall from the Packers and Peppers went to Strong Safety. He settled into that role during last season. He was ranked by Pro Football Focus as the 6th best safety in the league as he was more comfortable playing SS but he has not yet lived up to expectations as an impact player. Perhaps he will respond to new coaching and system in his 3rd season and become the unique impact player the Browns thought he was coming out of Michigan as a hybrid LB. He also handled most of the punt return and kick return duties for the Browns. He still has a lot of upside. The Giants may end up with a very good player in Peppers. He certainly has the potential athletically to be an impact player. The Browns kinda salvaged his career last year and he was happy to come back for another year... until Dorsey traded for Beckham. Perriman knows that there are not enough touches to go around with all the other weapons Cleveland now has. Beckham will get Perriman's touches and then some.

Mayfield, Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Perriman (4.25 40 yr dash), Chubb, Kareem Hunt, Callaway, Duke Johnson, TE Njoku. That's a lot of offense.

Perrin from Scott definitely has the physical tools. I liked what I saw in the scrimmage against Boone last August. England from Ryle also could have a good year. He had a couple of games early in the season against Lexington Catholic and Boone that you would expect him to have most weeks. But for most of the season his output was down. It makes me think he was playing with a nagging injury for the better part of the season, though I have no knowledge of that. I hope he will be healthy and at full strength next August and have the kind of season he is capable. I am certainly rooting for him.

^ You can say that again. 12 blocks! :wideyed: I am sorry I missed my chance to see him play in high school. I haven't seen him play since about the 4th or 5th grade. He was very athletic then, tall and skinny as can be. His long legs sure could cover ground (the court) when he ran.

Congratulations to all the players but especially to Vince Rankin of Ryle and Michael Spencer of Cooper. So proud of both of those young men.

In addition, I believe Ryan has been the freshman coach at Cov Cath the last two seasons. He is a top notch guy. He is focused on the student athlete and truly has their best interest in mind. He trained my son and a friend at AAATC for about three years. Mainly they worked with bands and a push sled at first, when still in 8th grade. After my son's sophomore season I asked Dan if he would do weight training to build him up for the following season. It made a huge difference. He builds immediate rapport with the athletes. They respect him because he obviously has practiced what he is preaching and he is a genuinely super guy. I am guessing you have already crossed paths with Dan Ryan, @theguru.
